Times Are Changing

The rain poured down over the city of Canterlot. The shops were all closed, nopony could be seen on the streets. If anypony was seen, they were making their way towards the Canterlot Castle. Everypony had their head down while they wore some sort of black clothing. Thunder was heard from the courtyard of the Castle. Twilight was standing between two coffins, one had the symbol of the sun while the other a crescent moon. Twilight stood there in upmost shock, her eyes were fully opened starring onto the two coffins with small dilated pupils. She couldn't hear any of the sounds around her nor feel the rain on her head. She felt a slight nudge to her side, bringing her sense back to her.

"Do you have any last words, Twilight?" Princess Cadence said gently towards the now teary eyed Twilight.

Twilight turned towards Cadence to notice her and Shining Armour, her brother, with tears in their eyes looking towards her. Shining was wearing a black suit with his medals on while Cadence wore a royal black dress. Twilight gave a nod as she stepped forwards rubbing her eyes. She stopped just in front of the two coffins to face the huge crowed that gathered around the courtyard, at the very front sat her friends that couldn't help but burst into tears.

"I-I don't know what happened or how it came to this," Twilight sniffled with more water works dripping from her face "Princess Celestia was a good friend... And a Teacher. She taught me that Friendship is magic and no matter what happens your friends will always come through and help you in need, she made me a Princess for all that I have done for Equestria and its ponies. I have known her from the very beginning of my student career, so I don't know why she had to go. Princess Luna is Celestia's sister and a very good Friend to us all. She always looked after us in our dreams or made us laugh on her old ways of living a thousand years ago before she turned into Nightmare Moon. Even if she wasn't there in plain sight she was always looking after everypony. These two very important pony's to us all will still live on in our hearts and minds-" Twilight paused, lowering her head to the ground closing her eyes gently saying "they will be missed and cherished for all eternity"

Everypony bowed their heads towards the coffins in respect. Twelve royal guards started marching towards the coffins. Three stopped on each side of the two coffins, lifting the two coffins up from the ground on their backs and arms making their way towards two tombs. The left tomb had a massive fiery sun on while the right had a cloudy crescent moon. The guards soon left the tomb empty hoofed, closing it behind them as they left. There was a minute silence where everypony kept their head down, the only sound was the rain and thunder coming down harder on top of them. Time went by for it turned into a hour of silence, everypony stood their quiet on that spot for an hour. That's how loved the two Princesses were. After the hour, everypony started to leave the scene, one by one they left in a orderly fashion. Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Spike stood behind Twilight, trying not to interrupted her silence towards the two now gone Princesses.

"Princess Twilight?" A male voice came from behind the group outside the tombs. Twilight didn't even look the pony's way, she instead started to make her way towards the Castle in a depressed manor.

"Princess, I'm afraid this con-"

"Can't ya see she's not in the mood to talk right now" Applejack said in a aggressive tone as she turned around. They all got a good look while Twilight was halfway towards the castles door. They saw a grey earth pony wearing a complete black tuxedo. He was a rather scruffy pony  with a undone top button and a loosened tie, he was completely soaked by the looks of it. His mane and tail was black with dark midnight blue streaks in them. On that note his mane and tail were rather long, his mane flicked round to the side while the top was a rather long fringe, his tail was long and bushy like it hasn't been cut in ages. His eyes were red and his hoofs black with his fur coming over it. From the six it looked like he has t gotten any sleep in forever.

"I know she doesn't want to but this is important." The grey earth pony said with a concerned look.

"I have to agree with Applejack, she needs time alone." Fluttershy rubbed her eyes wiping away the tears.

The pony stomped his hoof on the ground lashing out." I'm from the detective agency in Manehattan, I need to see her in private, the information I have could sa-!"

"Don't lash out at me, Stallion." Applejack stopped the earth pony in his tracks. The pony grunted before running off in the direction towards Twilight, who was now entering the castle. He was soon stopped by the guards and thrown out of the castle by force because he didn't comply.

Twilight made her way through the castles corridors to Princess Celestias' chambers, all was there was a large sitting cushion next to a fire place, a painting on a scroll on the wall and a open window. Twilight sat on top of the cushion, eventually crying herself to sleep. Later she woke up laying next to Cadence and Shining armour who were asleep, the sun was replaced by the moon which Cadence must've done by herself. Twilight got up from the cushion and towards the window. She looked at it with the flood of memories of her and Princess Luna shooting to her mind. One tear fell from her eye whispering "I'll be strong okay" to herself.

"And so are we Twily" Shining and Cadence both smiled towards her.

"I can't believe their gone" Shining said as he gave her sister a hoof for comfort.

"Were it so easy" Twilight said bursting into tears towards the moon.

KABOOM!!!

The castle shook, alerting the three in the room towards the door. A guard burst through the chambers door in a gasping state.

"Your Highnesses, I'm afraid the guest room where Twilight was meant to be sleeping suddenly exploded. If you could just stay hidden right here the guards posted round every corner will know you are in here" the guard suddenly went out the room shutting the door.

"What just happened?" Twilight asked in worry.

"Somepony just tried to assassinate you, it's not commonly known for them to attack the castle in Canterlot?" Cadence spoke in a concerned tone.

Shining gasped as he realized. "Nopony was in the castle for a full hour during the silence!"

Loud noises could be heard from outside the door of the chambers. Three loud thuds were soon heard after behind the closed door, with a blood trail soon flowing inside the room. Shining and Cadence looked at each other before to Twilight.

"You need to fly away from here Twily" Shining placed his hoofs on Twilight's shoulders.

"Whatever you do, don't look back!" Cadence pointed out the window. All three of their hearts beated fast.

"Why? We can take them on anytime." Twilight stated. Cadence quickly noticed the door opening slowly. She panicked, quickly teleporting Twilight outside the castles window a distance away from it. She started to fly back towards the window sneering her teeth at the two who were looking towards the door. Twilight froze from the noise of a loud echoing sound, that's not what she froze to, she froze on the sight of a hole appearing on her brothers head. She saw the blood splatter across the wall and parts of the window. Twilight's  mouth widened as Cadence looked out the window towards her. Another loud noise was soon heard with Cadences head exploding out blood to cover the walls and outside the window. Twilight shook her head as she whispered continuously "no". More tears came to her eyes as she saw the assailant wearing a black cloak that was smeared in blood to cover his face. Twilight turned away from the castle, flying as fast as she could into the nearby forest hoping the assassin doesn't follow. The assassin walks towards the window and grins, showing his sharp teeth.

"We both know you can run Princess, but let's see how long you can hide?"
