Diamond In The Rough
Smoothing Things Over
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"And that is pretty much all I have to say, Coach Spitfire. I acted without thinking. The only intent in my mind was to protect and the result from my actions was the insubordinate behavior you saw the other day. I deeply apologize for that and will try the very best that I can to make sure it doesn't happen again."
Diamond and Silver stood before Spitfire inside her office within the locker rooms. They had been able to catch her while everyone else was filing out to do their normal stretches before they played their weekly game so they could begin their mending of spirits. Coach Spitfire had a kickball under one arm and the other on her hip; she had no discernible expression. During Silver's long-winded spiel the only thing Spitfire did was raise an eyebrow from time to time. Other than that, she remained completely silent.
With Silver finally bringing her apology to an end, Coach Spitfire dropped her head and sighed. She placed the kickball down on one of the many bleachers that lined the lockers and stepped toward the two girls. Diamond was clinging to Silver, and ducked behind her even more when their teacher approached them. Spitfire looked at both of the women and shut her eyes tight; her fists clenching hard enough to the point of white knuckling.
"I... I-I-I..." Spitfire tried to choke out, but the words caught in her throat. Then she let out a long breath she was holding and noticeably relaxed. "I.. owe you an a-apology t-too," She finally said. "The way I treated Miss Tiara was uncalled for and was not the proper way to handle the situation." Spitfire looked to Silver Spoon. "I understand why you came to her rescue now. I was not aware of her current "condition", but that doesn't mean I still don't feel bad for how I acted. I am extremely ashamed of myself and can only hope you will forgive me. I look forward to the sensitivity training sessions that Principal Celestia is initiating Friday."
They said one could always tell when another was lying by looking at their face when they spoke. Coach Spitfire wasn't lying to the two girls.
Diamond stepped out from behind Silver Spoon and brought Spitfire in for a crushing hug.
"Thank you, Coach," Diamond whispered, "That means a lot to me and Silver. We appreciate your kind words and accept your wonderful apology." Diamond nuzzled into Spitfire's neck and tightened the embrace. "We think you are an amazing coach and an even more valuable friend. A friend that will always be there for us. And we promise not to let you down."
It took a moment, in that time Diamond began to feel discouraged, but Spitfire finally gave in and wrapped her arms around Diamond as well, returning the hug. Silver's heart thumped inside her chest as she clasped her hands together and looked on in silence at the loving sight before her. She knew this was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between student and teacher that would only blossom and grow from here on out.
As she was looking at this wonderful display of affection, it finally donned on Silver what was happening. Diamond was making new friends.
This new discovery sent warm sensations through her chest.
Diamond and Silver were home once again, in Diamond's room, dancing the afternoon away. They had changed into their casual house clothes and were now displaying their love for one another through dance. Silver took the lead again, holding Diamond close to her body as they twirled in circles around the pink girl's room. With Diamond this close, Silver was able to smell Diamond's hair, feel her heart thumping inside her chest, and hear every breath her love made. Silver thought this must be what people described as "next to heaven".
Diamond's eyes were closed and was enjoying the warmth emanating from Silver's body as she led her in dance. Diamond didn't even care that the dancing wasn't up to "professional" standards. She just liked being closed to Silver. Diamond nuzzled into Silver's neck and breathed a contented sigh. Silver began to rub Diamond's back as they spun and twirl in step with the music.
Silver pulled away from Diamond, jolting the other girl out of her trance, and stared into her beautiful sapphire eyes, never getting off step. Silver smiled lovingly at Diamond, who returned the gesture, and placed her hand under the carnation-colored girl's chin. Diamond's heart skipped a beat and picked up its pace as Silver caressed her cheek with a thumb, then all at once, she planted her lips on Diamond's.
Diamond sucked in air through her nose as a sign of her surprise at the suddenness of Silver's actions, but soon melted like better into her lover's embrace and allowed her eyes to flutter shut; she felt electric tingles shoot through her body as Silver tilted her head from side to side, trying to dig deeper into the kiss. Diamond was motivated to press even further in herself.
A thought crossed Diamond's mind, an important and very special one. She grudgingly pulled away from Silver, never getting off step.
"Hey DoubS?" asked Diamond.
"Yeah?" Silver replied.
"Your birthday is coming up soon. Got any special plans?" Diamond asked with a knowing wink and pressed closer into Silver's body.
Silver smirked in response. "Oh, I have a few ideas on how I could spend it. Maybe I could go home for the week and spend some quality time with the fam," Silver said in a mock tone, but felt a pang go through her heart when she saw the hurt look on Diamond's face. Silver smiled and leaned in closer to Diamond, "Or I could spend it with the most beautiful- Kiss -wonderful- Kiss -sweetest girl in the universe. How does that sound?" Silver finished her question with one final big smooch and giggled when she noticed the stars in Diamond's eyes just before she close them.
Diamond opened her eyes and gazed longingly at Silver. She leaned in close and whispered in Silver's ear, "That sounds extraordinary," and kissed her cheek. Silver pulled Diamond even closer and began to pepper her neck with light pecks. Diamond moaned in satisfaction and tilted her head to allow Silver more access.
"Nineteen. What a milestone..." Diamond whispered. She felt the kisses on her neck stop, but Silver remained where she was, still slow dancing to the music.
"Yep. And it wouldn't be complete without you," Silver replied, hearing a happy whimper from Diamond. Silver smiled in satisfaction and continued dancing with her lover.
Silver knew this was the girl she was going to spend the rest of her life with, just as much as Diamond did.
