Chapter 1: A Fluttery Appearance
This day's Ponyville is just as relaxing as yesterday. It's like that they feel the wind is calm, the birds are chirping, ponies are mingling. They can't just made the day complete without happiness and love. This day is all about how kindness of a mare works to win a heart over somepony.... er..... dragon so she can finally be with him for all eternity. All she could think about is a certain small and purple dragon who is looking very chivalrous, cunning, handsome, and sweet. She would think about him for the things he did to her.
Inside the castle of Twilight's, Twilight was busy reading her books to know what the meaning of friendship is. And with her assistant who is responsible of cleaning and reorganizing books everyday known as Spike who is completely tired of his work and decides to take a break in his throne beside Twilight's throne. He very well indeed did a great job by doing his work but all he could think about is somepony special who eventually honor Spike from his doings, and that somepony special is Rarity, the fashionista who inspires to make dresses, and also known as The Element of Generosity. He couldn't stop thinking about her, her mane, her style, her generosity, and most importantly, her beauty. He can't stop fantasizing and imagining about her. He would dream himself as a built and muscular dragon to save the mare of his dreams from danger and harm. He would be dreaming about it now, but he was interrupted by Twilight who snaps her friend out from his dream.
"Spike... Spike!" Twilight yelled at her friend, yet if he is awake.
"Huh.... uh... what?" Spike felt a bit dizzy after waking up on his dream with Rarity.
Twilight wasn't amused at Spike's actions. "Were you been daydreaming again?"
Spike blushed. "W-w-what?!! N-no! No not really!"
Twilight lets out a smirk and rolled her eyes. "C'mon Spike, I can see it from your eyes, you're thinking of Rarity again, do you?"
"Erm.... um..... n-no?" He lied, nervously.
"Then what are thinking of?"
"Um..... j-just gems, I mean YES! GEMS!" Spike laughed in a weird way, more like that he's nervous at something. He started sweating.
"Gems, huh? Are you sure? Because I know that you're lying." Twilight leaned closer to Spike looking at each others eyes. But for Twilight, she seems very excited at something for his assistant.
Spike gulped for a second, still blushing like apples. "Y-you th-think I am?"
"I'm sure of it Spike, you told me that you have a crush on Rarity with Pinkie before, remember that?" Twilight did remember that moment were Spike tells his crush from Rarity. She did her best to shut her mouth up, not to tell Rarity about his crush to Spike. It was indeed the Pinkie promise, and no know is allowed to break the Pinkie promise if Pinkie allows it to do... well... no, I mean. No one is allowed to break the Pinkie promise.
Spike finally gave up. "Fine, I give up, I am thinking about Rarity... and I just couldn't stop."
"Couldn't stop? So you love her more than a crush?"
Spike reddened. "W-what!!! I-I mean, maybe?"
"Spike, I know you want Rarity to be your very special somepony, but are you a little too......" Twilight bit her lip, not trying to offend Spike.
"I know, I'm too young for her and I know that it's never going to work, I know that Twilight."
"So, even though, you still like Rarity?"
Spike reassured. "Yeah, she's everything to me, everything that I can dream of her." He sighs lovingly.
"I know you're obsessed with her, but were was I, oh... Can you buy me some more quills, I'll give you bits for these to buy them." Twilight levitates her small bag of bits and hands it over to Spike.
Spike cocked his eyebrow. "Aren't you going to buy these quills yourself? I know that I can buy them from yourself but-"
Twilight put a hoof on Spike's lips. "I have a lot of work to do as a princess, I mean, look at these papers. Don't you think it's really important to me?"
"Well, um..... all I can say is, it is really important for you. Why would you say that it's not really important for you?"
"I'm requesting you to buy those quills because I'm your assistant, remember?"
"Oh..... hehe... right." Spike scratched his head nervously.
"I'll get your quills back in no time!" Spike saluted and walks out of the castle, slowly disappearing from the distance.
Twilight let out a small giggle. "Oh Spike."
Spike went to the town of Ponyville were ponies chat, talk, buy, etc. whatever they are doing. He was looking for a shop that was known as a bookstore were Twilight always went there to buy some books. Spike couldn't think of what to do but to run straight towards the bookstore that he was finding. But he couldn't stop thinking about Rarity and so he is lost on his track.
A certain yellow and a shy pegasus named Fluttershy was visiting Sugarcube Corner were the Cake family lives. She would go there and buy treats for herself, or even talk to Pinkie if she gets very bored. When she finally arrives, Pinkie was there in the counter, waving customers from welcoming and leaving customers. She was in charge to take care of this store, and also to take care of those two babies who were the Cakes' babies. Pinkie greets Fluttershy her welcome to Sugarcube Corner, even though she heard that like fifty times or so. "Welcome to Sugarcube Corner, how can I help y-... Fluttershy!" Pinkie jumps out of her counter and starts to hug Fluttershy.
"O-oh... um.... can you let go, I'm... much more hungry that I can have to imagine." Fluttershy said, timidly.
Pinkie lets her go and starts skipping around. "So what can I interest in you for something? Cakes? Donuts? Sweets? More Sweets?! Lots of sweets?!! ALL SWEETS?!!!" She said in her excited tone, seeing a pegasus step back from fear for her being excited that much.
Fluttershy took two step backs away from Pinkie. "N-no.... I just wanted to buy some cupcakes, that's it."
"Oh... well why didn't you say so? How many?"
"A couple of them."
"Oh... OkieDokieLokie a couple of cupcakes coming right up!" Pinkie paced her way to the kitchen, trying to make cupcakes for her friend.
Fluttershy sat on a seat with a table beside a window which you can see houses there in Ponyville. She watched ponies seeing like they're having fun, but there is something that she didn't even see. She saw Rarity with her newly fond coltfriend who is a black pegasus with a thundercloud cutie mark who was also known as Thunderlane. Who saved Rarity from falling together with the Mane 6 except Rainbow who was in the Wonderbolts Academy with her team including Thunderlane. They were having a romantic stroll together, talking about how they met, how they like, and how they do. Fluttershy saw the two and she finally knew what was going on. "Oh... I hope Spike wouldn't see this, otherwise, he might be heartbroken."
Pinkie was done making cupcakes that Fluttershy ordered, and skips her way to Fluttershy's table. "Here you go, a couple of cupcakes that you ordered."
"Oh... thank you Pinkie." Fluttershy smiled at her friend.
"No problemo as always, if there is any problem, Pinkie's here to help you out in any way I can, well maybe, but even though I can if I have to try, even if I can get to save other ponies lives from trouble and if there's anyway I can save them, I will either call for help or to risk my life to save them. Oh, are we talking about having emotional problems, I think Pinkie is here to help them out without any problem in need and-"
"Um... Pinkie, one of your customers are already there in the counter waiting for you." Fluttershy let out a hoof and points at the counter with those ponies who were very grumpy waiting for a pink pony to appear in the counter.
"Oh, okay, I'll be back for a while.... or maybe ten minutes if that's okay."
Fluttershy nods with agreement if she could spend more time with Pinkie, but now is not the time to do so. She needs to go to the bookstore were Spike was heading as she gobbles two of her cupcakes, and quickly left and waves farewell to Pinkie.
"See ya later Fluttershy!" Pinkie waved back with a smile at her face.
Spike ran without looking at his tracks while he is still imagining of Rarity and him being together for eternity, but it doesn't seem that anypony can stymie his way, not knowing where he was going. "Oh Rarity, I will always protect you from harm no matter what!" He was talking to himself on how the role in his head between Rarity and Spike would look like. "Oh Spike... you'll always be my Spikey Wikey." He said it to himself like if he would imitate Rarity's voice thinking that would suit it. A few ponies saw Spike running like a doofus with hearts popping out of his head which made everypony laugh or even be appalled.
Fluttershy dashes her way to the bookstore without knowing that Spike immediately bumps into Fluttershy which made the two collide, but Spike grabs Fluttershy's waist with his left arm, and quickly grabs her hoof with his right claw. They were staring at each other's eyes for a moment, and it made the two blush madly, so as Spike if he'd mimic her's. He quickly gets Fluttershy back to her feet and it caused Fluttershy to look away, still blushing.
"Oh... um, H-hey F-fluttershy. W-what b-brings you here?" Spike fidgeted his claws, trying to stop his blush.
"O-oh... u-um.... h-hi... Spike, I'm j-just on my way to the bookstore to get more quills." Fluttershy muttered as she quickly hides her face, not looking directly at Spike at the eye.
Spike thought of that he was going to the same store as well. He tries to get his comeback back, and so he did. He's still into Rarity though. "Oh great, now she's heading to the store that I'm going. Guess I have no choice but to join her." Spike thought in his head, thinking if is a good idea to hang out with the kindest and sweetest pony in Equestria, well... maybe some may be the sweetest like her. He shook his head without getting the nervousness he gets with Fluttershy.
"I was going to the same store on like you said." Spike smiled reassuringly, trying not get nervous.
Fluttershy giggled softly at his smile. "Oh, so.... um, w-would you like to join me?"
"Sure, I would do anything to a friend like you, Fluttershy."
Fluttershy giggled at Spike once more. "Okay, let's head off together."
As they head off to the bookstore, Fluttershy can feel butterflies in her stomach that she was trotting next to Spike, she still can't face him eye to eye, on what he did to her. That collision which made Fluttershy fall and Spike quickly grabs her to prevent from falling. She wouldn't forget that moment on what he did to her. She was smiling sweetly, seeing such a cute little dragon catch her from falling, maybe made her day too. So she asks Spike about his day.
"S-so Spike, how's your day in Equestria." Fluttershy is still not looking at Spike directly in the eye.
"Oh... everything is fine, well almost everything I guess." Spike scratched his head, thinking of what his day went well.
"Oh.... o-okay....." She mutters softly.
"Well, how about your's? How's Angel Bunny doing?"
"Oh, he's perfectly fine, he is very well." Fluttershy said, reassuringly.
"Oh.... well, good for him." He chuckled softly.
As the two get into their confessions on how they were going. They were almost on their way to their destination, Spike could feel a sigh of relief and rejoice that they were almost there. Fluttershy without knowing nudges Spike at his side, she was blushing lightly that she did that to Spike so he would able to notice her. Spike was definitely confused at her actions on what she is doing, he quickly take a step back to avoid Fluttershy's touch.
"Fluttershy, what are you doing?" He cocked an eyebrow.
"O-oh... um... n-nothing, I just wanted to stay by you so I wouldn't get lost."
Spike wasn't satisfied. "Fluttershy, you know that I'm closer to you, we were just on our way to the bookstore."
Fluttershy lowered her head with a bit of embarrassment she caused. "Oh.... okay then..."
"Geez, what's up with her? It's like that she's being..... well, I don't want to describe or to offend but, she's acting pretty weird today. I wonder what's going on to her." Spike thought.
As they finally reached their destination, Fluttershy took a step forward, entering the bookstore. But Spike stopped for a moment as he looked in awe that he saw a jewelry store. It would be perfect to give Rarity a gift, so he immediately left Fluttershy's side as he deals with the bookstore later. Fluttershy grew concerned to Spike, not wanting to tell the truth that Rarity has a coltfriend.
Spike stopped for a second and thought that it was a good idea to buy Rarity a gift, as he thought that it was a good idea. As he thought of Twilight's request he lowered his head with a frown on his face, he pulled out the bag of bits and shook it how much left does those bits have inside. So by that, he decided to go with Fluttershy to buy Twilight’s quills that she requested him to do.
Both Fluttershy and Spike entered the bookstore were a shopkeeper is in charge taking care of this store. Spike walked to the counter and asked the shopkeeper. “Um, excuse me mam, um… do you have any available quills you got there? My friend really needed an extra pair of quills.”
“Oh, it’s right over there, there are a bunch of boxes of quills here. But too bad you can’t reach it from up high enough.” She pointed the quills that it’s at the top shelf, all that’s left there. Spike eyes widened as he can’t reach those boxes of quills there, he tried to at least jump to get those boxes of quills, but failed. Fluttershy flew up and grabbed one small box of quills that Spike needed, she gave it to Spike with a smile on her face.
"Here you go Spikey, just for you to get Twilight those quills."
"I-I don't know what to say.... th-thank you Fluttershy." Spike said as he hugged Fluttershy, it made her blush a little. So she hugged him back with embrace that she could even do this for hours. Spike broke the hug and goes to the counter, where the shopkeeper is been waiting for, so he placed a bag of bits that Twilight gave him.
"There we go, twenty bits. Is that enough?" Spike asked the shopkeeper.
"That'll do, except for that single bit." She gave a single bit to Spike.
"Oh, okay then."
As Spike was about to leave the store, Fluttershy stood there, giggling at him and what the shopkeeper noticed about is Fluttershy was really indeed acting a bit weird since Spike came along. The shopkeeper leaned closer to Fluttershy's ear and whispered something interesting or maybe embarrassing. "You like the little guy, do you?" She smirked at Fluttershy waiting for an answer if she could say yes, but instead.
"I-I think so...." She nervously fidgeted her hooves, as her mind is now full of Spike in her head.
"I think you might be interested in that little fella, why don't you go talk to him about your feelings." She placed her hoof in Fluttershy's shoulder, betting that she can tell Spike right away.
"I-I'm not sure..... I know he loves somepony more than me, I know that." She lowered her head feeling a bit depressed.
"Look here, I know that little guy has some interest in that fashionista but you can at least try, you're better than her you know?"
"But how? How am I going to win his heart?"
She placed a hoof in Fluttershy's chest. "All you have to do is to be yourself, show yourself what good your self-esteem is, I know you can, I promise."
"Y-you think it's gonna work?"
"It never fails, if you gain enough confidence to yourself."
Fluttershy gently hugged the shopkeeper and started thanking her for the advice. "Thank you, I'll never forget that."
"Anytime... say, I've got to admit that little guy hugging you was really cute though." She winked at her.
Fluttershy blushed at the moment and left without a single word.
Spike got his quills that Twilight requested, after by the time that Spike was heading to Twilight's, but again he started staring at the jewelry store again. His mind is now into Rarity, he is now thinking of a perfect gift to give to Rarity so that she can accept his feelings that he's been dying to have this and share them with a sweet blissful kiss. Spike thought of something that if he had enough bits left in his pocket, so he decided to visit the jewelry store and check the perfect gift for Rarity.
After when Fluttershy left the bookstore, she saw Spike running towards the jewelry store in the front door. She knew that it wasn't a good idea anymore if she would be hesitant. So without knowing, she is following Spike with a concern look on her face. As he entered the store, she stopped from a moment, still thinking if it is a good idea or whatever... so she decided to wait for Spike until he gets out of the store.
"Oh Spike, I should've told you about Rarity's coltfriend."
