My name is Wings, my name is a little ironic due to the fact that I am a one winged pegasus. Ever since I could remember I caused nothing but trouble for my family. It is no secret that I can never fly, sure I can walk on clouds but that isn’t any help. Specially when a large gust of wind can knock me off my cloud perch and send me plummeting to the ground to my death. Yeah no biggie right? It was after the second time I fell from the sky that my parents decided to send me to Canterlot to live with my grandmother. At least for a few years anyway, that’s the plan at least.
Staying here in Cantorlot the last few months has been really hard. Especially, if you happen to be a cripple. Every pony I have met just stares at me like I am a dragon or something! It hurts the most when other ponies avoid to making eye contact with me! I mean come on I’m not going to bite! Well I usually don’t but that’s not the point. I just want to be treated like a normal pony not like a freak! Which was a lot to ask apparently, Canterlot it is filled to the brim with stuck up snobs. The only pony that would give the time of day was my grandmother which isn’t saying much. I do love my grandmother but she is always shoving my flank into some stuffy dress.
When she isn’t trying to shove me into a horrid pink tent she calls a dress. She is trying to brainwash me into acting like a proper lady. Which is quite taxing on the both of us. I disappoint her and I feel like slamming my head against the wall. If you haven’t guessed by now I am a girl by the way, I don’t know why I have to tell you. You are just a diary after all…No! You’re a journal I’m just so sick of all of this girly crap! I get enough of that from my grandmother. I need a place to vent all of my frustration at least that’s what my counselor said. Ugh I don’t even get me started on all of the fillies and colts at school.
You would think they would get bored calling me names like “Gimpy” “Earth Pony” “Mutant” “Blank Flank” “Yellow Smash” I mean come on! I fell on my face one time and I am forever deemed yellow smash! But the worst nickname of all. The name I hate with a passion!…… “Half Baked”
Out of all the terrible things my classmates call me that is the most hurtful. And boy do they know it! At least they rarely call me that unless, they are just trying to hurt me. In my class there is a filly named….You know what! She doesn’t deserve to have her name written in my diary….Ugh JOURNAL! Hmmm what should I call her? I think I will just call her Ruby for now. At least until I think of something better! This specific filly if I can even call her that. Ruby’s cutie mark is a blood red ruby, which is fitting is you ask me. Ruby is an earth pony with a light pink coat, her mane and tail are both baby blue. She does have a few white highlights in her mane. Ruby's eyes are dark green evil pools, they seem to sparkle when ever she bullies me. Ruby does have a lackey named Pearl, she is also an earth pony. Pearl has a white coat, a blond mane that is often styled in a long braid. She has light violet eyes of hatred, Pearl has a cutie mark made up of three mother of pearls. Pearl is always the one egging on Ruby. Now that I think about it they are the only earth ponies in our class….except for Octavia I almost forgot about her. Octavia is always sitting alone writing sheets of music. I don’t think I have ever seen her without a pencil and paper. She is an odd little grey filly, I don't think I have ever heard her say a single word.
Most of my classmates are unicorns. It’s not unusual since most ponies in Canterlot are unicorns. I’m the only pegasus in the whole school, even if there were other pegasi around I couldn’t fly with them anyway. Well buck flying! I love being in the ground! I don’t have to worry about plummeting to the ground every five minutes! I’m not a fan of high places, main the reason is the fear of falling. The other reason is the fear my parents installed in me. Which is understandable they don’t want me to go over the edge of Cloudsdale....again! I really miss them! I know they both have important jobs being in charge of the weather and all. They can’t even take time off, last time they took a day off there was a terrible drought!
Ugh! Why can’t other ponies figure out how to deal with that kind of thing on their own? Why do they need to steal my mom and dad away from me! Ok, Wings relax, you can’t be a selfish little filly. Deep breath…Oh! Something amazing happened the other day! I got a brand new skateboard! I was just walking home from school when I saw two of my classmates talking to each other. One of them was complaining about how they asked for a green skateboard but wound up with a blue one instead. They were so upset that they threw it in the trash along with a red helmet to boot!
I swear all of these rich kids drive me crazy! I waited for my classmates to leave before, I pulled out the skateboard from the trash. If they knew I wanted it they probably keep it just so I couldn’t have it. Typical Canterlot behavior, once they were out of sight. I darted straight for the trashcan I pulled out the board and the helmet. I ran away as fast I could, when I was a ways away I marveled at the cool blue color of the board. It matched the lighter shade of blue in my mane perfectly. My mouth dropped open when I realized that this was a Canter board! It is the best of the best, top of the line! Boards don’t get better than this one I was holding in my hooves!
Thank you sweet Celestia! I always wanted a skateboard of my own but my grandmother said that they were rolling death traps not fit for a young filly like myself. Sorry Grandmother but this girl has to skate! After I spent an hour gawking at the thing. I strapped on the bright cheery red helmet, it was a nice contrast against my banana yellow coat. I climbed on board, I pushed myself forward and then….I crashed right into a lamp post. I thought skateboarding would be easy. But those few seconds of cruising, along with the wind flowing through my short mane. It almost felt like I was flying! At least I think that's what flying feels like? After my head stopped spinning, I jumped right back on my board and practiced skateboarding until it got dark. Grandmother was very upset that I was late for my daily charm lessons….But I didn’t care I managed to sneak my new board in my room! I love that thing so much that I even sleep with it!

“Wings dear! Please join me for dinner, a lady must never be late!”
“Coming grandmother!”
“A lady doesn’t shout, my dear!”
“Then why are you yelling?” Wings mumbled to herself.
Wings dipped her quill in the ink pot beside her, she then picked up her quill.

I guess that’s all for today hopefully, I can practice my skateboard skills tomorrow! I can’t wait to go skating again!

Wings set down her quill, she waited for the ink to dry before shutting her journal. She learned that lesson the hard way, her first journal entry is a little smudged. Wings picked up the journal, she put it in the empty drawer in her desk. Before Wings left her desk to head down for dinner she looked at the blue skateboard on her bed. A large smile crept on her lips, as she shut the door to her room as she went to join her grandmother for dinner.
