The Sand Fillies

Twilight took a step back. The timberwolf stood up growling as three others emerged. Twilight took another step, snapping a twig. One of the timberwolves lunged at her, only to hit a magic barrier that lasted seconds. Another lunged at Twilight, who was unprepared. The timberwolf knocked her over, and prepared to go for the kill. Twilight withdrew the sword, standing up, and holding the sword in front of her, wobbling. She knew that she couldn't use magic to hold the sword, so the weight of it caused more wobbling, and, eventually, toppling over. The timberwolves, amused by this, sat back until their opponent was prepared to fight, even if it was pointless.

"Wanna go?", says Twilight with the sword in her grasp.

A timberwolf puppy came at her jumping up with it's teeth bared. Twilight swung the sword, successfully cutting the wooden back of the puppy causing it to fall towards the ground, breaking upon impact. A timberwolf launched itself at Twilight, slamming into a tree due to Twilight moving out of the way. The last two timberwolves jumped at the same time, from different directions, one being hit away from Twilight and the other landing on top of her.

"Urge get off er me" says Twilight, struggling to get away.

Then the timberwolf fell limp, breaking into thousands of tiny pieces, revealing a gray stallion behind it.

"My oh my, you must be Princess Twilight! Mah name is Silver Star, it certainly is a pleasure meeting ya!" says the gray pony, bowing down before Twilight.

"You can stand up now Silver Star, and it is a pleasure meeting you as well" replies Twilight, "and thank you for saving me"

"It was mah pleasure, but may ah ask, what are ya doin in this here forest?"

"That is a very good question, for the answer, I am on a very important mission"

"Well, do ya need a place ta stay for the night?" asks Silver Star.

"Yes, I do"

"Well then follow me princess!"

"Please, just call me Twilight"

"Alrighty then, Twilight, so what is this ultra important mission that yer goin on?"

"You will probably think that it is absurd"

"Nah, lemme guess, yer lookin fer somepony? Or a group of ponies? Ah can't remember wait dat letter said"

"Wait?! What letter?!"

"Princess Celestia sent me a letter a few hours ago, tellin me that you were comin, that's why I was out n about"

"So, you were looking for me?" Twilight asks, puzzled.

"Eeyup! I knew that you were comin down here to mah village, it's one of your stops on your trip. Boy do ah got some info for you!"

"Wait a sec, you know who the group of alicorns are? B-but that ca-ca-can't be true...I haven't met a single pony who knew a thing about them"

"Well then today's your lucky day Twilight! I know everythin 'bout em. Mah family has an old book with their information in it"

"Wow, so I guess that those alicorns are pretty important to you then?"

"They sure are Twilight, they sure are. Heck, I know where they used ta live, I could take ya there if ya like!"

"Oh, Princess Celestia told me to follow the map."

"Who needs an old map when ya got somepony ta show you the way there!"

"Well, I guess your right, let's go get to your village and head off from there. I don't know about you but I feel like some pony is watching us"

"Well, I, uhh, took a longer route yet it was safer but we are mighty close to the desert"

"Umm, then I probably sense some sand fillies watching us"

"Or it's a timberwolf den"

"WAIT, WHAT?!"

"Hurry, come this way, we will cut around through the desert, they don't dare ta come to the desert"

"Oh, ok"

They walked slowly and quietly out of the forest, stepping into the hot sand in the desert. Twilight and Silver Star were not aware of the sand filly standing still watching them walk slowly, further away from her.

"What do you think you are doing?" says the sand filly, showing an angry expression at the two ponies as they jump around in fear.

"Uh, we were just avoiding some timberwolves, eheh, a whole pack of em, sorry to come onto your tribe's land. Your a wise leader, am ah right?" says Silver Star nervously, taking a step back, staring cautiously at the alicorn sand filly.

"I should have you know that I have no tribe. I'm pretty low ranked, pretty much at the bottom" replies the sand filly, taking a few steps forward, "But I will earn my place when I capture you, or at least report you"

"But why aren't you a leader? All alicorn sand fillies are leaders, why are you any different?" Twilight says, joining the conversation.

"I shall tell you why! I wasn't named Weirdo for any other reason!" The sand filly yells at the two ponies that turned around and ran back into the forest, "YEAH YOU BETTER RUN!"

Upon reaching the village after nonstop running after the encounter with the alicorn sand filly, the two ponies were exhausted. Twilight met the townsfolk, realizing how happy and joyful this little town really is. The dinner was a huge feast of many salads, pastries, and other assorted unique dishes. After dinner, the townsfolk brought Twilight to Silver Star's home to rest for the night. Tomorrow was a new day, and with new friends, Twilight knew that the journey across the desert would be easy enough, and also gaining more information about everything.
