This time I might just disappear
Introduction and the man who ruins lives.
Load Full StoryNext ChapterHey everyone or everypony, I suppose it just depends on who finds this. If it’s a human that’s not another displaced then you most likely won’t believe me. If it is another displaced, fuck our lives huh? If it’s another a Pony or another being on the infinite Equus’… Equi? Whatever, all of the parallel pony worlds out there, especially the ones that have a displaced, then you most likely will believe me. See I’m writing this because I’m dying… again, and I have no idea if I’m coming back this time. Right, was just informed that depending on who gets this, they will have no idea what’s going on, so let me start at the beginning, years and years ago…
~Sometime in the past~
It was a nice day, well nice by my standards, it was overcast but had a very low chance of raining, which meant it was cool but had no chance of ruining everyone’s day. I stopped walking to look at a large building that had a sign that said “20XX Nerd Convention” yeah the name wasn’t the best but hey at least we were honest. People were entering and leaving the building dressed as many things, Dante, Ben 10, SCP’s, Kingdom Hearts’ Characters, Final Fantasy Characters, etc. you name it, it was here.
Now I decided to come dressed as Lewis, his ghost form, from the Mystery Skulls – Ghost animation. I liked the guy, the entire animation was heart wrenching once you looked at it closely enough and I sympathized with is plight…. Also a pink flamed skeletal ghost is fucking awesome. It took me some time to get this costume ready, mainly my hair, took forever to grow out but when it did it was just in time for the convention. I was so excited, that I forgot one crucial part of my costume, which I didn’t notice till I rummaged through my pockets. “Son of a fucking…. GOD DAMN IT! I forgot the stupid locket! Great…. well it’s not that important right? I mean it was only the most crucial part to figuring out his connection with one of the characters…. yep totally not important.” I sighed and my shoulders slumped, “Oh well, tomorrow, new day, new chance.” I was still bummed but I went into the building, I was in awe, there were so many things that if I was any less manly I would’ve squealed like a kid in a candy shop… wait I did.
I was having the time of my life until I ran into him, for you displaced who might be reading this, you already know exactly who I’m talking about. For those of you who don’t know if you are reading this. I ran into the man who causes all the turmoil and strife in every displaced’s life. The Merchant.
It was a pleasant enough meeting really, I was just walking when he spoke to me, “Hello sir, yes you, the one with the skull paint and the pink hair.”
I walked up to him and was quite surprised with what I saw, which wasn’t anything. He was wearing a hood that cloaked his face in pitch blackness, the only part of his body you could see were his hands, which were long, spindly, and…. yellow. I heard that each displaced sees the merchant differently but still yellow hands. “You called me? What do you want?”
“Ah it’s not what I want but what you want. You see, I noticed that you are dressed up as Lewis from Mystery Skulls.”
I scoffed, “Not that hard to tell really, especially if you’ve seen the animation.”
“Very true, however I also noticed that you are lacking a very important part to your… costume, apart I just so happen to have.” He said as he reached inside his cloak and pulled out a golden heart shaped locket.
I blinked, and I thought at the time that it couldn’t have been coincidence, honestly I wish I had followed that instinct, but instead I did what any normal person would do, “So how much are you willing to sell it for?”
He laughed a laugh that still sends a chill down my spine to this very day, “Ah for you, nothing at all except maybe a little entertainment.”
“I… ok, what do you want me to do, dance a little jig, sing, punch myself?”
He shook his head, or what I could tell through the slight movement of his hood, he held out the locket and motioned for my hand and I stuck it out, and he dropped the locket right in it, “No, none of that, you’ll know in time, but for now, just enjoy yourself, I’ll be seeing you around…. Lewis.” And with that he turned and left, leaving me much more than confused, but I shrugged it off.
“Weird but whatever, I’m not going to question a free gift.” As I was about to head on my way and explore more of the convention I felt the locket twitch in my hand, I looked at it and it was glowing, glowing brighter than any light, and it hurt, but I couldn’t let go, so I just tried my best to ignore the burning pain and blinding light, when it was over I found myself in a completely different room, it was tall with grand pillars, stain glass windows and golden banners. Then the sickness started, I threw up all over whoever’s floor this was, I even saw some blood, which terrified me, but it wouldn’t stop, then the burning started, the ungodly burning. I can still remember the pain and I was awake during all of it. I didn’t pass out until it was all over, and I hit the ground hard, before I did though, I thought I saw what looked like horses staring at me in shock, horror, and sadness. I chalked it up to the fact that I thought I was dying and my mind was making things up, I almost wish I had died at the time, I really did… actually I did.
