Sorry we couldn't find Button's mom's actual name, so we sticked with "Button's mom," or something like that. Sorry guys, bare with me here.
Mashing All of Mommy's Buttons
It’s spring time in Equestria, and everypony is enjoying the wonderful sunshine that’s controlled by the Princess herself.
Little Button Mash was on his way to a new arcade that just opened up about a week ago in Ponyville. Since there’s only about four weeks of school left, and that Button just loves to play video games, he couldn’t wait any longer to see the new arcade that just opened up.
He wanted to invite his good friend, Sweetie Belle, over there, but her and Rarity had to take care of some family business back in Manehattan for the weekend.
On Button’s back, he’s carrying a bag full of bits that his mother gave him. He would clean up the house. up and down, all around.
At last, Button Mash is right in front of the new Ponyville Arcade.
“Cool!” Button screamed to himself. “I can’t wait to see all these cool games!”
Button Mash stormed into the arcade, and as soon as he trotted in, his eyes widen. He’s now in video game heaven.
“Wow.” Button mumbled to himself. “I wonder what game should I play first!”

You heard that there’s a new arcade in Ponyville that opened up last week. You looked at your calendar, and start to think. Since that it’s a Saturday, and it’s the first week of May, it can be tough for you to find a job since that half the town’s scared of you, and that the rest got used to you pretty well.
Even though it can be tough to find a job here at such a young age, you did get a chance to work at Sugarcube Corner with a pink party pony who was always fun to hang out with sometimes.
You do have the weekend off, and you have enough coins (or as they put it “Bits”) from all the hard work you did, so why not go for it?
You made your way down to the Ponyville Arcade. You remember that you went to one when you were a kid at Chuck E Cheese when you were like eight years old. You also remembered that you had a ton of fun there.
Alot of really fun games that can be so addicting. and tons of prizes you could win.
No time passes as you finally reached the Arcade. The place looks huge and has all those fancy lights on it. Wish you could go back to the good ol’ days, huh?
You put your hand on the door handle, and take a deep breath to calm your nerves. Hoping that the fillies and colts won’t scream at you and run away, and that the manager would kick you out for that.
You push the door handle open, and as you entered...
“Hi, welcome to the Ponyville Arcade.” You hear a male voice behind the counter. You looked at him as he waves a hoof at you. Though you’re still a little bit shy, you waved back at him and gave him a smile.
You begin to make your way to the big room where all the fun starts. There are tons of cool games to play, and some other stuff that can be mind blowing. You’re now hoping that they have Laser Tag.
With your hands in your pockets, feeling the bits in one of the pockets, you make your way to one of the games, and you begin playing. Surprisingly, none of the fillies & colts have noticed you, or some might remember you from somewhere, you don’t know, and you focused your eyes back on the game screen.
As you finished that game, you made your way down the hallway. Colts have waved at you, and you waved back with a smile on your face. Fillies would do the same, and they would whisper in each others ears, look at you, and giggle. You really hated it when girls did that when you were still in High School.
Then, you came across a game that you’re familiar with. It looked like it was... Guitar Hero. This made your eyes go wide in surprise, you remember Guitar Hero, one of the coolest games around, even from your world.
You grabbed a bit from your pocket, insert it into the coin slot, and selected a song. You decide to put it on hard, since that you’re a pro at this game.
Time passes on as you just finished playing three songs in a row. Fillies and colts were watching you at how amazing you were at the game.
“Wow, that guy’s cool!” You hear a colt beside you.
“I know, he’s amazing!” A filly said that’s beside you as well. “What do you think Button Mash, you think you can play like that?”
“I don’t know. I’ve never played Guitar Equestria before. But I can try.” A brown coated colt walks in front of you, this must be the young colt that they call “Button mash” that you’ve been hearing about..
He has a little fan like hat on his head, has brown eyes, and what looks like a tail that’s been cut off, or was he born with it. You don’t know.
“Okay,” He said as he grabbed the guitar controller. “How do you play this?”
“I’ll show you.” You said as you sat down right beside him. You explained to him what the green, red, yellow, blue, and orange button was for. You even showed him the tutorial on how to play the game, and sooner or later, he’s playing on the easy mode like a boss.
You decide to go easy on him, since that this is his first time playing a game like this. You didn’t miss a single note, due to being on easy mode. Button on the other hand has missed some.
After the game ends, you both congratulate each other on a good game.
“Wow, this is so cool!” He yells. “I’m Button Mash, what’s your name?” You introduced yourself. “Cool. Hey, you still got time to play some fun games? It’s Saturday, and I don’t have school till Monday, and it’s my last month of school!”
“Sure man. I can still stick around here for a while. I’m off work for the weekend.”
“Alright!”
After that day, you and Button Mash played a ton of fun games till he ran out of bits, and you did too. But you still got spare back at home, so there’s no need to panic that you’re not going to lose your house.

By the end of that afternoon, you and Button Mash hanged out in the front of the arcade and having a nice bottle of water.
“So you like to play video games too, huh?” You asked Button as you take a sip.
“Uh-huh. That’s usually what I really like to do. I don’t have a cutie mark either, but I don’t really care about that.”
“That’s cool, dude. I like to play video games too, but I can’t spend much time on them as you do. Since that I have work.”
“Where do you work at?”
“Sugarcube Corner.”
“I love that place!” Button said. “They make great milkshakes! What do you do there?”
“Eh, I usually help out a pony named Pinkie Pie. I help her clean the tables, make cakes, etc.”
“Cool.” Button’s eyes widen in surprise. “But anyways, I don’t think I’ve seen you before till the arcade. What are you, and where do you come from?”
You begin to explain to Button mash about Earth, and that you’re a human who’s not from Equestria at all. How life is on Earth and what not. You even tell him that there are also video games there, some that you love a lot, like Grand Theft Auto 5, Call of Duty Black Ops 1 and 2. Button’s eyes widen in surprise, you know he will probably ask questions back and forth like what’s this, or what’s that.
“Oh cool. I didn’t know you had video games where you’re from!” Button said.
“Yeah, we do.” You said as you took the last slurp of your water bottle.
“Hey, I got a few video games at my house. Wanna come by sometime?” Button asks you. You weren’t really sure how that would turn out. You and Button’s parents. Would you get along with them if they don’t mind that you’re a human and all?
“Oh Button sweetie, there you are.” You hear a female voice.
“Hi mom.” Button said. So this is his mom, huh? She’s a tan Earth pony who has really long hair with a band-tie on her hair, or mane as they call it. She also has a heart with a baby bottle as her cutie mark.
“Oh I see you made a new friend.” His mom said as she sees you. She flashes you a smile,as you smiled back as well when Button introduces you. “Oh that’s nice. I’m Button’s mom.”
“Hi.” You said to her.
“Come on Button. We got to head home, I have dinner waiting on the table.”
“Oh, mom. Can he come over and play video games?”
Button’s mom giggles. “Maybe tomorrow, Button. It’s getting late, and you do need to get in the bed early tonight. Aren’t you excited that it’s your last month of school?”
“Uh-huh.” Button nods his head.
“Alright.” Button’s mom looks at you. “Come by tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I will. See you tomorrow Button!” You said as you waved goodbye to him. Button and his mother waved back at you. You begin to make your way back at home so you can get a good night’s rest.

The Next Day.
It’s now Sunday morning, and you begin to stretch you limbs as you’ve been woken up by Princess Celestia’s sun.
You make your way downstairs and make yourself some breakfast. Munching away on your morning waffles.
Next you took a shower, feeling the warm water rush down your body as you washed the tiredness away.
You remember last night that you met a colt named Button Mash and his mom at that new arcade you went. You two have become good friends, and you can’t wait to hang out and play video games with him. This is gonna be a fun day.

You begin to walk around Ponyville, and you begin to think about plans for today before you got work tomorrow.
You look at the ponies as they walk around doing their usual stuff that they normally do. You came across the fountain that’s in the center of town, and sat there for a little bit. Thinking about today's plans.
‘What to do before I head over to Button’s today.’ You think to yourself. As your finger taps on the fountain as you think…
“Oh hey, there you are. What’s up?” You hear a voice from behind you. You look back, and it’s Button Mash.
“Oh, hey dude.” You said to him. “I didn’t notice you, how’ve you been?”
“I’ve been good. I was walking around until I saw you.” Button mash said with a smile.
“Oh that’s cool.” You said to him. “I was doing the same thing. But I couldn’t think of anything else to do today.”
Button Mash puts a hoof to his chin as he’s thinking. Then an idea pops into his head.
“We could go to my house and play video games. You and I talked about that last night.”
“Oh yeah. I remember that.” You said to him. “Wanna head over there right now? Or, are you or your parents busy?”
“Nah, we can head over there and play some games.”
“Awesome.” You said. Button leads the way since you have no clue where his house is. Since that he lives in Ponyville, it shouldn’t be too far away.
What felt like a few minutes have passed as you and Button reached his house. You and Button stood outside for a minute when his mother pops her head out.
“Oh, hi Button. You’re home early.” His mom also said hi to you as she saw you too.
“Hi.” You said to her as you waved at her. You and Button Mash both entered their home, as you walked in, there's not really that much to say. This is a nice house to be in. “Huh.” You mumbled as you come to a stand still.
“My room’s up this way!” Button said as you followed him up to his room.
“Have fun you two!” Button’s mom calls out from below which you could barely hear from your shoes stomping on the stairs.
You entered Button’s room, and he has a ton of toys, and also a ton of video games.
“Check it out.” Button said as he showed you the games that he has with him. You’re surprised at how much games he’s got. Especially a device that reminds you of a classic gameboy you used to play.
“Jeez, Button, you have so many good games.” You said to him.
“I know right? Which one do you wanna play first?”
You start to think about which game you like to try out. You pull the box of games he has so it may be easier. Finally, you pick out the one you see. You pull it out.
“This one.” You said to him. “It has a cool look to it, and it sounds pretty cool.”
“Oh, that game’s one of my favorites.” Button says to you. He grabs it from you and puts it in the console. He hands you a second remote that he has in case he has friends that would play with him.
These controllers are a tad bit smaller than the controllers you know from home. You will get used to them, eventually. You hope.
About an hour has passed, and you and Button have beat the game. it was fun due to how those two ponies wrestled. You couldn’t stop laughing at how it was, and Button was the same when he kept taking down your character. They act like a drunk couple who can’t even keep up with whatever they would have on them.
As the day goes by, you and Button Mash would have a ton of fun with video games, or him showing you some toys that he has. Some which you thought they were cool, and never even heard of. It’s amazing on what these ponies have and humans don’t.
You did get to eat dinner with Button’s family, and they already starting to like you. Even Button’s older brother thinks you’re cool too. Everyone except his dad who you think doesn’t have a good feeling about you.
He would give you an odd look acting like he will climb right across from the table and kill you. As you give him that ‘are you alright?’ look, he just shakes his head at you. What’s wrong with him?
After dinner and thanking Button’s mom for it, you and Button decide to go back upstairs to play more video games. As you’re walking up the stairs, you can hear mumbling from Button’s parents.
“What is that thing?”
“Honey, I just told you, he’s a friend of Button’s.” You hear Button’s mom.
“Well I’ve never seen him before, and I certainly wouldn’t want a creature like that in my house!” You start to run up the stairs as you hear Button’s dad’s voice when they’re talking about you.
You dash into Button’s room and he’s already on his video game.
“Oh hey, dude!” Button said to you. “Hey, are you alright?” Button sees that expression on your face that something might be up. You just heard that his parents might be arguing about you.
“Yeah man. I’m fine. Just… thinking, that’s all.” You said to him as you’re sitting down next to him.
“Okay then.” Button said. “Hey, there’s this one cool game that I don’t think you tried out yet. It’s pretty fun.” He shows you the game that he’s playing what looks like a racing game. Except that they’re ponies, and not cars. This seems pretty fun to play.
You and Button would take turns on the game and it was pretty fun. Though, the controllers were pretty tough for you, due to it being a little bit smaller then your controllers back at home.
You’re thinking about buying a gaming console yourself so that way when you play your games, it wouldn’t be so difficult when you get used to it.
After you two had fun with video games, and with button’s older brother too. You had to get home in order to be at work tomorrow. You and Button walk down the stairs while his older brother went to bed.
“Well Button,” You said. “I’ll see you probably sometime soon?”
“Yeah, I still got some time. Maybe tomorrow after school? What time do you get off work?”
“I get off at around like three o'clock.” You said as you look at your watch. “I usually don’t do much at work except help out, but yeah, I’ll stop by or we can meet up somewhere.”
“Alright cool.” Button said. “I’ll see you tomorrow!”
“Alright, you sleep well.” You said, and as soon as he shuts the door, you can hear what sounds like arguing from above. You look up and noticed that Button’s parents window is open. You can only see their shadows as they move around the room and argue back and forth.
You have no idea what they’re talking about, all of it is mumbling to you.
“Time to go.” You mumble to yourself and hurried home.

The next day passed as you got off early since that Mr., and Mrs. Cake had to take a trip and that you and Pinkie Pie had to be in charge. But, since Pinkie Pie also has her friends to help her out, she let you go early, and it was a good time for you to go out and buy a new gaming console, which you did.
It’s not really bad and the hook ups were easy to install. This feels just like your game console back at your home world. The controllers were the same as Button’s was, but, you will get used to it somehow.
After playing the game that you bought, you’re starting to get used to it a little bit. That’s good, you’ll be playing like a pro when you practice using this thing. You look at your watch, and it’s already 2:30. Looks like you can leave to meet Button.
So you get up, and stretched your limbs, as you went to the center of town.

A few minutes passed and you’re standing in front of Button’s front door. You can barely hear mumbling coming from behind the door, something is not right. It’s Button’s parents arguing again. What are they arguing about? This is making you nervous.
You knock on the door three times slowly, and you gulp just how things would be in there. You have no idea what might come out that door and hit you straight in the face.
Button’s mom opens the door.
“Oh hi.” She said as she finished the sentence with your name.
“Hey, is Button here? He said that we can meet up here last night.” You said.
“I think he’s already out looking for you. I think he’s going to your house.”
Wait, your house? You haven’t even gave him your address. Looks like you will have to search for him on foot.
“Okay, thanks, and I think I didn’t give him my address, so I’ll look for him.” You said.
“Alright.” Button’s mom chuckled. Until you hear Button’s dad screaming startling you both.
“Where are you!?! Get back in here, I’m not done talking to you!” Button’s dad screamed.
“Is he alright?” You ask.
“Oh, sorry. My husband is…”
“It’s alright. It’s none of my business, I’ll catch ya later.” You said as you walked off to find Button and wave his mom goodbye. She waves goodbye back at you as she goes back into her house to argue with her husband… Again.

No time passed as you found Button at the fountain where he’s sitting, he’s got that sad look on his face.
“Button Mash?” You said as you approached him.
“Oh, hi.” Button said as he looks up at you, then back at the ground with that sad look on his face.
“Dude, are you alright? You look… down. Anything you wanna talk about?” You said as you sat right beside him.
“Well…” Button starts to explain. “Mom and dad are arguing so much and it’s been happening since last night after you left. I didn’t even get much sleep last night because of it, and I don’t know what to do.”
“Yeah, I was at your house not too long ago. I could easily hear them arguing back and forth and your mom told me that you would be looking for me.” You said to him.
“Yeah, I was.”
“Anyways, wanna head down to my place to get your mind off of it? I got a new game console that I tried out, it’s pretty fun.” You said.
“Really?” Button said as he looks up at you.
“Yep, come on, let’s go.” You said as you got up.
“Alright!” Button said as he trots beside you and follows you to your house.
As you got there, he noticed that the place wasn’t really bad. With a TV that’s beside the stairs, and a couch with a table in the living room. Button’s eyes widen with surprise when he trots into your house.
“Is this the new console you bought?” Button said as he looks at it.
“Uh-huh. I’m finally getting used to it since that I’ve been playing it before I left here. Pinkie Pie let me off early since that the owners of Sugarcube Corner are on their trip. Don’t know where they’re headed.” You said as you turned on the TV and handed Button the controller. “Wanna take it for a spin, dude?”
“DO I?!?” Button said as he grabbed the controller, and you turned on the game console. He starts playing the game that you only have for this console, but Button didn’t mind. He’s just having fun.

A week has past as Button’s parents keep going at it for a while now. He told you that when he visited your place two days later, and you haven’t seen him ever since.
You’re sitting on your sofa just chilling when all of a sudden, a knock appears on your door. It startle you just a bit. You get up and walk to it and look through the peephole. It’s Button Mash.
You opened the door for him and he has that… sad look on his face.
“Hey Button, what’s wrong?” You ask him as you kneel down in front of him.
“My mom, she’s… Needs somepony to comfort her.” He said quietly.
“Is she alright?” You ask.
Button mash takes a deep breath. “Come with me.” He said. You nod and locked your door, and followed him to his house.
As you got there and entered his home. You noticed that his mother’s sobbing on the sofa, as Button’s brother tries to comfort her.
Button’s mom raises her head up when her gaze meets yours. You sat down on the couch next to her as she began to break out in tears on your shoulder.
“Hey,” You whispered. “What happened?”
“It’s my husband. He… He... “ She pauses, looks at her boys, then looks back at you. “He slept with another mare.”
“Oh my god.’ You said to her. “I’m so sorry. Is that why he’s not here right now?” You ask.
“Well *sniff* we would argue back and forth about our marriage not going so well. He would act really strange around me, and like I’m not a problem to him. We even argued about you.”
“Me?” You asked confused. She nods her head. “He’s been so angry every time you come over, he said he would kill you if he ever saw you here again.”
“Oh.” You said quietly.
“Wait, he didn’t… Hit you… Did he?” Ugh, just asking that just makes you want to cut those words out with a knife. You really didn’t want to ask that, but it was eating you up inside, so you had to. She nods her head as she’s saying “Yes” silently to you.
Your body froze as she gave you that answer. You apologized to her and hold her tightly. Then another question came up to you.
“How did you know he was sleeping with another mare, though?” You ask her.
“Well. It was last night. He told me that he had to go somewhere. I asked him, but he didn’t answer. He just trotted off. I followed him there without getting caught, and I saw him walking into a motel room. I sneaked at the window and there he was. With another mare. I kicked the door open and me and this… other mare fought back and forth until she found out that I was his wife. That’s it.” She said to you as she laid her head back on your chest.
You held her tightly and you stroke her mane to calm her down. You apologized to her again as she stays quiet, and a tear runs down her face and drips onto your shirt.
‘What can I do to make her feel less… lonely?’ You think to yourself. That’s a question that you really want to find out yourself, but you probably have to wait for that to come up in the future, since that there’s not a thing you can think of right now to make her feel better. You try to think as good as you can, but you don’t have anything right now.
You look at Button and his older brother, they don’t know what to do for their mom either. You took a deep breath and continue to pet her until you hear her hum in your touch.
‘Why not just stay here and comfort her for a bit before I have to go home tonight and leave for work?’ You think to yourself. ‘Oh wait, it’s Friday. I’m off for the wee-’
You stopped your thinking when an idea popped into your head.
‘Can I stay here for tonight? Maybe if she needed some company after what happened I’m sure she’ll take it.’
That could be a good idea, but you’re just hoping that she’ll take it. Because she needs somepony’s company, and you might be the only one besides her two colts.
“Uh… Want me to stay here for tonight and keep you company? I’m off work for the weekend, and…” You said as you pause yourself to think of anything else to say.
“Y-You would do that?” Button’s mom asks.
“What are friends for, right?” You said as you stroke her mane. She smiles and nods to you and she lays her head back on your chest with a smile on her face.
“Thank you.” She whispers.
“No problem.” You said as you continue to brush her mane and look back at Button and his brother. They smile at you knowing that you’re doing the right thing to comfort their mother while she went through a tough time, now that she’s currently going through a divorce.
After trying to think of where you need to sleep, you start to think about that. The couch feels like it’s not good enough. Button and his brother only have a king size bed. Wait a minute, that leads to…
“It’s okay.” Button’s mother said to you. “You can sleep with me if you want.”
“A-Are you sure?” You asked while she nods her head.
“I’m positive. My bed’s big enough for two.”
You’re now scared to look at Button and his brother since that you have a feeling that they might be giggling a bit because of that. But surprisingly, they didn’t. They just looked at you in shock.
“I-I-If that’s the only place there is, alright.” You said nervously.

The Next Day.
The two of you have been walking around Ponyville since this morning. You two went off as you’re trying to comfort her still, keeping her company while Button Mash’s brother takes him to get a milkshake from Sugarcube Corner.
Even though you’re off on weekends, they did say that you could get time off, since that you’re still not used to this place and haven’t found a nice job back at home. So, they let you take weekends off.
Meanwhile, you two just stopped at the water fountain just in the town center of Ponyville. Watching and hearing the birds chirp as you sit down on the fountain with Button’s mother by your side.
That smile never changes as she’s with you. A good friend that needs your company while she’s going through what you call “Hell.”
“Sooo…” Button’s mom said getting your attention. She pulls out an object from her little purse what looks like to you. Wait, is that… A camera?
“You don’t mind if I have a picture of you, do you?” She asks you.
“Um… Why?” You ask curiously.
“Oh, I thought that it’s just for keeping good memories.” She said giggling.
“Do you wanna be in the shot too?”
“Alright.”
You start to get in position as your fingers are now dangling in the fountain. You get that sitting back feeling when Button’s mom taps the button with a “click” and a bright light flashes, like it was blinding you.
“Good god that’s bright.” You said as you wiped your eyes after that flash and with a chuckle. “I didn’t know cameras from here have lights that bright.”
“Oh? Does your world have these too?” She asks getting closer to you.
“Well, yes, but… have the same function or whatever like your cameras do.” You said with a smile. She giggles as you finish your sentence, and you two decide to call it a day and head back to her place.
While you got back to Button’s house, you noticed that Button Mash and his brother are at the kitchen table drinking their shakes. There’s two more on the table as well, looks like they thought about you two.
“Where did you go, mom?” Button asks his mother.
“We just went walking, that’s about it, dear.” She said to her son.
“Alright mom.” Button’s older brother said. “We got you two some milkshakes if you want any.”
“Hey, thanks dude.” You said to Button’s brother.
“You three go on ahead without me. I’ll be right back.” She said as she went up the stairs when you see her disappear.
“So what did you two do?” Button asked.
“Eh, nothing much really. Just trying to keep her company as best as I can.” You said as you take a slurp of your milkshake.
“Yeah, she seems happier when you’re around, man. Ever since dad left, it hasn’t been the same.” Said Button’s brother.
“Yeah, my parents went through something like that too. It wasn’t pretty I can tell you that.” You said as you thought about your parents having a divorce. It really was terrible when they were, your mom’s boyfriend never treated you right, and he only got onto you for everything.
Never gets onto your older sister, never gets onto his kids. He would only get onto you, even for doing something that’s an accident.
You really hate thinking about that, even though it was in the past and you were a bit younger, you still can’t erase it away.
“Okay, I’m back.” Button’s mom said as she sits beside you and takes a sip of her milkshake.
“What did you have to do, mom?” Button questioned.
“Oh, I uh… I had to use the bathroom, that’s all.” She said with a smile on her face. Huh, you probably didn’t hear her when you and the two colts were chatting.
Eh, you left that aside for now, and just continued about chatting about… whatever comes to your mind.

The Next Day. Sunday.
You were in your house playing video games as you bought a new game last night. It’s pretty fun and… a bit violent. But oh well, it’s video games.
You hear a knock on your front door, you paused the game, sat the controller down, and peeked into the peephole. it’s Button.
You opened the door to let him in.
“Yo, Button, what’s u-” You stop yourself. He doesn’t look to good. is he sick?
“Uh… Button, you okay man? You don’t… Look to good.”
“Sorry man.” Button said to you. “Can I come in?”
“Yeah, sure.” You said as you let him in your house. You went to your kitchen and you grabbed him a juice box and you grabbed yourself one as well.
Button mash takes it out of your hand and he sips on it as soon as he puts the straw in it. You do the same.
“I didn’t get much sleep last night.” Button said.
“Your parents again? Is your dad back?” You asked without thinking.
“Actually.” Button said as he took another sip of his juice box. “Last night, I was trying to sleep. My brother went to go stay at a friend’s house for the rest of this week, and I was laying in bed, and I can hear my mom… Screaming.”
“Screaming?” This made you a bit nervous. Questions were sending through your mind back and forth. Could she have been in pain? Could she have sprung something? Could she might of hurt her hoof perhaps?
“Yeah.” Button said. “It would go on, and on, and on about all night. I didn’t know what to do? Should I charged in there to see what was going on? Well, I tried that, but the door was locked. You’re sitting in your house, on the couch with a drink in your hand and watching a little movie. You hear that everypony in town thinks that this movie is terrible from what you heard. Even your friend, Lyra, said it was. So you want to find out for yourself.
