They had been living in a web for a while now, they had repeated the ritual countless times in an attempt to get spike to notice them, but however their attempts were in vain.
Spike was currently crying to himself on the stairs of the library, having no idea what to do seeing as Twilight was no longer around. Twilight had felt sorry for him on multiple occasions, she desperately wanted to find some way of communicating with him.
The large round eggs Twilight had laid earlier began to hatch, and so hundreds of small baby spiders, flooded the library, coloured almost entirely black.
“You do know we have to look after the offspring now right?” Big mac asked.
He had fetched twilight food on multiple occasions, which consisted mainly of insects that had been caught in the web. Twilight was thankful for this, as she had spent most of her time resting after so many mating rituals.
Twilight and Big Mac started to scuttle away as quickly as they could from the flood of baby spiders, but they soon found that they were in no real danger - the spiders had no intention of killing their parents. They witnessed a solid black mass of itchy screaming death cover every surface of the library. Millions of spiders continued to swarm out of the eggs. The flood seemed to be endless.
Spike lay curled up in his little dragon bed, moping. Things hadn't been the same since Twilight's disappearance, and it had been over a week since he had any decent ideas about what to do about it. He was depressed and miserable.
Suddenly, he heard a scratching, high-pitched noise coming from upstairs. His curiosity overcame his melancholy and he plodded up to investigate.
He was intercepted by a solid wall of spiders pouring down the stairwell, which overwhelmed him almost instantly.
Spike had just enough presence of mind to scream, but doing so did nothing but allow the swarm of spiders access to his lungs and stomach. The spiders soon surrounded and trapped spike in a large cocoon. Draining his fluids for sustenance.
