“All of those years now seem like a blurred memory...” Twilight sighed as she looked out over her city. It has been five decades since her and her friends defeated Tirek and saved the world. In that time the world has seen much change.
Ponyville has expanded into a city as prosperous as Canterlot, and as large as Manehattan. Buildings dominate the one rural sky. Now horseless carriages dominate the streets powered by unicorn magic. New technologies have rose, new innovative ponies dominate the industry, she Equestria is now more wealthy and rich then it had ever been. Still, the past leaves a mark on all.
Twilight left her Castle balcony and returned to her room where a picture of her she her friends sits on a desk.
“To think, we did all that, and we were so young.” Indeed so. Thanks to Alicorn magic, Twilight cannot show age, she cannot die from natural causes. Which makes the years that go by even more painful to bear.
She looked to where Fluttershy stood.
Fluttershy, some years ago, began to open veterinary clinic across Equestria. Now she owns the largest animal care facility in the city.
Then she looked at Rainbow Dash who became a wonderbolt general before retiring ten years ago. She fly's by the castle to say “hi” every so often.
Then to Applejack, she left Ponyville after the expansions began. Now she lives in Appaloosa with her husband. She looked at Spike and chuckled. They have four children, and twelve grandchildren, with the exception of one great grandchild.
She gazed upon Rarity, she lives in Ponyville with her fourth fiancé. Rarity did go on to become one of the most prominent mares in fashion. It may have gone to her head though.
Then finally to Pinkie, her story is quite simple for a mare like herself. After years of party planning she opened a department store specializing in party goods. After all that she left the party business for acting.
That leaves Twilight Sparkle. She set the picture down. Then two royal guards rushed into her room.
“Princess Twilight!”
“Yes?”
“Princess Celestia has invited you to a conference between Equestrian royalty.”
“A conference, what for?” she mumbled to herself. “Thank you. I'll leave now.”
“Wouldn't you like to take the Chariot your highness?”
“What for? I can get there with a teleportation spell.” In a flash she was gone.
“I can never read that mare...”
“I've been working with her for years. There is no reading her.”
In the Canterlot castle throne room, Celestia paced worriedly around mumbling “This can't be”. Luna sat in her throne with a serious stare.
“Sister please stop pacing, you are unnerving even the creatures in Tartarus.”
“Forgive me Luna, but I had a dream were Equestria was swallowed whole by a being of darkness!”
“I know, I looked into your dreams! Pacing around like that won't solve anything!”
“I am trying to understand-” Twilight Appeared in front of the two. “Thank goodness you are here.”
“I came as soon as I heard. What's going on exactly?”
“We will discuss more when Cadence and Shining Armor arrive.”
They waited and some later they arrived. Cadence came running in with Shining Armor close behind.
“Princess Celestia,” Cadence spoke. “We came as soon as we heard the news.” she looked closely at Celestia. “You look terrible.”
“Don't worry. It's just a lack of sleep, which is why I summoned you all here. The last few nights I've been receiving these ominous premonitions in my dreams. Luna investigated and found a creature that is not known of here in Equestria. We know not what it is, or where it originated. All we know is that our entire world may be in peril.”
“What happened in your dream?” Shining Armor asked. Celestia looked to Luna. She gave her a reassuring smile. “It was the darkest void. I was in the center. I couldn't move or feel anything. Then I heard a voice telling me “your time has come”. I witnessed this, thing spread like a virus across the world. Infecting all who it touched, transforming them into monsters filled with hate and anger. After that, it consumed me...”
“What should we do?!” Twilight asked worriedly.
“We need the elements of harmony.” Luna added. “You and your friends need to face this threat.”
“Well, princess Luna. We may not be able to do that...”
“Why not?”
“Because her friends don't share in the longeviety that we do.” Celestia Explained.
“If that is so, then why is Shining Armor still youthful?” he backed away a some.
“I used the age reversal spell on him...”Cadence admitted. “It only lasts temporarily...”
“Then there is only one course of action. We must find new bearers of the elements.”Celestia declared.
“But, where would we find them?” Twilight asked. Celestia looked to Luna, then Cadence.
“What about those two twins you have been teaching?”
“Don, and Dianna?!” Twilight stopped for a moment, and rubbed her chin. “I don't know. They could have an elemental connection, but that can't be for certain.”
“What elements do you see in them?”
She thought some more. “Don can't tell a lie, and Dianna is very sweet. But how would I find out?”
“I am not certain. The only way for the elements to reveal themselves would be if they were brought together.”
“Of course...”
“Worry not Twilight Sparkle. We will give our new bearers, and vanquish this evil.”Luna reassured.
“But as of right now, Equestria is in danger. I want all of you to be on guard. And Twilight.
“Yes, Princess?”
“Contact your friends. We will need their help in the search for the new elements of harmony.”
With that They all left the throne room except for Luna and Celestia. Luna approached her sister and placed her hoof on Celestia's shoulder. “Come sister, you need to rest.”
“Thank you Luna... ”
