It was a warm morning as Pinkie got a note from a bird delivered straight from Fluttershy. Laying out a cake full of worms she begged for Discord to appear to help. When he appeared she beamed a smile.
"Oh my gosh OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH! A pony needs a party and I have NO TIME TO PLAN IT!"
"Yes and what, pray the tell, does that have to do with me?"
"Discord, you're, like, almost as fun as me!" Pinkie exclaimed. Discord frowned slightly and shrank to the size on a small critter and hovered to her muzzle leaning on it.
"So, you think you're more FUN than I?" He turned into a floating eyeball and hovered several hoof lengths away.
"The god of chaos?" He turned into a creature similar to an octopus with hammers in each tentacle.
"The master of maelstroms?" He took out a small umbrella and snowflakes showered upon his tiny body
"The butt of all jokes?"
"You know I think I get it," she said before he could transform, "but my parties are the bestest, biggerest, most funneriest parties in all of Equestria," she screamed as she bounced rapidly in place. Discord sneered for a moment before disappearing and poking out from Pinkies ear.
"Well, that explains the echo I've been feeling reverberate across the room with every word you said." Discord slid from her ear and onto the floor bouncing and turning into a butterfly. "However, this still doesn't explain why you need me." He reformed into his true self and fell back into the air. As he levitated he began filing his claws on his tooth waiting for an answer.
Pinkie reached her head around his shoulder and sniffled. "What the buck?!" He shouted jumping to the floor, his wings fluttering and his bear paw clasping his chest. "How'd you do that? You can't teleport, you're an earth pony," he said mockingly.
"Teleport?" she asked sitting in the air he was a moment ago, "I'm sorry I scared yo- Oooo, this couch is SO comfortable," she said falling to the side.
"What? How're you doing that?! That's my trick and you're just a pony," he pouted and fell to his bottom holding his face in his claws.
"Aww, I'll throw you a party too if you want, Discordie wordie shmordie! We'll call it-"
"Oh enough Pinkie Pie, you want my assistance you have it."
Pinkie fell to the floor and bounced to the ceiling several times like a rubber ball with endless energy. She finally stopped perfectly on all four hooves inches from Discords pouting face. "C'mon, don't be mopey just cuz you aren't the only one who can do silly things. Let's set this room up for the best party EVER!"
Discord closed his eyes tightly and groaned moving his fingers to his temples before quickly moving his paw up and snapping his fingers. A blinding light filled the room as he scoffed. "There, can I go now?"
Pinkie gasped and giggled nervously. "I love it, except I don't think the Cakes will be too happy to see their living room turned into a cloud of green... what's this exactly?"
"Oh it's slime! Fresh from the slugs of Klandu caves," he said sadly.
Pinkie bounced between her hooves before climbing on Discord, she stuck out her tongue in restrained disgust. "How about something a little less sluggish."
"But Pinkamena, you wanted fun and what says fun like the colors green and slugs? I find this to be a perfect setting for a cheer-me-up party."
"Uhm, maybe we can try something else? Just to have more... options?"
"Oh fine," he gruffed snapping his paw again.
Her teeth chattered as she fell to her haunches and wrapped up in a warm coat, scarf, hat; then she pulled a small campfire from behind her and placed it on the floor. Holding her hooves over it she smiled at Discord who regarded her abilities.
"Discord, I love this but we're going to have a lotta ponies here and if they can't feel their noses how are they going to eat their food?"
"What does their noses," his grew legs and ran down his face, chest, abdomen then by the fire. Sprouting a pair of arms it reached toward the fire to warm up. "Have anything to do with eating?" He said nasally.
"Well you can't taste if you can't smell," she said appearing behind him and reaching a cupcake into his mouth without his expecting it. He coughed but swallowed it.
"Well played," he replied picking up his nose and placing it on his muzzle again. "Let's try the next one." *flash*
"Alligator theme?"
"No." *flash*
"Bathtub time?" He squeaked a rubber ducky while Pinkie popped up from a pile of bubbles with a full white beard.
"No." *flash*
"Star Trek Enterprise NCC-1701-D bridge?"
"Nope, no pony follows that show anyway," she replied pouting slightly.
"I know, isn't that just unfortunate? They have an actor who is just the best representation of me."
"NEXT!" *flash*
"Movie set?"
"No, maybe something we're more used to?" *flash*
"The royal throne room?"
"Wha-? Discord?! What's the meaning of thi-" *flash*
"I guess Celestia isn't in the mood to join your party Pinkie," he said as they both grinned. He laid back in the air and Pinkie crawled onto his chest and molded him like a baker kneading dough until his chest was a soft little bed just her size.
"Yeah, she loves pranks but doesn't really like surprises."
"Well, I could tell you a few stories... But another time, perhaps." *flash*
"Oh my! This' amazing. Keep it," Pinkie said as she snuggled into Discord. "This' the perfect theme for him."
"So, who is this lucky pony?"
"Pony? PONIES! We have to get them here to start the party before I have to get to my other one!"
"Not to worry dear Pinkie Pie," he replied. A snap of his fingers brought dozens ponies from across Equestria into and around Sugarcube Corner. The rest of the mane six were by Pinkies side in the center of the room. The lights were low and they could barely make out what was going on, save for the Cheshire grin of Discord.
"Miss Pie, it's been a pleasure, my I take my leave?"
"But, why would you want to leave your own party?!" Pinkie said bouncing in place as every other pony tried to figure out where they were and how they got there. Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Twilight glared at the god of chaos as Pinkie jumped between them.
"Before anypony gets mad let me explain," she took a massive breath in, preparing to tell a looong story.
"I sent her a letter saying Discord was down, but I never expected this," Fluttershy said looking at her friends who had turned their looks to confusion aimed at her. "Sorry," she said.
"Well, if it's something to make a friend happy I ain't gonna knock it. Just so long as I get home in one piece and nothing crazy happens."
The others nodded in agreement as Discord smiled widely. The light brightened and everypony gasped.
The walls were waves of black, blue, and purple. The ceiling was an endless array of stars swirling in a galaxy far far away and in the air hovered candy bars with 'Milky Way' written on them. Cotton candy clouds rained multicolored candies. A banner on each cloud read 'Taste the Rainbow'.
Small candies were sliding across the floor. "Watch the Butterfingers or you'll take a tumble," Pinkie joked.
"You know Pinkie, I do feel better. Thanks for this party, I'll never forget it."
He sat up and Pinkie slid off him giggling as his lower body turned into a slide. Scampering to the middle of the room he began to dance in the silence as Ponies looked around in awe. Pinkie turned on a music box and everypony snapped back to reality and began talking about the amazing party and the new second best party planner: Discord.
