Chapter 1
Load Full StoryMr. Rich was enjoying the pleasant day. As his hooves moved across the lush soil of Sweet Apple Acres the smell of fresh apple cider filled the air, something he always looked forward to when he visited. Now, if he could only get Diamond Tiara in a better mood when he took her along on these business trips with him. "Well howdy Filthy! Here for another bushel of apples?"
Diamond Tiara was upset. Not for any specific reason, but being dragged along to this muddy work farm always put her in a bad mood. She didn't want to be here! Why did she have to come every time they needed apples or jam or some other dumb thing? Maybe teasing Applebloom would cheer her up, she thought with a snarky grin, wandering off towards the apple orchard as her dad chatted with Granny Smith.
"Where aaare you, Blank Flank?" She could SWEAR she heard somepony around here, Applebloom was undoubtedly nearby. "I know you're around here somewhAUGH!" and just like that, she felt a hoof come out of nowhere and buck her in the side of the head. Oh Celestia, that smarted. "Ho darn, you okay there lil' filly?" Some orange pony was hovering over her in a ridiculous looking hat. "I'm real sorry 'bout that! You gotta watch yourself out here, it's apple buckin' season after all. Do y'all need any help gettin' back up?" The nerve of this pony! Not only did she just buck Diamond Tiara in the face, but she had the nerve to try and downplay it?! "No, get away from me!" She lept to her hooves, flustered and racing off from the farm pony without noticing the throbbing pain in the back of her head.
Finally, she found the little Blank Flank! Applebloom was still in that ridiculous bunny outfit, hopping around underneath trees with the loud hum of Zap Apples in them. "THERE you are! Still dressed in that ridiculous outfit, I see!" Applebloom stopped, just now taking notice of the bruised pink filly heading her way. "Huh? Oh, Diamond Tiara! What are yo-" "But hey, at least it covers your blank flank. That makes you look a LITTLE less pathetic since it hides your lack of a cu-" SMASH. She.. never expected Applebloom could hit so hard. "I'm tired of your crap Diamond Tiara! Just because you've got some fancy schmancy cutie mark doesn't make you better than me!" The golden colored filly sauntered off, huffing under her breath.
It took her a while to catch her breath, Applebloom had slammed a hoof right into her gut. She'd tell Silverspoon about it, they would get her back for that! The nerve, and while she was in the middle of talking! She just needed to lay down for a bit, that had really hu- wait, what was that sound? Clack clack clack. She could hear it getting louder, her eyes drifting shut as she let her mind drift. Clack clack clack. It was almost soothi- CRACK. She felt a heavy pair of hooves over her back, practically burying her into the ground underneath her as a large crimson stallion walked over her, suddenly being flattened by a rolling apple cart shortly afterwards. She tried to let out a muffled yelp, but her face way too pressed into the dirt to yell out anything as Big Macintosh trampled over her, not even noticing the filly underneath him as he headed off to do his chores.
Filthy Rich walked back towards the entrance of Sweet Apple Acres, saddlebags filled with jars of Zap Apple Jam as he looked around for his daughter. "Now where could she have gotten off to?," he'd wondered aloud to himself, before noticing the sod covered filly limping over towards him. "Why, Diamond Tiara! You shouldn't wander off you know, that work orchard can be pretty dangerous if you're not careful." The stallion chuckled to himself, it looked like she had a lot of fun out there though. He remembered being a colt, coming home covered in dirt and grass after a day of playing outside. "Uh huh.." muttered the filly, trotting off towards the entrance with her dad. "Let's just go home."
