Garthriel's Unintentional Visit to Equestria
Chapter 1:The Descent.
On the third day of Summer in the year in 2017, a young man named Robertus Mardis was in the middle of a flight run.Tasked by Glacier Lakes Sciences to deliver some fragile materials to Glacier Lakes Sciences main lab in the Arctic. Near the southwestern edge of Iceland,when suddenly all of the starboard engines lost seventy-five percent thrust.Thinking quickly Robertus called over the radio"Mayday mayday,this is x-ray bravo oscar one one niner niner I have lost power to my starboard engines, I am going down."
With a jolt the craft hit an updraft, in a blare of flashing lights and warning gauges Robertus groaned.
Knowing what those warning lights meant,calling again " Mayday Mayday this is x-ray bravo oscar one one niner niner I have lost power to my starboard engines,and my craft's integrity has been compromised.Repeating his distress call Robertus guided his craft in the general direction of the nearest airport.
Picking up his call a young flight controller called in "Maintain course x-ray-bravo-oscar-one-one-niner-niner and bring your craft to runway Alpha-one."as the young lady finished two US military interceptors pulled along side Robertus' craft.
The nearest Pilot hailed Robertus "Unidentified craft maintain course."
Robertus hastily replied with"I am barely able to maintain the necessary speed to stay airborne."
Returning his attention to the proposed runway by air control he replied,That is a negative control,the integrity of this craft has been compromised, in addition to the cargo I have aboard...".
Cutting off in mid-sentence Robertus spotted a rundown section of the old runway system.Control this is x-ray-bravo-oscar-one-one-niner-niner I am setting my craft down on runway Zulu one.Please retain the Terminal to reduce casualties Robertus gauged the distance to runway Zulu one. Robertus Immediately banked into an approach path for the old runway, all the while compensating power from his port engines to maintain aerial motion.Just as he had finished the lineup portion of his approach the port engines sputtered, engine four burst into flames reacting he shut the fuel-line.In an attempt to ensure the cargo would sill be intact Robertus slowed the remaining engines just above the stalling point.
Practically gliding the craft in Robertus opened the landing gear.. hitting the runway with a shattering jolt the craft careened slightly.
Soon the runway would end in an effort to slow his speed Robertus cut the engines braking this was not enough the craft still moving at a 70 Kilometers an hour, would still go well beyond the edge of the runway.
Thinking effortlessly Robertus started to turn his craft slowly, as the craft made a full turn he engaged the engines to full thrust while simultaneously braking.Almost there he thought.Thinking quickly Robertus shot all engines to full using what motion he could obtain from the port engines to compensate for the slowly turning craft.Still moving in a rearward motion towards the forest, he then opened the air-brakes.
At last the craft came to a stop.Shutting off the engines, Robertus nearly passed out barely conscious he climbed out of his craft.
As Robertus climbed out he saw in the evening dusk the sirens of ambulances glaring as it rolled to a stop not a hundred yards away.Watching the paramedics climb out of their ambulance Robertus collapsed to his knees losing consciousness he landed on his face.
Robertus flowed in and out of consciousness seeing the fleeting flickers of the passing moments, as the paramedics struggled to maintain a conscious Robertus.
Robertus had the vaguest view of the paramedics efforts, hardly registering, saw the moments from the time they rushed to him, and the ride all the way to the hospital.
From what he could understand,the doctors were concerned for his well being, as there seemed to be a missing part of his identity and noticed many of the usual holidays pass in mere moments to him.Fading in and out of consciousness Robertus saw birthdays and holidays pass in mere moments after what seemed like an eternity,Robertus swore he saw ponies at one point...
During this cycle he noticed at one point that as he started to fade out of consciousness again, he swore the doctor looked like a pony from My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, his favorite show.Robertus brushed it off thinking "I must be imagining things..Maybe I finally went insane.
As more weeks had passed he started to lose less and less of the time as before, however this time all of the doctors he had seen were ponies.After what seemed like several months in this unknown Robertus attempted to move but could not.
One day a doctor by the name of Phisycciao gestured towards him and said to his nurse "Do we have the contact information for this filly's parents?"
To which the nurse replied "We have yet to identify this filly doctor."
Robertus' curiosity rose and he looked around, when he did so the Doctor looked over and said"Ah..so you're finally awake are we?"
Robertus replied as quietly as he could get away with "Seems that way."As he finished he noticed that his voice sounded much softer than usual.It looked as if the doctor was about to ask something else when a nurse opened the door and called the doctor away.
Something was nagging at the back of his mind...something was overtly different.Maybe I have finally gone insane after-all' he thought.Several more months passed uneventfully until Nightmare Night of that year.Some new ponies entered with a new nurse carrying a piece of paper..as they walked in he heard the nurse note"Why that looks like the filly in here!"
To which the pedestrian pony replied "Well that is what I was telling my wife here...it was her idea to bring this in."
Robertus caught a glimpse of a drawing that reminded him of his oc profile picture,then when he was shown the paper in direct view his heart nearly skipped a beat.. it was his oc all-the-way from design down to the name..
Robertus then asked the nurse to get him a mirror..upon seeing his reflection he screamed as loud as he manage, the image that stared back was that of his oc except there was something off.Taking note of his appearance:long hair in pretty hot pink with streaks of teal.
In an attempt to calm himself he muttered repeatedly "It is not possible,I must be dreaming:how is this possible?" Nearly jumping out of the bed in the process. A nurse went to call a doctor calling "We need some anaesthesia here!"
A doctor arrived and used anaesthesia upon him as he had become hysterical.In his dreams he kept attempting to explain this to himself; instead accomplishing nothing except a sense of paranoia.As another two months passed one of the doctors was in deep thought and mumbled out loud "Maybe Fluttershy could hep take care of this filly." When the doctor was finished as soon as he left Robertus grumbled out loud "So it seems that I am indeed in Ponyville after all."
Robertus soon fell asleep after contemplating the implications.Waking later in the afternoon he was greeted with a full face view of four new ponies.Soon remembering that he was now in fact the same as his oc.Jumping up and immediately upon inspection he notice Fluttershy and Rainbowdash; the other two ponies he did not recognize.Asking in a quiet tone of voice "Fluttershy, Rainbowdash what are you two doing here?"
The two looked surprised at the immediate deposition of their names from a completely new face.Replying for the two of them Rainbow said"We were asked to look after you,Garthriel is it ? That is a little weird that a filly has that kind of name.Oh..well."
Robertus had nearly forgotten this information. Muttering to himself he thought 'That's right I am Garthriel now, I can't believe that I had nearly forgotten this detail.Fluttershy then said "Well it is time to go.Come on."Garthriel resigned herself to go, thinking 'Maybe I can use this time to see if I am imagining things, insane or really Equestria. For the next few weeks it was nearly impossible for her to get used to her pony-self.
All-the-while she kept analyzing the situation; driving herself deeper into insanity.In an attempt to get away form it all, on the way to City Hall Garthriel sneaked away from Fluttershy...she immediately had gotten lost.Noticing a pony that she did not recognize she asked "Do you know the way to the train station?"
Why its just three blocks that way." he replied pointing in the direction to his left.Garthriel thanked him and rushed in the direction of the station.As she was waiting and contemplating the true possibility this happening and the initial gender change upon arrival.Hearing RainbowDash calling her name, freaking out Garthriel hid under the platform initially then hearing FlutterShy ask some of the ponies at the platform if they had seen her. Garthriel noticing the train about to leave jumped onto it.
Forgetting that she had wings Garthriel attempted to think of a situation in which she could use them.But to no avail.Unbeknownst to Garthriel the train was heading to Appleoosa.As the train was moving along RainbowDash saw that Garthriel upon the train in the distance,Chasing after the train at high speed so as to pluck the filly from the roof of the train.Upon seeing Rainbow starting to head in her direction dropped between the cars just a few moments before her car went into a tunnel.Climbing back up to the roof for a better vantage
she saw Rainbow still on her way narrowly missing Garthriel by a few seconds.Garthriel threw herself off the train to avoid Rainbow breaking her wing in the process.Screaming as loud as she could "LEAVE ME ALONE!". Garthriel ran off as quickly as possible.
Not noticing the direction she was headed Garthriel soon came upon a section of summits that loomed in the distance.Garthriel realized that she was hungry and extremely tired, given how much energy she had put into getting away from RainbowDash and FlutterShy.
Thinking back upon the events of the past four weeks, she thought of how much humiliation there was from every other pony staring at her.Frightened and scared she ran of crying more accurately sobbing and mentioning something about the third grade repeating.
Garthriel even had ran away into the the Everfree Forrest, had gotten lost broke out sobbing and starving .Snapping out of her gloomy reminisces of the past,attempted to go further on but could not. Passing out Garthriel glumly thought 'I will never get home at this rate.'. Waking the next day Garthriel was met with a sight that surprised her;she was in a camp of Buffalo.Ah the young pony wakes at last." a mysterious buffalo said.
Why were you out in these lands alone young one?" the mysterious buffalo then asked.Garthriel shrunk herself as much as possible saying meekly "I was avoiding some one,sir."Nodding his head understandingly he then introduced himself as Geronimo the chief this tribe. After Geronimo introduced himself Garthriel excused herself. Going outside she took note of her surroundings ;using her shadow to direct her gaze to the north there off in the distance was a large mountain, it looked familiar.In the east was a vast expanse of desert hardly broken by any cacti.Glancing to the west now Garthriel saw a peculiar event she thought she had seen RainbowDash.
Just then she heard behind her the unmistakable voice of RainbowDash inquire "Have you seen this pony?"
Glancing back Garthriel saw that Rainbow was holding a flyer with her picture and name upon it.To which the Chieftain replied "You have just missed her, just as well her wing seems to have been broken." At the mention of the condition of Garthriel's health Rainbow's expression shown that of even more concern than before.Garthriel had taken this time to sneak off trying to escape RainbowDash as soon as she could.
