This mask made me who I am today
My dear Twilight,
There is more to a young pony's life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location: Ponyville. And, I have an even more essential task for you to complete: make some friends!
Twilight sighed at this. "She wants me to make friends. Just great. Come on Spike, let's get going so we won't need to be there longer than we need to be."
"Wait Twilight! There's more!" He continued reading.
There is also a bodyguard that I sent for you. He is an ambassador from Dream Land, a country that borders Equestria. The king of that land, King Dedede sent him to make some friends also, covering it up as just another job. He is also in charge of security, so I'm pretty sure you'll get to meet him. So the most important thing to do there is make friends. That's all for now.
P.S. You are also staying at a library, so you are free to use any of the books.

"There's a country that borders Equestria? I wasn't aware of this, but do you know what that means Spike?"
"Oh no..."
"While we're there, we're studying! And after we study, I'm going to find proof of Nightmare Moon's return!"

They went by chariot, flown by two male Pegasi. Whenever they got to ponyville, they saw a gigantic ship in the sky with bat wings.
"I'm expecting that to be his ship. I don't even know his name!" They landed in the middle of the town, where they saw a ball in a mask with its cape wrapped around it.
"Umm... Hello? My name is Twilight Sparkle, and I take it that you are my personal bodyguard?" He nodded.
"You are?" She stared into his cold, emotionless eyes.
"Meta Knight, and this is my associate, Capt. Bandana Dee." The orange ball with yellow feet and stubby arms saluted. It held a spear in one hand.
"I am aware that you come with royal duties Ms. Twilight Sparkle?"
"Yes. I am in charge of making sure that the preparations are ready for the Summer Sun celebration." His yellow eyes still were cold and emotionless. She had to do something to spark him up.
"So... is that your ship up there?" He nodded.
"What's first on the list?"
"Let's see..." She took out a scroll of duties.
"First is catering at... Sweet Apple Acres!" He looked at Bandana Dee.
"I want you to escort her there. Take her anywhere else she needs to go. I need to handle security. Am I understood about what you need to do?" His eyes were still cold and emotionless. She knew that something was wrong, but she couldn't figure out what.
"Yes sir!" He nodded.
"I need to go. I can assure you that you will be safe." And with that, he disappeared in an instant.
"How'd he- what the- what kind of magic was that?!?"
"That's just one of his abilities. He's able to teleport because of his cape."
"So... his cape is magical?"
"I have no idea. It's REALLY weird, but I guess his backstory is weird too."
"What is his backstory?" Bandana Dee sighed.
"I best not say it. It's really personal to him and he doesn't share it that often. But let me just say, it's the reason he doesn't like the concept of 'Friendship'."

At Sweet Apple Acres...
A blonde cow pony ran up to a tree hitting it with her back hooves, causing apples to fall out of it and into baskets.
"Yeehaw!"
"Let's get this over with." She walked up to the cowpony.
"Good afternoon. My name is Twilight Sparkle--" The orange mare ran up to her and started shaking her hand.
"Well, howdy-doo, Miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance. I'm Applejack. We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like making new friends!"
"Friends? Actually I-" She looked back at Spike and Bandana Dee who were blabbing their gums off (even though I don't think that a Waddle Dee has gums)
"So what can I do for ya?" Spike and Bandana Dee snickered. Twilight cleared her throat.
"Well, I am in fact here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration. And you're in charge of the food?"
"We sure as sugar are! Would you care to sample some?" Bandana Dee raised his arm up.
"Pick me! I'm so hungry I could eat a tree!" She looked at him and back at Applejack.
"As long as it doesn't take too long..."

Meanwhile with Meta Knight...
"Make sure every entrance, window, and vent is secure!" The Waddle Dee nodded and went off to go do his job. Sailor Dee approached Meta Knight.
"Sir, are you sure that we don't need any ponies for security? They are all pretty good." Meta Knight looked at Sailor Dee, filled with frustration.
"Do I look like I need 'ponies' for security?" Sailor Dee shook his head.
"I don't want you questioning my tactics, do you understand?" Sailor Dee nodded.
"If anyone tries to come near the princess, I will slaughter them on my own." Sailor Dee grew worried.
"Sir, are you okay?" Meta knight looked at him, his frustration dying down.
"I am. Continue as planned." Painful memories echoed in his head.
'I HATE YOU!!!'
'I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!'
'YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND I CAN NEVER LOVE A MAN LIKE THAT!!!'
These quotes remained in his head. He regretted that certain decision on the day that changed his life. He needed to forget it but he couldn't. He couldn't forget the day he, Metallix Alexandre Knightmare, got his mask.

Hey you guys, my name is margopolo and today I bring you a chapter of my newest fic that will tie into origins: This mask made me who I am today. I wanted to sort of make Meta Knight's backstory since he doesn't really have one, so yeah! Please do LFF and I will see all of you... IN THE NEXT CHAPTER!!!

"Ughhh... I think I ate too much pie...." With her stomach bulging out, Twilight checked off Sweet Apple Acres.
"I feel absolutely refreshed! Meta Knight would never allow me to eat like that." She looked at him, in a very disturbed manner, after remembering how he ate.
"What's next on the list?" She levitated the checklist, seeing the next job.
"Apparently there's a Pegasus pony named Rainbow Dash who's supposed to be clearing the clouds." She looked around.
"Well, she isn't doing a very good job is she?" And with that, karma hit her in the back of the head as a certain rainbow maned Pegasus smacked into her.
"Whoa!" Bandana Dee pointed his spear at the Pegasus who hit Twilight.
"Identify yourself or I will have to get physical!!!" She sat up.
"Dude, no need to get harsh! It was an accident!" She sort of sounded like a boy.
"You okay?" She chuckled.
"Lemme help you." And as fast as lightning, she went, got a cloud, and started... stomping on it? Rain came out as she did, cleaning Twilight a little too much.
"Sorry, must've overdid it." She chuckled some more. Bandana looked at her with adoration in his eyes, not even paying attention to twilight getting a new hairstyle. Her mane looked so rugged- the sign of a athletic personality. He imagined-
"Uhhhh dude? You okay?" Bandana Dee shook his head.
"Thanks for snapping me out of that Spike. I didn't know what happened there."
"Look at Twilights new hairstyle dude!" He started chuckling but Bandana didn't do the same.
"What's so funny?" He looked at Spike, the Pegasus and then Twilight.
"Do I have a stain on my bandana?" He took it off of his head, examining it.
"I don't see anything on it." They continued staring in confusion.
"Anyways... how's it going with the weather..." He looked at the clipboard.
"... Rainbow Dash?"
"The one and only! Why? You heard of me?" Twilight butted in.
"I heard you were supposed to be keeping the sky clear." She sighed
"I'm Twilight Sparkle, and the Princess sent me to check on the weather." Rainbow Dash went to lay on a cloud.
"Yeah, yeah, that'll be a snap. I'll do it in a jiffy. Just as soon as I'm done practicing." Twilight grew confused.
"Practice for what?" Rainbow Dash stood up proudly.
"The Wonderbolts! They're gonna perform at the Celebration tomorrow, and I'm gonna show 'em my stuff!" Bandana sat down.
"I think I've heard of the Wonderbolts before. They are Princess Celestia's personal flight team... right?"
"Well, looks like somebody's an egghead!" Twilight butted in once more.
"The most talented flyers in all of Equestria?"
"That's them!" Twilight snickered.
"Pfft! Please. They'd never accept a Pegasus who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day!" Rainbow grew angry at this.
"Hey, I could clear this sky in ten seconds flat!"
Twilight smirked. "Really? Prove it."
Ten seconds later....
" You should see the look on your face. Ha! You're a laugh, Twilight Sparkle. I can't wait to hang out some more." And with that, Rainbow Dash moved on with her day.
"She was amazing!" Bandana added a punch line.
"Yeah, she must've been a parking ticket, cause she's got fine written all over her!" Spike stared in disgust.
"Dude, you just went too far. If you want punch lines, you need to talk to a love master, also known as: me." Bandana stared at Spike in awe.
"Amazing..."

With Meta Knight...
Sailor Dee spoke. "Sir, we have Waddle Dee at every vent, window and door. We should be on schedule. Anything else?" Meta Knight closed his eyes and thought.
"I want everyone who is not currently stationed to go back to the Halberd and take a rest. They will be escorting the princess to where she needs to be. I will go and check on Bandana Dee. Make sure he didn't screw up." He paused.
"I want you to rest also. You will be sitting with me and Bandana. I also want 3 guards to stay on the ship."
"Understood sir." And with that, Meta Knight teleported to where destiny took him.
"Okay men take 5! If you aren't assigned as a guard, head to the ship! You'll be escorting the princess to her quarters when she arrives!"

"Decorations... Beautiful..."
"Yes, the decor is coming along nicely. This ought'a be quick. I'll be at the library in no time. Beautiful indeed."
"Not the decor, Her!" Spike pointed to a certain pony who was a very generous soul.
"How are my scales? Are they straight?" She ignored Spike, proceeding to talk to the mare.
"Just a moment, please! I'm 'in the zone', as it were. Oh, yes! Sparkle always does the trick, does it not? Why, Rarity, you are a talent. Now, um, how can I help yo--" she gasped in awe and fright.
"Oh my stars, darling! Whatever happened to your coiffure?!" She looked at Spike and back at the mare.
"Oh, you mean my mane? It's a long story. I just need to come here and check the decorations and I'll be out of your hair!"
"But darling, what about your hair?!?"

Outside...
"This sucks! I have to stay outside while they have all the fun inside." He sat outside of the building, just waiting for them to leave.
"Slacking on the job, eh?" He looked up seeing his ferocious and merciless leader: Meta Knight.
