3: Gallop

Previous Chapter

I stumbled back in my dismay. Canterlot was the last place I expected (and hoped) to be in. I'd never make it to the Everfree forest from here. Heck, I'd barley make it if I had wings.

"Hey, Daisy? You don't look too good."

I didn't feel too good either. I wish I could go back to my own body and inform Colgate of my dilemma. That wasn't possible, and neither was getting to the Everfree forest. Just when I was about to tell Lily the bad news, my eye caught sight of a stand selling paragliders.

A gift from Luna... I thought.

The sun lowered and gleamed on a shiny railing ahead of me, causing me to squint my eyes, allowing me to see trees from the Everfree forest, so far below Canterlot and even farther away.

A gift from Celestia I thought.

What I did after that was pretty obvious. Ignoring Lily, who was asking me questions on why I was buying a hang glider despite the fact that Daisy isn't much of a thrill seeker if the thrill is geared toward heights and such, I purchased a red-yellow-blue umbrella patterned paraglider. Without having time to hesitate due to the transaction taking longer than I'd anticipated, I galloped at full speed towards a cliff that pointed towards my destination.

"DAISY! WAIT!" I can heard Lily's frightened screams behind me. My little run left confused ponies in it's wake, but I tried not to notice them. I kept running towards the cliff's edge until there was no foothold left and I took a flying leap into the air, letting the glider catch the wind.

Surprisingly, as my hind legs kicked back, Lily had grabbed a hold of one, clutching it for dear life. She grit her teeth when she looked down so she fixated her gaze on me.

I squinted my eyes and tried to keep the glider steady, even though Lily's weight made us shift to the side a bit. I grinned wildly when the Everfree forest came in sight. For a second, I thought I heard Lily's voice, but the wind in my ears made it impossible to detect any other sound.

Finally, I could see the forest entrance after a 20 minute flight. The landing was pretty rough. I didn't know how fast I was descending until I had the ground as a reliable, yet painful point of reference. My face skid across the ground and Lily tumbled violently into a cart which exploded into thousands of Apples and splinters upon impact. Celestia knows where the glider had gone to, but I heard a branch snap, so I guess it's up in a tree.

I had no time to recover, then again, I realized how selfish that was considering I'm in Daisy's body. I staggered into the forest, looking for anything large and unusual that could be housing two ponies.

"Daisy..." I hear Lily moan as I venture deeper into the forest. I searched about everywhere. near the entrance, and released I must be near the exit. The forest was way too dark to go into, but I didn't have much of a choice. I dug my hooves into the ground and took off as fast as I can to avoid any of the mysterious creatures that lie ahead.

"Daisy...not again!!" I hear Lily whine in that cute voice of hers. I'd like to be able to hear it again, only with my own ears. If I don't make it in time, I'll die, and so will Minuette. I couldn't let that happen.

I ducked and weaved through the slew of bats and branches until I saw light peak through the canopy of the forest. Butterflies fluttered by as I watched the dim, yet warm light blanket a large sedimentary rock covered in vines. I heard heavy breathing inside.

"Daisy......."

"Lily! You have to help me open this rock!"

".....Are you okay? You've been-"

"No time! I...er Rose could die!"

"What?"

"Just help me!"

Lily hesitated a bit, but the, she picked up a large rock and heaved it at the one I instructed her to open with me. It cracked pretty good. A well placed kick and it my open.

"Hang on, Colgate..." I whisper to myself as I give the strongest kick I could muster, breaking the whole thing open.

I did It... I though. A tear rolled down my cheeks when the sound of laughter seemed to kill the moment.

Colgate was chuckling.

She giggled beside what seemed to be my unconscious body, my tongue lazily hanging out, writing the word 'gullible' on my head with a magic marker.

I woke up to see Colgate coughing up a storm.

"You failed, Rose....*cough* now we're dead."

I crossed my eyes, trying to see my forehead. Realizing the attempt was futile, I rubbed my hoof on it, seeing a black smudge come up on my hoof.

"What's going on, Colgate?" I asked, irritated.

"What do you me-"

"I though I just saved us!"

Colgate chuckled.

"Then that means, it's over."

This next part isn't funny at all. Colgate levitated the ceiling, which turned out to be a carpet, off the walls and climbed up, offering her hoof to me.

The sunlight hurt my eyes a great deal, but I kept staring up at Colgate.

"What is this?" I ask in a monotonous voice.

"Oh! I got you back for replacing my shampoo from mane dye."

I continued staring.

"You see, I found this hole by the Everfree forest and thought it was a cool hole. You were sleeping like a filly, so I grabbed you and put you in here. Then I realized, why stop there? I grabbed this bumpy rock-like rug and placed it over this hole. While you were asleep, I used a dream spell on you. Then you woke up, so I played along."

"....So....."

"Yeah, you weren't in another mare's body, that's too powerful a spell to be done more than once. I just put a knock-out spell on you and made you dream that you were, in fact, in another pony's body. "

"....and..."

"We were never in any danger."

Colgate offered her ugly hoof to me again. I took it and yanked as hard as I could, punching her as she came down. She lay unconscious on the floor. I climbed out of the trench and threw some paraísthisiflos into the hole. Paraísthisiflos...What beautiful flowers. The name comes from Greek-paraísthisi meaning hallucination and Latin- flos meaning flower. The scent of this flower gives wild hallucinations.

Colgate is gonna have a hard time trying to figure out what's going on. I'm going to the flower shop to tell Daisy and Lily of Colgate's foolish mistake.
