Butterfly

Twilight groaned as her horn glowed, a scroll on her desk as a feathered quill floated around, trying to write what she wanted. She sighed to herself. She glanced down at the half-written letter, before sighing. Her magic dropped the quill, before she said to herself, closing her eyes with frustration. ''No, that's not it.''

''Twi, you been at this for a while. You need a calm down.'' said Fluttershy, as she walked into the room. ''I know you want to tell the princesses about the foals, but you need to sleep.''

Twilight looked up at Fluttershy, gently asking. ''How's Bookworm?''

''She's in her crib. Nyx helped me put her to bed, before she headed to her bed.''

''Thanks for that.''

It had been a week since the incident, the mares had tried to settle down with the foals. Fluttershy had moved in with Twilight, at the crystal castle. Rarity and Applejack had changed the Apple Farm to have Rarity's Boutique as part of it. Pinkie managed to convince Discord to create a party castle just for her, Rainbow and Confetti Rain.

''Let me read it. Maybe I can help you.'' said Fluttershy, with a smile.

Twilight sighed, using her magic to levitate the letter over to Fluttershy. The writing was a mess, mainly due to Twilight being so tired. The mare sighed. ''You really need to get some sleep, Twi. I know your concerned about all this, but you really do need to get this off your mind for a little while and go up to bed. I can write the letter for you.''

''No, I should do this, Flutters.''

She took the letter back and continued to try and write it. Fluttershy grimaced and walked over to her marefriend. She gently wrapped her hooves around the other mare's neck and said. ''Twilight, how about you simply tell Princess Celestia about Bookworm and the others. With that, you can go into detail then at the end of the letter, you can ask her and Luna to come and meet the foals and tell us what she should about them.''

Twilight glanced up at Fluttershy, with curiosity before deciding to rewrite the letter from scratch using Fluttershy's idea, and she hoped that it would turn out better this time. It took a while to complete, but this time it was pretty good. Better then what she had down before. Twilight gently read through it and smiled.

Dear Princess Celestia,

I'm writing to you to ask about a strange occurrence that has happened to me and my friends. We were continuing the cleanup of your former castle in pairs to quicken to job. Me and Fluttershy, Rarity and Applejack and Pinkie and Rainbow. It started with me and Fluttershy, we had been cleaning the books in the library when I came across a strange pendent, shaped like a book. When me and Fluttershy touched the weird pendent together, something quite strange happened, light began to form from the pendent. It shifted and morphed into a baby alicorn, that looked like me and Fluttershy, we at first was quite surprised. Anypony would be if they saw a pendent form a baby just like that. However, we calmed down shortly after Fluttershy calmed the crying infant down and so we decided to name it. The name being Bookworm, while I looked for information.

A little while later, the other mares came back and we discovered that the others also now had foals of their own. Pinkie and Rainbow had a pegasus foal, that similar to Bookworm's case, looked just like them. They named their foal Confetti Rain, who has two nicknames Rainy and Conny. As for Rarity and Applejack, unlike everypony else, had two foals instead of one. Their foals are fraternal and so looked different from each other but similar to their parents. One of them was a unicorn, the other an earth pony. They decided to go with the names Melody for the unicorn and Harmony for the earth pony. All three of the foals were also wearing pendents, similar to the one that Bookworm was created from and has now wearing as well. Rainy had a raindrop shaped pendent, while the twins had music note pendents.

Okay, I had discovered something about the pendents. They are over 1000 years old, maybe even older then you and Luna. I had discovered a book called 'Papilion' which told the story of 3 mares who processed these pendents, Knowledge, Weather and Music. However, as their was only 3 pendents back then, it is hard to translate how this worked to make 4. I managed to figure out a theory though, because of Bookworm being a alicorn like me, I have a feeling the pendents wanted to make up for the lack of a pony type by changing one of the pendents into two and the pendent it choose happened to be music. They needed to fill the quota of pony types, one alicorn, one unicorn, one pegasus and one earth pony. As back when the Papilion existed, I don't believe their were alicorns.

Now, I wrote to you to tell you about the foals. I would also like to request you to come and visit the foals, and tell us what we should do about them as at the moment, everypony is raising their own foals and it is getting quite hard around. We're all having it pretty hard, raising infant foals when we have never done before. But if I were the say who was having it the hardest, I would have to say it would be me and Fluttershy due to raising a school-aged filly as well. Because of these difficulties, we need you to tell us what we should do about the foals and how we should raise them.

''Twi, that is a pretty good letter. I think the princess will come and help us with the foals.'' said Fluttershy, after she read the letter. ''But where is Spike?''

Twilight sighed to herself. ''He should be in his room, can you get him for me. I can't send a letter to the princess without him.''

Fluttershy nodded, leaving the room. It was a quick few minutes before she came back with a tired Spike. He groaned, took the letter, glared at Twilight, before breathing his fire on the letter, sending it to Princess Celestia. He glared at the mares once more, before walking back out of the room and back to his bedroom. Fluttershy looked at Twilight. ''That was pretty huffy.''

''Yeah, but I did need him.'' said Twilight, with a sigh. ''Now, lets go to bed now. Like you wanted to me.''
