Broken, Like Glass

                        Princess Luna collapsed onto her bed.  That night's court had been long, and extremely boring!  All the ponies who came were either trying to start a conversation, or complaining that the moon or stars weren't bright enough for something.  If she had known that the court would have been that bad, she wouldn't have held it.

                          Luna groaned. But she needed to hold court.  If she didn't, Sister would think she was neglecting her duties.  Or Tia would think Luna wasn't strong enough yet to raise the moon on her own.  Oh, Luna did not need that kind of embarrassment again!  Not after 1,000 years alone on the moon.

                         The Princess rolled onto her side.  The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, illuminating Canterlot and the valleys beyond.  As she admired the landscape, Princess Luna began to think.  And when Luna thought, it wasn't always good.  'If I was the elder sister, I would be able the one to get all the praise and adoration!  If I was the elder sister, Celestia would understand how I felt all those years! If I was the elder sister, Celestia would be on the sun right now!' Luna thought bitterly.

                         Luna rose of the bed in a flash.  "That is it!" Luna exclaimed.  All Luna needed to do was cast a simple spell that, fortunately, she already knew!  An age spell was all Luna needed.  Once it was cast, Sister would know exactly how Luna felt 1,000 years ago!  But that was not all, if Tia was the younger one, Luna would be able to send her to the sun!

                         But then again, if Luna did perform that age spell.... Sister would suffer.  And Luna didn't want her dear sister to suffer for something so petty.  So, Luna decided to hold all her feelings in, and not perform that silly old spell.

~~~~~~ 1 year later ~~~~~~
                         The year had come and gone, and Luna was beginning to struggle with holding in her hatred, jealousy, and sadness.  If Luna had held the feelings in for a whole year, she could keep going!   'But I'm not sure if I could hold on any longer,' Luna thought.
                         As soon as the Princess thought that, something snapped.  Luna began to laugh, and laugh, and laugh for no reason at all.  But that was only the beginning.  Luna turned to face the glass doors that led to her balcony.  She smiled a creepy smile and charged at the door, horn at the same level as the door. .  CRASH! Rang through the Princess's room as the glass doors shattered.
                       And in spite of all the pain flashing through the Princess's head, she laughed.  Laughed more than she had ever laughed before.  But this wasn't a normal laugh.  This was an insane laugh.
                      In the subconscious part of Luna's mind, she realized she was broken.  Broken, like the glass doors in front of her.  Broken, like a tree branch.  Broken, meaning she was insane!
------- 1 week later ------
                  Princess Celestia climbed the stairs leading to the West Hall of Canterlot Castle.  Of course, Luna did her duties every night, but Celestia very rarely had the chance to talk to her younger sister.  Celestia was awoken from her thoughts when a pegasus maid came running down the stairs.
                "Princess Celestia!  Princess Twilight needs you immediately!" The pegasus, Serenity, said rushing.  Celestia nodded.  Twilight most obviously needed some more help with learning to be a Princess.
              "Serenity, please tell Princess Twilight that I will be there to meet her soon," Celestia told Serenity. Serenity nodded and ran back up the stairs to the library.
