Chapter 20: Where Joy can Sing

I layed in my hospital bed, thinking about how great my life has been. Sure it sucked at first because of America, but it was still great. I still wish I went to Britain. I sighed out of boredom until a blue colt and rainbow pegasus arrive.

"Hey guys!" I said happily. "How're you?" I ask. Rainbow smiles brightly.

" I'm well, so you're going to get out of the hospital soon,"she said. I put my fists in the air in victory.

"I have survived their food and bathrooms!" I proclaimed. Rainbow and Fretus laugh. I loved their laughs. I got up, stretching. Nurse Redheart walks in and sees me and frowns.

"Mr. Smith, you need to be in a wheel chair," she said.

"Come on Nurse Redheart, me legs 're fine!" I said in a pirate accent, getting a few giggles from Fretus. The nurse points her hoof at me, then the folded up wheelchair in the corner. "Okay okay, fine," I said, slightly pouting. The nurse rolls her eyes smiling and continues her walk to wherever she's going. I popped open the wheelchair and sat down on it. "I gotta admit, this is one comfy wheelchair," I said. I looked at Rainbow smiling.

"Oh no!" She said. "I have to get Fretus to school!" She said wide eyed. My eyes opened wide as well.

"Well we better go!" I said. I rolled the wheels as fast as I could, trying to catch up to Rainbow and Fretus. I soon got out of breath and stopped rolling. The wheelchair on the other hand kept speeding up. I soon ever so slowly caught up to them and waved. "Hi guys, so how're wings working out for you?" I ask. Rainbow rolls her eyes and speed up, Fretus flying with her. I then realized I don't know how to stop this thing. I looked franticly and found a lever. I pulled it and then I slowly stopped. When I did, I opened my eyes to see a bunch of little ponies staring at me. Not sure what to say, I said the first thing that came to my mind. "Wassup?" I ask. An orange filly stepped up in awe.

"That was awesome," she said. I smiled in pride as Rainbow and Fretus landed beside me, sighs of relief coming out of their mouths. A purple pony with pink hair walked up.

"Um, excuse me, are you Mr. Smith?" She asks.

"You guys gotta stop calling me that, makes me feel old," I said chuckling. "Just call me Sam," I said. Purple pony then smiles.

"Alright Sam, my name is Cheerilee, I'm the teacher of our school!" She says. I smile.

"Oh really? So, do you teach Fretus?" I ask. She nods.

"Yes, and Fretus is doing fine in this school, in fact he and Scootaloo seem to get along really well," she said. I smile.

"That's great, I think I'll hear more about it after Fretus is back after school," I said. She nods. I ruffled up Fretus' hair and started rolling away, waving bye. Then, Rainbow started directing my wheelchair into town. We headed to my house, a house that was almost like every other house. Rainbow opened the front door and I felt a good chill rush to me. I got up and sat on the couch and looked at the television. I smile.

"TV I MISS YOU!!!" I yelled. Rainbow holds her ears.

"Sam, only mares should scream as loud as you do," she said. I shrug, smiling. I looked around to see everything was where it was, but I felt like something's missing. I soon looked at Rainbow and then I felt something. I felt something spark. I don't know what it was, but I felt a spark. Then, Rainbow started waving her hoof in front of my face, snapping me out of a trance.

"Anypony home?" She asks. I nodded.

"Yep, I'm home," I said smiling. Rainbow smiled sadly. I then started feeling something, not a spark or anything, but I feel like there's something I don't know. "I um, don't think I feel too good, I think I'm tired, wake me up when Fretus is back from school," I said. Rainbow nods.

I've been laying down forever and cannot remember what's missing. I then sighed and got up. I heard a zap and looked down the hallway to see the lightbulb going a little crazy. I carefully got on some rubber gloves from a drawer and got a step ladder. I am gonna play it safe and sound. I unscrewed the bulb and the bent down to get a new one. When I screwed it back in, I got a small shock. I jumped in surprise and fell off the step latter. I banged my head into the wall and got up. Then, I saw a memory...

I looked at Rainbow and thought to myself, you know what, fuck it, I instantly pulled Rainbow Dash in for a kiss...

"Rainbow, I don't know how you feel about me, but I love you."

"I love you too dude," she kissed me and I think I felt my heart melt.

It all started coming back to me, my first kiss, wedding, son, and my first wife. I quickly got up and ran out the door. I ran through Ponyville, my feet as cold as ice and my head, filled with determination like a bucket filled with water. Twilight stopped to see me run past her castle, and frowned. Pinkie sighed as she sat with her cash register. Then, the doors slammed open.

"Pinkie, I am in need of five old fashion and choco donuts, ASAP," I said. Pinkie gasped loudly and got my order.

"You go tell her Sam, all this will be on the house," she said. I nodded and ran with a box in my arm. Joe was gasping from his long jog, and stared at me in disbelief as I ran faster.

I am going to make this right. I then metaphorically turned on awesome mode and jumped over tables or just ran around them. I kept running. I then saw Rainbow's cloud house in view. "RAINBOW DASH!!!" I called. "RAINBOW DASH GET YOUR SORRY FLANK OVER HERE!!!" I yelled. I saw a rainbow pegasus swoop down and land in front of me with panic in her expression.

"W-what's wrong Sam? Did your house get burned? Did y-" I dropped the box and grabbed her head, pulling her into a long, passionate kiss. I broke the kiss long enough to say I love you. "You remember?" She asked. I nodded. She kisses me more, and I fell over because my legs hurt. She laughed so hard when she figured out why. She looks at the box of donuts and opens it.

"This to celebrate?" She asks. I nod. When we ate all the donuts, I sighed in relief. I felt complete, like a story was over or something. I dunno, but all I care right now, is to live with Fretus and Rainbow from now on. I have found my happiness, and I'll make damn sure I won't lose it.
