Battle Zone

I was dead.

All my life, I was told to help others.

I didn't listen that fateful night. My older sister, Max Ride, was telling me to stay with the group. God, her eyes were shining like the moonlight. I couldn't look away from her face that moment, so I nodded. Teal was playing with his wannabe leader sister, Pheonix. Pheonix was sitting on a stump, waiting for Teal to stop poking her arm. Teal stopped, then looked at Maxie. "Max," He uttered. Pheonix turned around and gave a small squeal of fear, then ran away.

Someone was behind Max, and they were going to kill her.

Brutally.

I was opening my hand for my knife, but they stabbed Max in the back. I stood in utter shock, looking in the dark, cristaline eyes of my newfound enemy. Teal tried to kill the person, but he failed, resulting with his arm getting cut off. The enemy ran off in the darkness, laughing like a madman.

"Nikolai... Why did... why did you let her kill me?"

I turned around to see Max breathe her last breath. Tears started to roll down my face as I saw her body start to go limp.
