A classic gray mare with a sophisticated, dark gray mane and tail gritted her teeth as a vibrant white unicorn mare with spiky, neon blue and blue hair bobbed her head while spinning music records on a DJ set. Vinyl Scratch's magenta sunglasses glared, and she beamed a smile at Octavia, who rolled her violet eyes and fussed with her pink bow tie and white collar. Vinyl flattened her ears and frowned at being ignored. She turned her gaze to her black tiled floor.
I get that she doesn't like my wubs, but why can't she respect them like I respect her orchestra music stuff? Tavi probably doesn't even think I know what an orchestra is... Vinyl Scratch, crestfallen, lifted her glasses with her and rested her head on her turntables. Her dark pink eyes watered, and yet, she tried to hold back the tears. *splat* She sniffled as she stared at drop that had landed on her record.
Octavia noticed none of this since she had her full attention on her vanity mirror as she brushed her mane and quaffed her tail. She puffed the bangs of her mane and smiled in approval. She then trotted over to her honey-brown cello. With extensive care, she removed it from its stand and proceeded to being it over to a large cushioned, black case. She slowly placed the classic string instrument into it before wrapping several velcro straps to hold it down. She then placed her bow in a custom compartment within the case.
She closed the case and secured it. Octavia extended a handle and placed it on her flank and tested the wheels on the case. "Alright, Vinyl. I'm going to a concert to perform. You have the house to yourself tonight. I expect there to be no mess when I get home this time. And, please, limit yourself to one, maybe even two mugs, Vinyl," Octavia said without looking at Vinyl Scratch.
Vinyl quickly swiped away a tear. She doesn't even look at me when she addresses me. Some sister Tavi is.
Then, Octavia, with a smile plastered on her face, trotted eagerly out the door. Vinyl watched sadly as she left. At least I have the house to myself... Vinyl suddenly perked up. Yeah! I can do whatever I want! Tavi can't tell me what to do! Vinyl got up and began walking outside. She slammed the purple and brown door close with one of her hind legs as Octavia galloped away in anticipation from the house. She stared contently at the warping colors of orange, pink, red, blue, and yellow on the horizon. She silently sighed.
A white unicorn mare with carefully styled hair that we usually spiky was laying out a red and white checkered blanket on the ground. She began unpacking a nearby picnic basket full of sandwiches, apples, and lemonade. Her dark pink eyes sparked with satisfaction, and she puffed out her chest which adorned a blue bow tie.
Tavi's gonna love this! Vinyl Scractch stared at the horizon which was currently being painted by Celestia's Magic. Uh oh... I better get Tavi out here before the sun sets! Vinyl turned around and began galloping towards a house spilt in the middle by colors. She burst through the brown and purple door. A gray mare with a dark gray mane was brushing her hair while humming a classical tune.
She turned around when she heard the door slam open. She raised an eyebrow. "Vinyl... Why on earth are you dressed like that?" Vinyl prodded at the ground and made a few motions. "Let me finish up, and then I'll come outside." She resumed brushing. Vinyl frown and lit her horn, and a magenta aura wrapped around Octavia. "Wah!! Vinyl, put me down this instant!"
Vinyl ignored her and dragged her outside. "Vinyl, this is very unbecoming! You shouldn't just levitate ponies out... side..." Octavia gawked at the sight before her. An elegant picnic was laid out with all of Octavia's favorite foods. Her violet eyes watered. Vinyl drew her attention when her white hoof prodded at the ground. Octavia leaped over to Vinyl and hugged her.
"Thank you, Vinyl... This has been the best birthday ever... I'm glad to have a sister like you..."
Vinyl blinked at the memory. It felt like her heart was being squeezed. She galloped back into the house while tears streamed down her cheeks. You're glad? Then why do you ignore me? It's bad enough that every pony ignores me because I can't talk, but now my own sister? She rammed the door which simply swung open. Vinyl jumped onto her bed and collapsed. She silently bawled as tears made her pillow moist. You say you love me... But you don't show it, Tavi!
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Vinyl punched her bed frame in response. There was gasp.
"Scratchy? Are you okay," I high-slightly squeaky voice asked. Pinkie Pie? Vinyl Scratch wiped her tears and began trudging towards the door. When she opened, a very pink mare was standing there, staring at her with concerned baby blue eyes.
"My Pinkie Sense told me some pony was crying here. Are you okay, Scratchy?" Vinyl sniffled before streams of water began to flood from her eyes.
Pinkie took a small step back in shock. Vinyl has never broke! Pinkie Pie quickly wrapped the mute DJ in a hug. She felt her shoulders get drenched in tears. She mentally shrugged it off. Nothing a hot shower can't fix.
"Sh, sh, shh... It's okay, Scratchy..." Vinyl prodded the ground and made weird patterns. Pinkie gasped. "Don't you ever, ever, ever, ever say you're not important again! Do you hear me, missy!?" Vinyl choked up a bit from crying, but she nodded. Pinkie sighed and closed her eyes. "Every pony's important, Scratchy... From a helpless foal, to a reigning alicorn..."
Vinyl sniffled but then began prodding at the ground again. "Of course Octavia lives you! What do you think you're saying!?" She prodded some more and slammed her hooves at the end. "Vinyl Scratch! Look at me in the eyes!" Vinyl hesitantly looked at Pinkie's blue eyes.
"Octavia loves you; a lot at that! But some ponies have a difficult time expressing that love. Since you're sisters, you were taught to tolerate one another if you disagreed. It's your job to make sure Octavia can see your pain, and that she tolerates you as you tolerate her!.." Pinkie paused in thought. Suddenly she giggles and winks at you. "After all, Luv n Tolerance..!"
"Oh, last thing! Whenever some pony has a sibling, especially the same gender, the feeling's mutual. Just remember that, Scratchy!" The pink mare got up to leave... "See ya at your next gig, Scratchy!" ... and she trotted out the door.
