The Sun in the Twilight of Night
Middle
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSun strode through the town of Ponyville happily. The previous night's escapade was in the rear of his mind as he went for coffee at his favorite place. He sat at a table outside under the sun. Not a cloud above him as he sat and waited for the waitress. A white mare with a blue mane caught his eye from across the patio and he couldn't help but notice her listening to music on one of the new models of portable music players. Her head bobbed and rocked as she listened to a song he probably didn't know from a band he didn't know in a city he'd never been to.
He was instantly intrigued. The waitress arrived and he placed his order for a large iced mocha with extra whipped cream and cinnamon with a chocolate stick. The nurse smiled wide at him and winked making him blush slightly as she went back to the restaurant to make his drink.
He quickly got up and went to the mystery mare that caught his eye and sat across from her. Her eyes were locked on a magazine before her but she looked up to see him awkwardly smiling at her. "Uh, yeah?" she asked taking off her ear phones.
"I was sitting over there and noticed you're listening to a portable music thingy, what's it like?"
"Oh," she smiled warmly at him, "it's really spiffy. Ya see, there are these discs that hold the music called compacted discographers, or CD's for short. And you put them in here," she opened the case to show an intricate web of crystals connected with gold wires, "and the gems scan the recorded music on it and it sounds just like real!" she said excitedly handing him the ear phones. He smiled wide and took them as she turned on the music for him.
He placed the earphones on carefully and relaxed, ready to hear the latest classical song from Baltimare's Symphony Orchestra.
"Oh, it's one of those rock and roll songs?"
"Just wait, it'll rock your heart out."
He swayed his head slightly and felt the passion in the guitar flow into his head. The synchronistic beats were calming, more than what he expected. Then they began to sing.
"I don't understand what they're saying..."
"It's called Melodic Death Metal. It's really good isn't it? Here, let me play you something I love."
He raised an eyebrow as she paused the music and skipped the song turning the volume up. He heard a slight crackle.
"Oh, rain? Is it a-" He winced as the music started. "IT'S KINDA GOOD," he shouted very loudly as the music rumbled his eardrums. He felt slightly dizzy a minute into the song but waited patiently moving his head jumpily around try very hard to find the beat. Finally his drink came and he took off the earphones. "Thank Celestia, I mean oh good. My drink's here," he said as his ears rang loudly. He looked at the mare who raised an eyebrow at his drink before smiling at him and exhaling slightly.
"Wow, I was worried a bit. Well, what'd you think? Good stuff, huh?"
"..."
"Did you like it?"
He smiled at his drink and took a gentle lick of the whipped cream and smiled then looked at her moving lips. "What?"
She noticably laughed but all he could hear was ringing.
"I told you that music'd rock your head off."
The next several minutes she talked as his hearing recovered. He nodded and drank his drink focusing on trying to read her lips as she enthusiastically explained her passion for music. "Hey, wanna come back to my apartment and listen to some more music?"
He heard that. He nodded casually and ate his chocolate stick before sliding off his chair and watching her flap her wings slightly as she got to the ground. "Oh, I didn't know you were a Pegasus."
"What, the wings didn't give it away?"
"Well, I was kinda looking at your face the whole time."
She blushed and motioned with her head down the street. He turned and dropped a hoof full of bits on the table and trotted after her.
"Don't you think that was a bit much for a coffee?"
"I don't care, I get to be with you."
"Awe, you're so sweet."
"Well, this' my home. I have a simple place, I know, but I love it."
He looked around at the single room and nodded. A bed in a nook, posters all over the walls and the window had beads over it instead of a curtain. Lots of herbs were growing in pots around the room and she had some rolled into cigarettes in a large bowl.
"Want one? It'll relax your mind and let the music flow better."
"Uh, I'm not really a smoker but thanks."
"Your loss," she said grabbing one and lighting it on a small candle. Taking a deep breath the herbs entered her body and she coughed heavily for a minute large puffs of smoke.
"Oh my, are you alright?"
She stopped coughing and fell backwards into a bean bag smiling. "I'm far out, stallion."
A few hours passed and they listened to a lot of music and spent a lot of time talking and she kept smoking before she started to fall asleep. He sat next to her and placed a hoof on her leg.
She smiled at the ceiling and opened her legs slightly almost beckoning him lower as she relaxed and felt him begin to rub her moist personal area. She moaned slightly. "Mmm, Ashy. Yeah."
"Wait, Ashy?"
"Huh? DUDE!? What the flock?" she shouted closing her legs pinning his hoof between her thighs inches from his goal spot.
"What? I thought-"
"You though I was into you? I totally thought you were gay!"
He gasped and yanked his hoof free and fell, rolled, away landing on his flank looking at her with shock and confusion that showed his hurt heart. "Gay? But, why?"
She looked at his trembling lower lip and puppy dog eyes and sighed. "Look bud, you ordered the girliest drink I've ever seen. You didn't check out my body when we were talking. You listened to every word I said and watched my mouth the whole time. You didn't jump for joy or flirt with me at all from the cafe to my place and we've talked music and you didn't make any moves or smoke with me. If you aren't gay you have to really stallion up around mares."
He listened and took it all in.
"I was deaf. That's why I didn't do anything. I couldn't hear a word you said until you asked me to come back here. Then, all that smoke you were blowing made me relaxed and I didn't wanna do anything."
"Look, if it were possible I'd think about it but it ain't gonna happen. Sorry." He stood up and sighed.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door and she ran to the door to open it.
"BLU!" A mare shouted
"Ashy!"
They embraced into a deep kiss that made Sun's heart race.
"Blu, I got her and she's ready, we gonna do this?"
"Hell yeah, let me get this guy outta here first. Hey Sun, you gotta leave. It's girls day, if ya know what I mean."
He looked at the mares and smiled wide as he got it. "Okay, you two have fun."
"Three," a familiar voice said turning into view. "... SUN!?"
"TWILIGHT?!"
The awkwardness between them was palpable before Ashy and Blu pulled Twilight in and quickly said goodbye to Sun. The mares giggled loudly through the door then went silent. He placed his ear to the door and heard light moaning and closed his eyes. Looking around the hall he noticed the time of day, only one other room on the top floor and that looked to be unoccupied. He took care of himself again listening to the mares make love. Finishing he cleared his throat and left the floor. Halfway down the stairs he heard the door open and Twilight said something into the room and then shouted in disgust.
"What the spell?! Somepony ejaculated all over the doorway and I stepped in it!" followed by a round of laughter from the other mares, "I just wanted to go pee!"
He shrunk and hurried from the building and turned any way he could to escape the scene.
Why can't I get laid?!
