Chapter 2 Ponytopia, The Pony Paradise

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Ponytopia. It was a new town built on the other side of Canterlot opposite to Ponyville. Ponies from all over were moving there with the promise to be able to start up new businesses and a new way of life. The pony creators of the town were attempting to create a perfect pony society. This was the lure to get ponies to move to the neo town along with the chance to be a part of something new. Built on wonderful landscape with a breathtaking view, not all ponies who moved there, however, were interested in making life better for everypony. But many ponies were making new friends. Things were going smoothly well in the new town. Rainbow Heart and Night Wing moved to the town called Ponytopia. Some of the new residents to the town were Rainbow Heart and his significant other, Night Wing, Night Wish, a good friend of Rainbow Heart and having completed her assignment near Ponyville moved there as well, Victor The Pony who was also a good friend of Rainbow Heart’s, Timber Fall, and Fruit Fields, his lover.

Rainbow Heart was a black unicorn with white snout and hoofs with rainbow colored mane and tail. His cutie mark was a rainbow colored heart and he had orange eyes. The cutie mark on his right side was cut off by himself in the past. There was a thin layer of fur over the area, but it was mostly scar tissue, which prevented it from growing full hair in the area, also the cutie mark was gone as a result of the excision. Rainbow Heart has the Element of Tragedy, based on sadness and depression, because of the loss of his former lover who was a good pony in life, but in death turned to evil. Night Wing was a pegasus. He had a black body. He had blue mane, tail, and eyes. His cutie mark was a dark cloud with a white outline around the cloud. Inside the cloud was a blue feather. Night Wing was Rainbow Heart’s new mate, the new love blossoming well, but Night Wing also acted like his sidekick. Night Wish was an apprentice of the Night Princess. Night Wish was a black and blue pegasus. Her body was black, her mane and tail were black and blue, she had blue tribal tattoo-like accents on her forehead, cheeks, neck, and on her legs. Her cutie mark was a blue shooting star with the tail steak shaped like a crescent moon and lighter blue in color. She had blue eyes. Victor Pony was a pony who had been friends with Rainbow Heart since kindergarten. Victor Pony was a black unicorn with white underbelly and blue eyes. His cutie mark was a ghost. Victor basically looked like a Siberian Husky. Victor and Rainbow Heart were friends since they were foals. Rainbow Heart had given him a job as a security officer at his spa in Bucktown when it existed. Timber Fall was a male earth pony. His body was red with black mane and tail. He also had a black beard and facial hair. His eyes were blue. His cutie mark was an axe chopping down a tree. He was masculine, but not very smart. He was also tall for a pony. He was a lumberjack. He was known for once chopping down four trees with a single swing of an axe, however, that is debated. Fruit Fields was a female earth pony. Her body was brown with green mane and tail. Her eyes were blue. Her cutie mark was a cornucopia with an assortment of fruit. She was the dainty trophy wife of Timber Fall with an argumentive personality. She grew fruits for a living.

I, Rainbow Heart, came home from work dressed as a spa pony, wearing a white spa headband around my forehead with my horn protruding through a hole in the center of it to keep my mane in place and to collect sweat, in addition to wearing a white neckband with an orange dot in the center of it also to collect sweat and look professional. Night Wing was not home yet. It was not uncommon for him. He was always late.

I went and showered to get the filth of the day off and tossed my spa attire into the laundry basket. I sat on the couch and used my vaporizer having the nicotine relax my mind. Rainbow Heart vapes, uses a vaporizer. I used magic to pour a glass of Ponnay and took a sip from the glass. He used to smoke Roadkill cigarettes and drink Ponisky (Whisky), but now drinks Ponnay (Chardonnay) wine and used a vaporizer to get his nicotine fix.

I couldn’t wait for Night Wing to get home. His work took him to different places everyday, so he could be back at anytime really. The room had relics from my past. The rug that I had given my former mate, Double Rainbow, for a gift was hung on the wall on display. The special rug had a yin and yang symbol in the center of it with other magical ornamental designs on it, a gift I had given Double Rainbow my former significant other. It was bloody with tears and a few holes due it its past uses. I still had Double Rainbow’s Knife. Double Rainbow’s knife was highly ornamental and also came with a yin and yang symbol on it. It had a sheath as well which was attached to my fabulous rainbow saddle resting on a saddle rack. On a saddle display stand next to my rainbow saddle was Double Rainbow’s decorative saddle complete with a yin and yang symbol and other ornamental details. The only other item on display of my former true love was his Book of Shadows entitled, “Rainbow Storm.” My rainbow color lined cloak was hanging on a clothes stand. I waited and waited for my love to come home. It was in the evening hours now and I was tired from a long day at the spa. My eyes began to close by themselves.

A stallion pony was home in his bedroom alone, or so he thought. The stallion went into his trunk along the wall and pulled out a dirty magazine. The stallion returned to bed laying on it on his back. He squirted some lube on his front hooves. The stallion began slowly pleasuring himself, masturbating to the naughty magazine that contained nude mares, his favorite type.

Unknowingly, a mare zombie pony came out from hiding under the bed. The mare zombie slowly crawled and crept up the bed being hidden by the magazine he was holding on his chest with one front hoof while stroking himself with the other. The stallion began stroking faster and panting. Once he climaxed with a moan of pleasure, the mare zombie bit off his genitals. The stallion screamed, tossing the magazine into the air, seeing a zombie on his bed. The rest of the attack was fast and merciless. The stallion was eaten alive.

I awoke suddenly to a noise from the kitchen, my head jerking behind me.

I got off the couch and headed that way saying, “Night Wing, you saucy thing. Are you making us dinner, darling?”

The noise stopped. I entered the kitchen to find no one there. The back door was open and the insects singing their joyous noises filled the room.

“Night Wing? You there?” I asked closing the back door. “You shouldn’t leave the door open you know, bugs could get in.”

There was silence.

“Night Wing? If you’re trying to scare me it’s not gonna work.” I stated. “Come on, quit playing around.” I barked entering the den where I had taken the cat nap.

Before me, almost face-to-face, was a sight I had not seen in a long time.

“Zombie pony!” I said started.

It was looking back at me. It charged at me. I fired my anti zombie spell, expecting it to fall to the ground defeated, but it just kept coming at me. The spell didn’t work. It rammed me and knocked me to the ground. Getting on top of me, it tried to bite me. Its stench was overpowering. I used my hind legs to kick it in the stomach and used my front hooves to grab the zombie pony and flip it over my head. The zombie rolled a few times. I got up and it recovered quickly. I grabbed the rug from the wall and put it over the zombies’ head covering it to blind it temporarily by using magic. I charged at the zombie ramming it with my horn piercing its body and I fired a magical blast directly into its body. The zombie flew backwards striking the wall hard. I knew that the attack wouldn’t kill it, but with my anti zombie spell being ineffective against it I needed a new strategy. I pulled Double Rainbow’s Knife from its sheath using magic. Once the zombie was free of the rug I used the large knife to cut off the zombie’s head, disabling it. Its blood squirted across the room. I sheathed the knife. The zombie was dead. I could hear screams of terror from the outside. I needed to find out what was going on. I certainly could not stay here.

I used magic to levitate the rainbow saddle of mine over my back and manually secured the belt around my body. I charged out the door. To my amazement ghost and zombie ponies were everywhere. Ponies were being attacked in the streets, other ghosts and zombies were entering buildings and massacring the ponies within, only a few ponies escaping through windows, the back door, or daringly through the front door. Many ponies were saving and help of each other, other’s cowardly fled or tramped other ponies to save their own lives.

“What in the world is going on?” I asked myself. “This is impossible.”

I witness a mare getting beaten by a zombie pony. She fell to the abuse. The mare had her bosoms bitten off and eaten before the male zombie ate her. There were more violent and gruesome scenes I witnessed.

I noticed that the zombie hordes were working together with the ghost packs who were funnelling the frightened ponies towards the zombie ponies. The ponies were getting cornered and devoured. Most of the ghosts couldn’t strike ponies, but some who had a lot of energy were able to hit the ponies of the living.

I shook my head to snap out of the disbelief and focused. I had to save as many ponies as I could and find out what was causing this. I looked to my left and saw it. I only saw a glimpse of it. It was the hindquarters of a pony with a flank that had two arc rainbows, one over the other. I could have sworn it was Double Rainbow’s ghost. I charged forward following the apparition.

Double Rainbow was a white unicorn with rainbow mane and tail. He had blue eyes and a rainbow horn. His cutie mark was two semi-circular rainbows on his flank, one on top of the other divided by a small space.

I shouted, “Double Rainbow! Wait!”

I rounded the corner of the street going full speed. I saw the apparition on the other side of the block heading down an alley. I bolted forward in hot pursuit.

The ghost led me to two ponies who needed my help.

It was a stallion named Timber Fall and his mare Fruit Fields. Timber Fall was using an axe to chop the zombies down, while his wife Fruit Fields was using a cane with a pony head on the end of it to whack them. I used magic to unholster Double Rainbow’s Knife and attacked. With a whip of my head in a direction the knife followed my intent slashing and severing zombies. Once the hoard was defeated, I asked if they were alright.

Fruit Fields stated, “Ghost ponies scared us down this alley and we were cut off by zombie ponies!”

“That appears to be the tactic they are using.” I stated.

“What is going on?” Timber Fall asked.

I replied, “I don’t know. But we need to stick together, help all the ponies we can, and get out of the town.”

“Sounds good to me.” Timber Fall stated puffing out his chest manly.

“Did you see where the ghost that came down this alley went?” I asked.

“We didn’t see any ghosts come down the alley.” Fruit Fields stated.

I looked down at the end of the alley and saw the ghost of Double Rainbow, or who I suspected to be Double Rainbow, pass though an unopened door at its end.

“Follow me.” I exclaimed, trotting down the alley.

I came to the door and discovered it was locked. I tried to kick it in with my back hooves, bucking repeatedly.

“Allow me.” Timber Fall said and he kicked it in with one front hoof.

“Thanks.” I said. “Let’s move!”

We entered what was the back of a weapon store. We went though it with ease and no zombies. In the front were display cases of weapons and other weapons mounted on the wall for display.

“If you need to change your weapon, now is the moment and here is the place to do it.” I said.

They all seemed happy with their weapons of choice. We heard a scuffle going on upstairs. We went to investigate. Upstairs was Victor Pony using a sword to slice zombies to pieces. We aided his attack using our weapons.

Once they were defeated, Victor said, “Rainbow Heart! How are you doing?”

“Fine, all things considering.” I answered. “What are you doing here?”

Victor informed, “I am the night watchman here. I am back in the security guard business.” After a moment of silence Victor asked, “Any idea why ghosts and zombies are running amuck?”

“I don’t know. None of us do. But we must help the ponies get out of the town before they’re all killed.” I stated.

“Let’s do it.” Victor Pony exclaimed.

We left the upstairs going back downstairs and onto the street, which was looking more like an untamed riot scene.

“Rainbow Heart!” a voice came from above.

It was Night Wish. She swooped down floating in front of me her wings idling like an engine.

“Did you do this?” Night Wish barked.

“No. I had nothing to do with it. I don’t know what’s going on. But we have to help the others and get out of here before it’s too late.” I answered.

“Yes, we must hurry.” Night Wish said.

A zombie pony approached and Night Wish sliced its head off with a machete. I saw Double Rainbow’s ghost again at the end of the street, rounding a corner.

“This way!” I shouted.

We came to the corner and a pack of ghosts tried to spook us. I tried to run though one of the ghost but was punched by a front hoof and knocked back. We scattered into individuals and went around the ghosts regrouping on the other side of them.

I followed the ghost, never getting a clear look to confirm it was Double Rainbow. We went area to area finding more ponies to save and join us. We rounded up all the remaining ponies we could and were trying to get them to safety. The mayor of Ponytopia was also saved. The mayor Double Talk was a yellow earth pony with gray mane and tail and blue eyes. Her cutie mark was two faces speaking to each other.

We were now on the edge of town, which was all downhill. The perimeter of the town was surrounded by zombies.

“We’re surrounded!” Double Talk exclaimed.

I knocked the brace securing a horse drawn carriage, freeing it to gravity. With a gentle push, the carriage rolled downhill, clearing a path through the zombies by running over them as it went down the street hill. We followed it running faster downhill. I stumbled, with painful rolls I got separated from the group. Zombies and ghosts surrounded me. Others from the group tried to get to me, but the ocean of zombies and ghosts were too thick.

I tried my anti zombie spell one last time but with no effect. The spell just wasn’t working for some reason. I used Double Rainbow’s Knife to slice, cut, and sever, jerking my head to make the knife go in the direction I wanted it to violently flow, but there were just too many.

I stated, “These zombie ponies just won’t die….again.”

I was surrounded. There was nothing I could do. Night Wing swooped down and saved me from the encirclement of zombie and ghost ponies by grabbing me around my abdomen and airlifting me away.

“There you are? Where have you been?” I asked.

Night Wing replied, “When you get my age, you’ll understand, being late saves your life.”

I stated, “I’m 12 years older than you.”

Night Wing said, “Touche”

I exclaimed, “We need to help the other ponies.”

Night Wing inquired, “What is going on?”

I admitted, “I don’t know. But they need our help! And fast!”

Night Wing said, “Say no more.”

Night Wing dropped me off with the group, their forward progress having been stalled by a wall of zombies. Night Wing flew over and grabbed a nearby chainsaw starting it up. Night Wing dive bombed the wall of zombies, flying through them spiraling like a drill bit spearing a path through the rest of the zombies to the edge of the forest. The group rushed to safety. Night Wing continued to use the chainsaw to butcher zombies. Once all the ponies were in the Everfree Forest, our pace slowed down. After a while, the group stopped to take a small break.

My right flank was scarred over with only a little fur growing on it being thinly haired and the cutie mark was missing.

One of the members of the group saw my right flank and exclaimed, “He’s been bitten! He’s gonna turn into a zombie pony!”

I was quickly surrounded by the ponies I saved. The others grabbed their weapons and moved to attack me.

I informed, “Zombification does not occur from being bitten by a zombie pony. It’s the result of dark magic allowing a spirit of the deceased pony to reanimate its body. If a spirit doesn’t have a usable body to animate anymore it becomes a ghost. And for the record, that is not a zombie bite.”

Another pony asked, “How do you know this?”

Night Wish intervened, “He’s had some previous experience on the subject. But the previous zombies and spirits didn’t attack ponies.”

I exclaimed, “There must be something else to this. We have to find out what it is.”

Night Wish asked, “What about your anti zombie spell?”

I disgracefully admitted, “It didn’t work. Ever since Rainbow Moon was defeated, I’ve lost all ties to Double Rainbow’s ultimate magic power. My magic is no better than any other unicorn’s. I don’t know if it’s because of my lack of magical power or if the spell cast is different than the one used at the Stones of Tears. I’m sorry to say, I think only an Alicorn will be able to counter this spell. I mean, I can barely summon two tentacles these days.”

I used my magic and two orange tentacles appeared out of the ground.

“And they are easily beaten since I can’t empower them with strong magical energy,” I said smacking them and they cowered back into the holes they came from.

“What about the Element of Tragedy?” Night Wish asked.

“The Element of Tragedy, one of the Elements of Disharmony, is useless without the other five. Unless the other three get here to help me, the element is useless. Besides, there are still two Elements of Disharmony that don’t have bearers. It’ll be ineffective. Don’t worry about my element. It’s hidden in my house, so they won’t be able to find it, but….” I sighed, “All we can do is hope the alicorns send help soon.”

Night Wish asked, “How do we stop them?”

I informed, “Cremation seems to work pretty good.”

Night Wish stated, “That’s good and all, but it’s not like we can carry a cremator around with us.”

I said, “Good point. Well, then... We will have to find the pony or ponies that did this and get them to reverse the resurrection spell or copy their anti-resurrection spell and use it. Bottom line, we can’t kill them, so we will have to disable them, all four limbs and head too if possible. That’s the best I can come up with.”

Victor interjected, “We need to find safety somewhere and regroup with the other surviving ponies.”

I looked at Night Wish and stated, “I know a place.”
