A Golden Opportunity
Chapter 1: The Graduation
Load Full StoryNext ChapterI was in my room, thinking about all the possible ideas when I peruse my dream, but I didn't have time to think about that now. I was finally going to graduate high school on a scholarship of the Wonderbolt Reserves. It didn't have anything to do with my sis being the captain of the 'Bolts, it was because I was an amazing flier.
I was so nervous, preparing a speech is no piece of cake if you want it to be true and real. "Phew, okay Flair... you got this. Pretend that you're just talking to Spitfire... *gulp* times a hundred." I wearily said to myself. I looked down at my jet black hooves and sighed. "Well, the worst that's gonna happen is that th- okay, you're doing it agaaaiiin... I'm going to just tackle this thing, yeah!!!"
"Flair!!!! hurry up, you're going to be late!!!!!!!!" Spitfire yelled from downstairs.
"Ugh... coming, Spits!" I walked down the stairs slowly until I reached the bottom. "Sooo.... uhmm, how do I look?" I asked with an awkward chuckle. I was wearing a dark red gown that draped down nicely over my flank. Gray trimming sat upon my left shoulder. My hair was in a messy bun with a few strands falling out and was covering my left eye, the blue eye.
Spitfire just started at me until she finally said something. "I-I never thought I would see my little sister like this..."
I rolled my eyes. "haha, yup. Little sis is all grown up!"
"I never thought... Anyway, do you have your speech ready?" Spitfire asked, smiling at me.
"Uhhh... yes. I'm so scared to say it in front of sooo. many. ponies!!!!" I started to panic.
"Hey hey, it's okay. You'll do great! Trust me." Spitfire put her hoof on my bare shoulder. I sighed.
"I know, I've just never given a speech before."
"It's alright, but we really need to get going. So, c'mon! " Spitfire trotted to the door and went outside.
"Okay, phew I'm ready." I trotted out the door, and began to make my way to my school.
I arrived to the gym, where the graduation was being held. I saw my friend, Comet Shine. "Comet!!!! Haiii!!!!!" I ran over to her and hugged her.
"Hallo, Electro! We're finally graduating!!! Huzzah!" She squealed.
"Hurhur, I'm finally going to be a Wonderbolt!!!! Can you believe i-" My sentence was broken by the sound of the musicians playing "Pomp&Circumstance". I instantly ran to the other side of the building, where all of my classmates were standing, ready to slowly walk in.
The principal called us in alphabetical order. When my name came up, I nervously walked down the aisle, toward the rest of my friends and classmates.
When my whole class was up on stage, the music stopped and the principal walked up to the podium. "Good evening, everypony. I'm principal Spectrum Chaser and I will be presenting the award for this 2015 graduating class of Cloudsdale High School. Let's welcome Mrs. Blitz presenting the most outstanding math award.
I was standing there, as the awards were given out. Bored as all heck and had only gotten 2 awards. Most outstanding athlete and mathematician. It was almost time for my speech. I was sweating and getting ready to drive the porcelain bus. 'phew... okay, don't panic.. don't.' "Now, lets give a warm welcome to a mare who has shown us her loyalty, skill and determination. I am happy to introduce.... Electronic Flair!!!"
'*gulp* here goes..' I walked down and almost tripped over my dress, but caught my balance. I felt sick to my stomach and ready to just run away and hide. No..... I can't... This is Flair, an unstoppable pony with heroism. I had made it to the podium with my speech on hoof. "*sigh* Hello, my name is Electronic Flair. Or, just Flair. I'm coming tonight to give a speech about joining the Wonderbolts Reserves." I looked back at my friend, who was signaling me to keep on going. "I was offered a choice either to go in, or stay at a random university. And.. my choice is the Reserves. I hope I won't let any of you down. I'll try my best to make a change within the team and to help it be better. And I'm very honored. So, I'm putting this speech to a close. Farewell everypony." I finished.
I then walked back up to the stage and stood next to Comet. "That was awesome, man." She said, giving me a wide grin.
"Thanks, boy that was nerve rackin'. I was almost getting ready to throw my cookies." I laughed.
"Haha, yeah. Anyway the musicians are getting ready again. Move 'em out." Comet said, giggling.
The principal walked back up to the podium and started to hand out diplomas. Calling us by order from who was on the top row, and who was on the bottom.
When my name was called, I walked down and the principal slowly whispered in my ear as I came up. "That speech was amazing." She whispered. I smiled.
"Thanks." Then I slowly made my way up to the stage again.
The musicians started to play again, the Mrs. Spectrum Chaser came up and said with pride."And here, folks, we have the graduating class of 2015!" The front row started walking out, following the beat of the music.
As soon as I walked out of the room and made my way to the front of the gym, I was instantly greeted by my sister, who hugged me as hard as she could. "I'm so proud of you!! That speech was amazing!! Told you, you'd be fine." By the look in Spitfire's eye, I saw that she was beaming with pride. I was as well, and just to think, in a few days, I will be at the Reserves and preforming, right by the 'Bolt's side...
