Chapter 1: A war we can't win
Equestria, half mile from Appleloosa.
"General, the recon squad had returned safely."
"Excellent, so how many griffin down there ?."
"Sir, they have found a few group of griffin guarding around the town, each group have about 150 to 170 soldiers, we have no problem dealing with them."
"Good job captain, return to your position."
The captain salute and walk away.
"This is way much easier than I thought." the generals said, he wears a golden armor with a purple star in the middle of his chest plate, a 4 feet sword hang on his side, the sword's handle was decorated with gems and a star like the one on his chest. Put his helmet on, he roars:
"Lets take our land back"
Pointing his sword toward the town, He sprints down the hill, followed by 2 thousand elites guards. His golden armor's sparkling under the sun, he hold the sword with both hands, bring it near his left shoulder. Other hold their spears level with their chest. They form an arrow formation, rush to the town. The broke through the first enemy defensive line, killed every enemies they saw without a single sweat.
"ACTIVE SHIELD." the general suddenly shouted.
They break formation, the first line quickly spun around, letting another group step in front. This group, how ever are different, they have horns. Their horns suddenly shine with different colors magic. Together, they create a giant magic barrier just in time to protect themselves against the arrow rain, the sun has disappear behind a huge cloud made of arrows. But when the arrows touch the barrier, they all bounce out.
Smile to himself, the general shouted again."ARCHERS."
A group of guard with wings hover above the barrier and started to shoot arrows at the enemy, each arrow take down one of them.
"FIRE SPELL." the general demanded.
The unicorns stop the protection spell, causing the barrier to slowly disappear. Instead, they fire magical beams. They keep shooting arrow and magic until all griffins are down.
"Send the signal captain." the general said, put his sword back to his side.
"Yes sir" the captain salute.
He point his horn up and fire a spell, it make a smoke trail, when it reach 50 feet, it explode in to red ball of fire like firework. Three more explosion with the same color from three other side of town.
"looked like we have clear the out side of town already." a pegasi said land on the ground.
"That's so boring, I haven't warmed up yet." an earth yawn pony crack knuckles.
"C'mon, lets move in to town." the general commanded.
In the last few years, Appleloosa have extended significantly, from a small town with less than a hundred pony to a quite big town, but it still kept the traditional style.
The royal guards started to move in to the town, they walk slowly, check every streets, building. Find finally, they regroup with the rest of their force in the middle of town.
"Captain Lightning Flash of the North team reports sir" Lightning said.
"Just do a quick report captain"
"Actually sir, my report is quite short, my team only encountered a big enemy force defended out side the town but inside, we found not thing, not even a civilian."
"Sir, it happen to my team as well." Flash Sentry said
"My neither, sir." captain of the West team said.
