Derpy and Hurpyby OctavicChaptersChapter 1Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4Chapter 5 (The Ending)Chapter 1If mom wants to kill me, how would she do it? Maybe she would beat me with some hard object like usual. Or she would strangle my around my neck like she normally do. Or actually, she would break my wings and throw me off the clouds, faking an accident. That sounds like the thing she would do. When the police and teachers ask, she would say. “Hurpy always looked depressed. She must have not been paying attention to where she was going and rain into a rock and fell.” Then no one would question my death. Lately, mom had tortured me much more directly and physically. When I was young she tried to show her hate indirectly. Like when she bought my little sister cake but didn’t bought me any. Or when she bought my little sister some new cloth, but didn’t give me any. She always tortured me mentally. “Hurpy, you are the big sister. You should take care of your little sister and let her have more.” That’s what mom had always said. Derpy and I were twins. Derpy was pretty and active, and when she smiles it was like a summer flower in bloom. In school all the teachers and ponies loved her. Sometimes she would give me leftovers of her food, so I liked her too. Mom always forgot to make me meals on purpose. I had no other choice but to endure it. But if I open the fridge and find food myself, mom would get mad and throw something at me, maybe the solid cigar jar. Because I was afraid of getting hit, either by the stuff she threw or by her hooves, so a lot of times I just had to deal with the hunger. Sometimes I was so hungry that I saw illusions. When Derpy sees me like this, she would pass over her dish with some left overs. To be honest, at that moment she was like an angel to me, an angel that gives me broadleaves and carrot left overs to me. Mom saw Derpy giving me food, but she never get mad that way. Mom had spoiled Derpy so much. She had never lectured her about anything. I said thank you, took over the plate and start eating. To protect a little sister who was so important to me, I wouldn’t care if I had to kill some pony. I thought as I wolfed down the food. I didn’t remember having a dad or anything. Since I remembered, it was me, my mom and Derpy living together. By then I had graduated into middle school, but life was still the same. I have no idea how much impact could the fact of missing a dad make to my life. If I had a dad, maybe mom won’t break my teeth, or burn me with lit cigar. Maybe she wouldn’t even think about it. Maybe I could be just like Derpy, happy and pretty. I thought as I saw every morning when mom held up a plate of toast and eggs. These were all for Derpy, none for me. I tried to avoid looking at it, but I sleep right next to the floor in the kitchen, so it was quite impossible. Mom and Derpy had their own individual room, but I didn’t. So all my stuff were put in the storage together with vacuum cleaner and stuff. Luckily I didn’t have many possessions, so I didn’t need much living room either. I had nothing except the textbooks from school, and my shirts were the ones that Derpy didn’t want any more. If I read some books or magazine once in a while, mom would take them away too. I only had a thin bed sheet right next to the kitchen garbage can, so I lie on top of it while I do my homework. But I had to be careful not to look at mom or Derpy. If she saw me looking at the, she would throw the kitchen knife at me. So I would just curl up in my bed sheet and covered myself with it. If I do it right, I could avoid sleeping on most of the bruises on my body. I leave the house without breakfast every day. If I stayed home, mom would look at me in a way that could choke a puppy, saying “What are you still doing here? Get out!” so I tried to leave the house as early as I can to avoid that. Besides, mom could always find something wrong about me. No matter what I do, mom could always find a reason to punish me for it. On my way to school I sometimes see Derpy fly pass me. I looked at her with envy. Her hair was always smooth and shinning, and she looked really happy as she flew. Derpy never talked to me in front of mom, maybe she didn’t want to get me in trouble. But when mom is not there, we would talk just like good sisters. Derpy is really popular at school, and she had a lot of friends chatting, talking and laughing with her. I am really jealous of her, but I just didn’t have to courage to join them. I didn’t have much to talk about any way. I didn’t know any celebrities or famous singers. Mom would get really angry if she catches me watching TV, so to me a life with TV is a beautiful yet unfamiliar life. So I didn’t have any confidence that I would fit in anywhere. So I ended up having no friends at all. During breaks I could only put my hooves on the table and my face on top of that, pretending to be asleep. Derpy was like a god to me. She was loved by every pony, and I was her relative. I found pride in the fact. We looked alike, since after all we were twins. But no pony had ever confused me with her, because she was always active and happy, but I was always quiet and depressing. My shirts always looked dirty and smelt funny as well, so every pony was able to tell right away. Chapter 2One day I saw a poster on my way to school. It was a poster about a missing dog named Susan. There was a picture of the dog and beneath and picture there was some words, “If found, please call Mrs. Ring at xxx-xxxx” I just scanned through it and quickly forgot about it afterwards. My mind was on something a lot more important, such as how to deal with the pain from the bruise on my side. I couldn’t even concentrate in class because of the pain, so I decided to visit the nurse. The white Pegasus gasped as she saw my wounds. “Dear Celesta, what happened?” “I tripped and accidently fell below the clouds and ran into a mountain.” I lied. Last night when mom came home to take a shower, she found some strange of yellow hair in the bath tub. She got angry and came to beat me. When I was getting hit, I accidently fell over and hit myself on the edge of the table. “This is disgusting! Do you hate mom? Every I work hard to get money to feed you, and this is what you do?” The same thing happened before, so I was always careful and decided to never take a shower in mom’s bath tub ever again. The hair wasn’t mine, it was Derpy’s. But she left after she took the shower and went to a friend’s party down in ponyville, and I knew explaining to mom while she is mad will do me no good, so I just kept silent. “Well, good thing it looked like the bones are fine. But if it kept hurting, I think you should go to a hospital. But Hurpy, did you really fell? Didn’t the same thing happen last week?” The nurse said as she put bandages around my body. I nodded and left as soon as possible. I thought I need a new reason to convince others. I had always been hiding the fact that mom was beating me. Because mom told me to not slip a single word, or she would kill me. “Listen, the reason I hit you is because you are the WORST KID EVER. But you couldn’t tell any pony about it. If I don’t, then I won’t press the button.” I nodded while tears flow down my cheeks. Mom finally moved her hoof away from the switch of the fruit grinder, and also my hoof that was right there. I quickly took my hoof out of the machine. Mom was not good at talking to other ponies either. Even though she acted like a devil in front of me, when she was out of the house she was just like me, quiet and depressed-looking. Even though she had to work really hard to feed two fillies by herself, she never talked to others about it. So when she had some trouble with work, she would come home and release her rage on me. “I gave birth to you, so I can do what I want! I can kill you if I want to!” Then do it, it might be better. I thought sometimes when she held my hair in her hooves and beat me with her other hoof. The second day, some pony talked to me at school. It had been three days and six hours since I have chatted with any classmates, and that conversation was like. “Hurpy, do you have an eraser?” “Sorry, I…”“Dimmit.” “Hurpy, you are not really Derpy’s twin, right? You girls look so different.” A filly said to me while we were cleaning the room. Every other filly laughed. I was prepared for her words, so I didn’t react much. But for some reason, the laugh made me feel uneasy. “Come on, that’s mean.” A blue Pegasus with rainbow mane and tail said. “Oh sorry, I didn’t mean it.” “Yeah, it’s fine.” I replied. Maybe because I haven’t talked in so long, I couldn’t even hear my own voice. When can every pony leave so I could be alone? I thought as I cleaned the window with a piece of cloth. Even though every pony takes turns cleaning the classroom, it was always me who was actually working. “Oh Hurpy, you went to the nurse right? You got another bruise? We know it, we saw you changing in the bathroom. I told them but they don’t believe me. Come on, take off your cloths, we want to see.” I stood there silently, not sure what to do. Luckily, the teacher came back. The students went back to their business, pretending to be cleaning. I felt relieved. On my way home, I decided to flew down and sit near the forest. I sat down on a rock. For some reason I felt really sad and angry. I felt like I was tricked like a fool again. How can I every talk to others like Derpy? After a long time I finally realized that there was a puppy right next to my hooves. She had a collar around her neck. At first I thought the owner was somewhere else in the park, but soon I realized that it’s not the case. I was alone. The puppy smelt my shoes, so I sat up and rubbed its back. She wasn’t scared, and she licked my hooves gently. I suddenly realized she looked awfully like the dog on the poster. Could this be Susan? I picked her up and walked towards the address on the poster. Eventually I reached the house. The sun was setting and the front yard was all golden and beautiful. I knocked on the door gently and after a while, an old earth pony walked out. “Susan!” Her eyes shine with surprise and joy. She hugged the puppy tightly in her hooves. This must be Mrs. Ring. “Thank you so much, I had been really worried. If you don’t mind, please come in and take a seat.” I nodded and I trotted inside. I had a dirty thought inside of me. I wanted something in return, doesn’t matter if it’s money or food. I was always hungry, so I would take anything. I sat down on a chair in the living room. “So what’s your name?” “My name is… is Hurpy…” “Ah nice to meet you Hurpy, I am Ring. Wow, I put up the poster just yesterday. I didn’t except her to return so soon, hehe.” She rubbed Susan’s cheeks and walked out of the room. It looked like she was living alone. Ring came back with some coffee and a plate of sweets. Susan was following her. She put the plate down in front of me and sat down in the opposite chair. She wanted to know how I found her. Even though it was in fact quite boring, she kept smiling as I told her about it. I tossed ALL of the sugar into the coffee and drank it in one breathe. I finished the treat in two bites as well. They were delicious. I had not tasted anything sweet for a long time. Ring poured another cup of coffee for me, and she smiled as she told me to enjoy this one slowly. “Actually, would you like to have dinner here with me?” Of course I would, I wanted to say. But my brain told me to be not act so rude in front of some pony who you have just met. “Oh sorry, I haven’t prepared for a good dinner since I’ve been worrying about Susan this entire day.” Ring hugged Susan tight with love. I was so jealous, Susan must be so happy right now! “I must give you something in return. Hold on, I will be right back.” Ring put Susan down and stood up. She walked out of the room. What would she give me? My heart was pumping like never before. If it’s food or something edible, I would finish it on my way home. But if it was some object, then it would be taken away by mom as soon as she sees it. Susan sat around and smelt me. I didn’t take a shower yesterday, so I must smell terrible right now. I looked around in the room. There was a TV and a radio, both of them looked brand new. Maybe Ring wasn’t used to the new technology and stuff. There was a HUGE book shelf filled with all kinds of books. It was so big that it covered an entire wall. I was staring at the book shelves when Ring returned. She looked a little sorry, “I am really sorry. At first I wanted to give you my most previous thing, but I am so old and you know how old ponies have bad memories. I forgot where I put it. Please, come back some other day. I will try to find it as soon as possible.” I thanked her and promised to come back, then I left Ring’s house and flew up into the air towards my own. Chapter 3The second day I went straight to Ring’s house after school. I smelt a fresh scent of flowers as I knocked on the door. Ring looked really happy as she saw me. I moved into the room and sat on the same chair. Susan came and smelt me again. It was like a continuation of yesterday. “I am really sorry Hurpy. I still haven’t found the gift. I’ve been looking for it but I just can’t remember where I put it. But would you like to have a meal with me if that’s okay? Do you like burgers?” “Yes! I really really really love burgers. I would sell a kidney to get one.” Gladly Ring took my words as a bad joke. She smiled and handed me a hay burger. I started eating and thought about why she made burgers. Did she like burgers? No, she probably made it because ponies my age loved burgers. She made burgers to make me happy. “Hey Hurpy, I want to know more about you.” Ring said. “Like, your family.” “I had a mom and a twin sister.” Ring looked like she wanted to hear more, but the truth is so cold and sad. I could even look at her in the eyes. So I lied and made up a story. Even though dad is gone, but us three lived together happily. Mom was good to both of us, on our birthday she would buy a pretty shirt for BOTH of us. Not the ones that were in season, but the ones that make us look like grown-ups. We would all visit the zoo on Sundays, and watch penguins and hear them talk about where they came from. I always lived together with my sister, but I’ve been wanting my own room for a long time now. When I was younger, once we watched a horror movie and we couldn’t go to sleep, so mom held onto both of our hooves and comforted us until we fell asleep… “What a great mother…” Ring looked touched. If only these were true, I thought. She looked like she wanted to know more, but my brain was really tired, trying to come up lies that could connect to themselves and still sound convincing. So I switched topic. “Wow, that’s a lot of books over there.” I swallowed the burger, turned to the book shelves and said. Ring looked pleased. “Really? Do you like books? What I have here was just a small portion. I have a lot more in the other rooms. Not just books, comics too. Do you read comics?” “Oh sorry… I don’t know much about comics.” “Oh okay…” Ring looked a bit disappointed. I think I need to do something. For some reason, I don’ want her to dislike me. “What would you recommend tho?” “Oh, if you like them I could lend you some. Yeah yeah, just remember to drop them by the next time you come over.” Ring piled a small mountain in front of me with books and comics that she found interesting. I picked one and left Ring’s house. The reason I only picked one is because I could finish it fast. That way I could go back the next day to return the book. I had a childish thought of eating more good food, and on the other hoof I really wanted to see Ring and Susan again. I really wanted to see Ring more often. When I was sitting on her chair, my butt was like glued to the seat and I didn’t even want to move at all. After that, even though painful stuff still happens, I would visit Ring very often. Every time I would borrow a book, so the next time I would have an excuse to visit her again. The friendship and love Ring gave me was so precious, I doubt I would be able to find it anywhere else. She was the first pony I have ever met that didn’t treat me like a freak. Even though we didn’t have many connections, but I would hate to lose her as a friend. Every time when I visit her, she would have delicious dinner readied for me. I would tell her about what I thought of the book or comic. We became really close friends. When school is over, I would walk Susan with her, and sometimes I would help her fix the roof and change light bulbs, which was easy since I am a Pegasus. “Hey, want to go to the movies this Sunday?” I almost jumped up in joy when I heard Ring’s suggestion. “Oh, but that’s a bit unfair for your mom. Umm, want to invite Derpy as well?” “Oh no… I mean, sorry, she already had plans. She need to urg… what was it again, oh yeah, she needed to work on a project, having a big test coming up. She needed to study.” Ring shook her head in pity. After the movies, we went to a sushi buffet. I was a little worried, but Ring took me there any way. I have never had sushi, and I have no idea what the fishes are called. I knew the rules of the restaurant and I wanted to order something cheap, but I didn’t know which ones are cheap. The sushi slowly moved in front of us, and Ring started talking about her own family. “I had a granddaughter just your age.” Ring looked serious. “She is a year younger than you are. She lives not far away, but I haven’t seen her in three years.” “Does she not live with her family?” Ring didn’t answer. I think something might have happened. “Why not write a letter and invite her? ‘I’ll make something you like for dinner, so please come and eat’. Then she would come.” I suggest, and almost immediately I started thinking what if some other pony said this to me, what would I answer. Maybe this is the only time I would ever run into this question in my whole life, I need to take time and give it some serious consideration. “You are a good kid.” Ring mumbled, “I have something I need to tell you. Remember I said I have something previous to give you?” “Actually I don’t really need…” “I lied. I didn’t have anything previous or expensive to give you. That was just an excuse just so that I could see you again.” “Mrs. Ring, I really don’t mind… meeting you was probably the greatest thing that has happened in my life.” “I am sorry for hiding this from you for so long. So to make it up, here, take this.” Ring put a key in my hooves. “It’s to my house. You don’t need any excuse any more. Come by any time you want. I really enjoy your company.” I nodded. I love this idea. Before this I have always regretted being born. I had been sitting on the edge of clouds with my wings tied to my back, mind going back and forth between jumping off or not. I have never thought of being loved and trusted like this. “Thank you.” Since that day, every time I ran into trouble, I would hold onto the key Ring gave me tight. The key was like a battery, giving me energy every time I touch it. It makes me feel joy and happiness. The key was put in the books given to me by Ring as a bookmark, and I placed it carefully under my text books. Chapter 4After a few days, I visited Ring again. But I didn’t feel so well. Just a few hours ago, some friends of Derpy were teasing me. They said some really mean things about my hair and my shirts. I would try to be clean too, but the fact that I sleep and live right next to the kitchen garbage can doesn’t allow me. Ring opened the door. She was coughing a lot. “Sorry, I think…” her words were interrupted by coughing, “I think I caught some cold last night.” She poured another cup of coffee. “Hurpy, what’s wrong? You looked different today?” “Huh? Oh no, I think I just… ate too much lunch.” “Ate too much? Really?” Ring looked at my face closely. How could her eyes be so crystal clear? I felt like she could see through my soul. I moved my hoof up to my chest. “Up here… it felt like it’s a little hard to breath…” I can’t continue any more. Ring patted me silently. “Something unhappy must have happened, right?” She said as she took me to the living room. “Here, smile. You are much prettier when you are happy.” She grabbed onto my cheeks and forced me into a smile. “Ouch ouch. Ahh I look so stupid in the mirrow. I’m feeling better so please let go.” “Really? That’s good.” Ring started coughing again. It sounded like she was in a lot of pain. I started getting really worried. “Are you sure you are all right?” “Yeah I am fine. Hey, next time let’s go on a trip together, Hurpy. Right now, you are my most important family.” “Can we just take a trip and never come back?” “Sure, we will travel around the world. I will just take you as my other granddaughter that I have never had.” You can’t be serious. I thought. She must be possessed by my thought or something. Because I had always been thinking if only Ring was my grandma. Ring smiled and pointed at the mirror. I followed her hooves and found myself smiling just like Derpy. When I leave Ring’s house, I tried to walk around like Derpy as well, bouncy and confident. Suddenly, I realized that I had been walking with my necks bent my entire life. I thought about Ring when I was doing homework at home. That’s when mom came back. She was holding her laptop in her hooves. She had always treasured her laptop. Once she put it on the table and I touched it a few times. “Don’t touch it with your dirty hooves!” Mom threw a plate at me, which shattered and gave me a few cuts. From that moment I realized the laptop was much more important than my life, and I would not dare go anywhere near it again. She looked tired when she got home, but as soon as she saw me her face turned into a scary red. But when she heard Derpy calling her in the bed room, her face returned calm and loving again. She walked into the room. I put my hooves on my chest, thanking Celestia for not having more bruises on my body. “Mom, don’t you think Hurpy has been acting weird around lately?” I heard Derpy talking. “Like she had just met some new friends. I saw her reading books and comics.” I felt my body temperature drop and my heart jump. Mom walked out of the room with a poker face. She moved in front of me and started looking through my stuff as if I wasn’t even there. Finally, at the bottom of the text books, she found three books that Ring had given me. “What are these?” She waved the books in my face. I had to answer. If I don’t, I would get hit really, really bad. “I borrowed them…” She slammed the door against my muzzle. I fell backwards onto the floor. “BORROWED THEM? Are you telling me, that some pony like YOU, actually got a friend? You STOLE these, didn’t you? I work so hard to feed you, why do you have to be such a bad child!!!” Derpy came into the room and saw us. She said with a tone mixed with pity, “Mom, forgive her. Maybe she just lost her mind for a second.” “Awww Derpy, you are such an understanding child.” Mom smiled at Derpy, and she turned back to me. “And YOU, you are just the worst. Derpy, you should go back in your room.” Derpy winked me. Her lips formed the words “Good luck.” And she walked back into her room, closing her door behind her. Mom pulled me up and forced me onto a chair. She walked up behind me and ran her hooves down my neck like a snake. I knew I was going to get beaten up again, so I didn’t bother moving. “Have I been bad to you? The only times I hit you was because you were a bad kid, right?” “Y…yes mom.” (Author’s note: I can’t fucking write this, just too depressing. My heart literally aches from how sad this is. ) Mom’s hooves suddenly clopped together rightly around my neck, choking me. “No… mom…. STOP!” I struggled, screaming. “I hate the noise you are making. I raised you until today, can’t you have some respect for me?” She added more force into her hooves. I can’t make any noise any more. I can’t breathe, and I can’t even beg her to stop. My conscious stopped, and I felt like I was falling into an abyss of eternal darkness. When I woke up, I was lying down on the floor, saliva dripping out of the corner of my mouth. On top of me was mom, looking down at me as if I was some kind of unworthy bug. “I am sick of you. I will kill you some day. You are twins, but why are you so different from Derpy? I hate everything you do, the way you talk the way you walk. You disgust me.” She took away the three books and disappeared in her room. I felt blood moving up with Oxygen into my brain. I couldn’t move on the floor, but I have made up my mind. I have to leave. Another day in the house is another chance to get killed. if there was anything I did that went against her will, I will be dead. I need to leave with Ring and Susan. Let’s just leave here and never ever come back. Then I remembered something important. The key that Ring gave me was in one of those three books. Chapter 5 (The Ending)The second day was Saturday and I had no school. Mom said she will be back at 6 pm and left. Derpy went to a friend’s party and won’t be home the entire day. I was left home alone. I took my chance and went into my mom’s room. This was the first time I have gone into mom’s room for a long time. If she found out, she would probably kill me. The key was the most important connection between Ring and me. If I lost the books, Ring would probably forgive me. But I can’t lose the keys. I won’t forgive myself. Mom’s room was very organized and spotlessly clean. On the table there was a vase with flowers in it, and there was her laptop on the side. The bed was enormous. To others it might be just a normal queen sized bed, but I thought you could fit at least six fillies in there. On the side there was a CD player, and next to it was a shelf with a lot of CD’s. I have never listened to any music, but mom and Derpy had been talking a lot about music that I don’t know of. In the corner of the room there were Ring’s books. I walked over and took out the key. I decided to keep the book the way it was. If I take the books, mom would find out. I was just about to leave the room when I heard hoof steps coming this way. Some pony was walking in. I felt my whole body froze any my heart started beating extremely fast. I looked around and decided to hide underneath the bed. I quickly bent down and crawled under. When I heard the door open, my heart skipped a step and I almost saw my life flash in front of me. It was Derpy. I saw her hooves moving from the door to where the CD shelf was. She was humming music and I could hear the noise of CD discs being moved around. I guess she was just borrowing some music CD’s from mom. She finally turned around and was about to leave. Then suddenly. I heard a loud crack. The sudden noise made me scream a little, but Derpy didn’t find out because she screamed a little just like me too. I heard the noise of her putting CD disc back, and then she ran out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Her hoof steps became distant and I was finally able to crawl out. I looked at the desk and gasped. Derpy had accidently knocked over the vase and water was all over the laptop. I remembered mom’s face from yesterday, looking down at me like the reaper. This is so much more serious. Me and Derpy, who would she think did this? Of course she would blame it on me. I quickly ran out of the house. I flew down the sky and landed in front of Ring’s house. I knocked on the door. The only way I could live now is for Ring to take me in. But when the door opened, a young filly with make ups trotted out. She looked at me from top to bottom, and she said, “Who are you?” I think this is Ring’s granddaughter. “I am looking for Mrs. Ring.” “My last name is Ring too. But you must be looking for Granny Ring. Well, she’s dead, all right. In the morning the neighbors heard the dog barking, and then I came and found her dead in her room.” She sighed. “It’s all…” “It’s Saturday, for Celestia’s sake. Give me a break.” Some pony inside yelled, “Who is it Jane?” She turned her neck and said, “I don’t know, don’t know her!” She turned back to me and sighed, “Well, that’s just great. She just died, what should we do with the dog? Throw it out on the street?” At that moment I suddenly thought, “Celestia, please, would it be okay if I choke this bitch to death right now?” But eventually I just left the room. I trotted to the forest and sat down on the same rock where I found Susan. I curled up as much as I can and closed my eyes. I still can’t believe that Ring had already left me. That’s just not fair. I thought. The sun is setting, and mom is about to get home. I saw on the rock motionlessly. I saw a little puddle of clear water under my feet. At first I thought they were from my tears, but soon I realized that I was right next to a lake. Then suddenly, I saw Derpy flying by right above me. I thought I was hallucinating things, but it was really Derpy! She was flying high in the air with her neck raised. She had a bag in her hooves filled with delicious food. “Derpy! WAIT!” I immediately took off and caught up. Derpy’s eyes opened up wide as she saw me. “Derpy, please, apologize to mom what you did in her room!” “You mean you know about it?” “Yes, please tell mom about it.” “No, I don’t want to make her angry.” Derpy shook her head. “Just let her think that you did it. Aren’t you already used to having her being mad at you? I don’t want to make her angry.” I suddenly found it hard to breathe again. If I had a knife, I would really love to open up my chest to let the things inside out. “But you were the one who broke the vase.” I begged her. “Darnit, you are so dumb. Just pretend that you did it, and take it for me. Apologize to mom when she gets back, get it?” “I…WHAT?” She said like it was obvious, like I should have taken the blame for her. I liked her, really. But that was ten seconds ago. I suddenly felt everything inside my chest disappear, and my breath returned normal. “Any way, listen, she found out it was you already.” Derpy’s face turned pale. “NO WAY!” “Yes way. I heard she yelling something about the CD not being in order. She was quite mad about it.” Derpy looked at me. “Are you sure?” “Absolutely.” “But but… I don’t want to get her mad and get beaten up just like you!!!” Derpy started crying. I pretended to think for a while, and then suddenly I jumped and said, “I know, let’s just switch for today.” “What do you mean?” “You give me your shirts and I give you mine. You pretend to be me and I pretend to be you. I will take the blame for you.” “Would that be okay?” “It’s only for a day. We look exact the same. You just have to look like you are really, really sad. Then you would be fine. Even if mom gets mad, I will take it for you.” We exchanged cloth. Derpy gave me everything, from her hoof watch to her socks. I gave her my dirty cloths and we both put them on. Derpy used some water to mess up her hair. She frowned as she put on my clothes, “It smells funny.” I put some water on my hair and made it as smooth as possible. I looked in the mirror and smiled. The reflection was indeed Derpy, not Hurpy. I pressed the corner of my mouth. Suddenly I remembered Ring’s words. I felt something like tear flowing down my cheeks. I washed them off as much as possible. “Hurpy! What are you doing? LET’S GO!” We flew towards our house, but Derpy quickly stopped. “We have never returned home together since second grade. This is a bit unnatural.” So we played rock paper scissors. Thirty times in a row we got the same thing. Maybe because we were twins, the order we play were the same too. The thirty first time, I won, so Derpy had to go back first, pretending to be Hurpy. I watched her as she walked into our house from the other end of the street. The bag she was carrying was now carried by me, making plastic noises next to my knees. The sun was setting and the road turned red and golden. “Derpy!” I turned around and saw a neighbor. She said, “How’s school going for you?” Naturally, I smiled and said, “Not bad, it’s been quite fun.” And then suddenly she screamed and pointed behind me. I turned around and saw a small gray dot flying out of the window of our house and fell downwards towards the earth. I returned to the house. Mom told me to write a fake last letter for Hurpy. I accepted and mom said, “you are such a good kid, mommy loves you so much.” These are words that I could only hear in my dreams. Since it’s a letter for my “big sister”, it’s quite easy. I just had to write my own thoughts. There was nothing suspicious about Hurpy’s suicide. The night began to fall and the ponies who gathered to watch slowly disappeared into the darkness. Some police ponies came and asked us questions. We answered them all with on difficulty. Mom still haven’t found out about me, but soon she will realize the truth. I decided to pack my trunk and leave tonight. We returned home late at night. I was tired, and mom was too. She was relieved as soon as she got home. Even though my death won’t make mom sad, I found this depressing a little depressing. Then again, I apologized silently to the real Derpy who is no longer alive. After mom returned to her room, I went back to my room too. Derpy’s room was filled with all kinds of toys, and it was rather messy. After making sure mom was asleep, I found a huge bag and put some cloth and food inside, then I left the house quietly. I ran towards Ring’s house to get Susan. I was worried if she was still in the house, but when I got there I found her tied next to the front door. I guess the funeral for Ring was inside and Susan wasn’t allowed in. It is sad that the only two creatures who actually cared for Ring didn’t get to attend the funeral. Susan saw me and her tail waved with the force that could start a tornado. I untied the rope and took her away, feeling sorry for not being able to attend Ring’s funeral. I walked towards the train station and climbed onto the back of a train. I have no money, no parents, and I had no idea where I was going. However, holding onto the key, I felt like there is nothing that could stop me. -The End-
Chapter 1If mom wants to kill me, how would she do it?
-The End-
