After a few days, I visited Ring again. But I didn’t feel so well. Just a few hours ago, some friends of Derpy were teasing me. They said some really mean things about my hair and my shirts. I would try to be clean too, but the fact that I sleep and live right next to the kitchen garbage can doesn’t allow me.

Ring opened the door. She was coughing a lot.

“Sorry, I think…” her words were interrupted by coughing, “I think I caught some cold last night.”

She poured another cup of coffee.

“Hurpy, what’s wrong? You looked different today?”

“Huh? Oh no, I think I just… ate too much lunch.”

“Ate too much? Really?”

Ring looked at my face closely. How could her eyes be so crystal clear? I felt like she could see through my soul.

I moved my hoof up to my chest.

“Up here… it felt like it’s a little hard to breath…”

I can’t continue any more. Ring patted me silently.

“Something unhappy must have happened, right?”

She said as she took me to the living room.

“Here, smile. You are much prettier when you are happy.”

She grabbed onto my cheeks and forced me into a smile.

“Ouch ouch. Ahh I look so stupid in the mirrow. I’m feeling better so please let go.”

“Really? That’s good.”

Ring started coughing again. It sounded like she was in a lot of pain. I started getting really worried.

“Are you sure you are all right?”

“Yeah I am fine. Hey, next time let’s go on a trip together, Hurpy. Right now, you are my most important family.”

“Can we just take a trip and never come back?”

“Sure, we will travel around the world. I will just take you as my other granddaughter that I have never had.”

You can’t be serious. I thought. She must be possessed by my thought or something. Because I had always been thinking if only Ring was my grandma.

Ring smiled and pointed at the mirror. I followed her hooves and found myself smiling just like Derpy. When I leave Ring’s house, I tried to walk around like Derpy as well, bouncy and confident. Suddenly, I realized that I had been walking with my necks bent my entire life.

I thought about Ring when I was doing homework at home. That’s when mom came back. She was holding her laptop in her hooves. She had always treasured her laptop. Once she put it on the table and I touched it a few times.

“Don’t touch it with your dirty hooves!”

Mom threw a plate at me, which shattered and gave me a few cuts. From that moment I realized the laptop was much more important than my life, and I would not dare go anywhere near it again.

She looked tired when she got home, but as soon as she saw me her face turned into a scary red. But when she heard Derpy calling her in the bed room, her face returned calm and loving again. She walked into the room. I put my hooves on my chest, thanking Celestia for not having more bruises on my body.

“Mom, don’t you think Hurpy has been acting weird around lately?” I heard Derpy talking.

“Like she had just met some new friends. I saw her reading books and comics.”

I felt my body temperature drop and my heart jump. Mom walked out of the room with a poker face. She moved in front of me and started looking through my stuff as if I wasn’t even there. Finally, at the bottom of the text books, she found three books that Ring had given me.

“What are these?”

She waved the books in my face.

I had to answer. If I don’t, I would get hit really, really bad.

“I borrowed them…”

She slammed the door against my muzzle. I fell backwards onto the floor.

“BORROWED THEM? Are you telling me, that some pony like YOU, actually got a friend? You STOLE these, didn’t you? I work so hard to feed you, why do you have to be such a bad child!!!”

Derpy came into the room and saw us. She said with a tone mixed with pity, “Mom, forgive her. Maybe she just lost her mind for a second.”

“Awww Derpy, you are such an understanding child.” Mom smiled at Derpy, and she turned back to me. “And YOU, you are just the worst. Derpy, you should go back in your room.”

Derpy winked me. Her lips formed the words “Good luck.” And she walked back into her room, closing her door behind her.

Mom pulled me up and forced me onto a chair. She walked up behind me and ran her hooves down my neck like a snake. I knew I was going to get beaten up again, so I didn’t bother moving.

“Have I been bad to you? The only times I hit you was because you were a bad kid, right?”

“Y…yes mom.”

(Author’s note: I can’t fucking write this, just too depressing. My heart literally aches from how sad this is. )

Mom’s hooves suddenly clopped together rightly around my neck, choking me.

“No… mom…. STOP!”

I struggled, screaming.

“I hate the noise you are making. I raised you until today, can’t you have some respect for me?”

She added more force into her hooves. I can’t make any noise any more. I can’t breathe, and I can’t even beg her to stop. My conscious stopped, and I felt like I was falling into an abyss of eternal darkness. When I woke up, I was lying down on the floor, saliva dripping out of the corner of my mouth. On top of me was mom, looking down at me as if I was some kind of unworthy bug.

“I am sick of you. I will kill you some day. You are twins, but why are you so different from Derpy? I hate everything you do, the way you talk the way you walk. You disgust me.”

She took away the three books and disappeared in her room. I felt blood moving up with Oxygen into my brain. I couldn’t move on the floor, but I have made up my mind. I have to leave. Another day in the house is another chance to get killed. if there was anything I did that went against her will, I will be dead. I need to leave with Ring and Susan. Let’s just leave here and never ever come back.

Then I remembered something important. The key that Ring gave me was in one of those three books.
