The Return of Sunset Shimmer

Author's Note:

I've finally decided to free my talent by writing a My Little Pony fanfic series which talks about the adventures of Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends. This first chapter's first part is mainly a flashback of Sunset Shimmer's past and how she turned evil.

Chapter 1: How it all started

Years Ago...

It was sleeting that day in the Everfree Forest as a unicorn mare with sea green eyes, a red and yellow mane, and a light orange coat with a shimmering sun as her cutie mark made her way through the forest. Her mission was to stop a villain who planned on bringing back Nightmare Moon from her 1,000 year banishment inside of the moon. She tried to use a powerful spell on the villain to eliminate him once and for all until...her teacher, Princess Celestia, stepped in and caused the villain to retreat.  From there, she told the words that unicorn would never, ever forget even after her redemption...

"You don't know ANYTHING about friendship, Sunset. You have failed as my apprentice. You were supposed to fight with friends, not alone!"

That's what started her spiral into villainy, she would've been stuck there if it weren't for Twilight Sparkle and her friends years later...but what became of that villain she tried to stop?

Present Day

In Canterlot, a figure was hiding in the castle garden as she took in her surroundings to try to hide from the Royal Guards before dashing across the statue garden where Discord's statue once stood. She had to find her six friends, now all she had to do was get out of this city and...

"HALT! Who goes there?!" A Royal Guard demanded as he looked around the area.

The cloaked figure saw the guard and yelped, running off in the opposite direction towards a statue and teleported past it.

"Don't move!" The guard commanded.

The figure ignored that guard and kept running as fast as her hooves could carry her, arriving at the train station. She urgently boarded the train and paced urgently around the train. If only the train gets her there quickly...

Meanwhile...

In Ponyville, at the Friendship Rainbow Castle, the Friendship Council was having a meeting while discussing important manners. It's been a week since the yaks from Yakyakistan came for their visit.

"Ok, girls, does anyone have any ideas on what we should do now or who's coming soon?" Twilight asked.

"I have some ideas, Twilight." Rarity answered.

"Yes, Rarity. Go on."

"I assume soon we will be getting visits from Canterbury or Neighpan in the future?" Rarity questioned.

"Not sure, Rarity." Twilight replied with a shrug.

"I reckon we might be gettin' visits from Roam or Prance in the future." Applejack commented.

"I've got a question too: Will Griffinstone be visiting? I would like to see Gilda and Greta again." Rainbow asked.

Suddenly, Spike burped out a message from Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.

"A message from the Princesses already? Do we have other delegates coming over or a monster attack?" Fluttershy questioned, watching Twilight levitate the message to her and reading it to herself.

"They need us in Canterlot. I don't know why, but something happened." Twilight told them urgently.

They all got up and ran to the train station while the purple alicorn had the thought of her friend in her head.

"Sunset, I wish you were here..." She muttered nervously.
