A New World, Filled With Curiosity

On the Eve of Nightmare Night,

The folks all rest their heads with delight.

But one Quilava stayed awake,

The only sound was his watch's tick.

He stared outside, curiosity filled,

And for the moment, the world stilled.

Floating there was a lone Shuppet,

With eyes showing much covet.

He lit up his fire spot with Flash,

But nothing flowed except particles of ash.

Careful not to cause a stir,

He scurried out the open door.

Slowly walking towards the source,

He came across a shadow that looked like a horse.

He attempted to speak,

But nothing came out; not even a squeak.

He backed away out of fright,

Now realizing the error of his plight.

The shadow crept toward him,

The yellow eyes being the only part not dim.

Quilava ignited the fire in his terror,

While the darkness covered the ground and floor.

The shadows grasped at his light,

Extinguishing them to nothing but slight.

The horse cackled a broken voice,

Taunting the Quilava for his wrong choice.

Black consumed all the surrounding area,

The chill of the shadows stinging his paw.

Quilava attempted to run,

But the fearful shadow wasn't done.

A painful scratch struck his back,

The gash spreading its eternal black.

The Quilava writhed with agony

As he begged for tranquility.

From the corner of his eye,

The shadow began to spry.

It formed into something he truly feared,

One who he previously thought of as weird.

A human with a grievous smile.

Eyes shining with evil guile.

Quilava continued to squirm,

But the force that held him was firm.

The human approached him with an evil cackle,

With the sounds of the terrible shackles.

Quilava gave a loud scream. He looked around to find he was in the same place. He felt very bad-fear, but he was good-Uh, okay.

Mister William can explain what that was later, he thought as he went back into his bed and started sleep again. But the bad feeling of fear was still in him.
