Luna walked down the stairs, wiping her eyes groggily with a bare hoof as she heard a light clinking sound. It was her sister, stirring her morning tea with a silver spoon in her favourite divine porcelain mug that had the rising sun (she had quite a nice stay when visiting Japony). Setting her spoon down, she turned to see she sister walking slowly to the counter. Luna's hair was in shambles, despite it's sombre movement.
"Hi Luna," the ruler greeted kindly.
"Hello Celestia" Luna replied with a yawn.
"Bad night, huh?"
"Yes. Remind me again why it is that I have to wake up this early?"
"Don't you remember? We have to visit the Crystal Empire today. Cadance asked if we wanted a spa day there, and there's no way I'm letting either of us pass that up. The spas in the Crystal Empire are legendary!" Celestia eyed her sister warily. "I don't recall you ever being this tired in the morning. What happened last night?"
Luna trotted to the cabinet and opened it, bringing her own mug (this one with a design that depicted a ribbon being wrapped around the mug itself) out with her. "Apparently some foals in Equestria do not know about me yet, at least my conversion. I found one last night." She poured her usual ingredients into her freshly-made coffee and stirred. " I tried to help the poor colt, but he was just scared and ran away. I tried to reassure him I was safe, but that required me to get close to him and... you most likely know what he did."
Celestia nodded her head in agreement. "He ran?"
"Yes! I could not use force to get him to listen, because that would result in him seeing me as more of the monster he thought I was. Ow!" Luna was so distracted by her story that she didn't even realize that she was progressively biting the rim of the mug harder and harder, sending pain through her teeth. "I just do not know what to do. I thought everyone was already informed about the real me and how I am no longer... That." She let out a soft sigh. "I guess that's just how it is going to be."
With that she walked out of the kitchen and towards her chambers. Celestia followed the navy alicorn with her eyes as she left, feeling sad for her little sister.
'Luna doesn't deserve this,' She thought. 'She deserves to do what she wishes and do what she's best at without feeling bad for it'. She pondered what she could do. A moment passed, and an idea struck her.
It was crazy, but it just might work. Or rather, he was crazy, but he just might work.
*Time Skip- 1 Hour Later*
"Luna, you need to come with me! I have a surprise for you!" The queen called to her sister.
Luna was staring out of her large chamber window, looking out onto Canterlot and beyond, thinking of the incident of the night before. With one last glance, she turned and trotted to the door. Using her magic, she opened it and walked along the corridor, meeting her sister a few feet out of the door.
"Please tell me you have a good surprise," Luna spoke to her.
"I don't know. It depends on if you like it," Celestia responded, a content smile on her face. The soft velvet carpet flattening under their curved horse shoes. Not before long, they reached the throne room, Celestia entering first with Luna close behind her. When Luna's gaze met the figure in the room, she was immobilized.
"There's the lucky lady!" The tall figure exclaimed, looking on with red and yellow eyes. He bowed, his clawed limb outstretched while his lion paw was kept behind his back.
It was the master of confusion himself, Discord.
"Celestia? What is this?!?!" Luna shouted to her older sister. She expressed a look of a mixture of confusion and frustration as she sternly pointed a hoof in Discord's direction. "What's he doing here?!"
"Oh, tsk, tsk, Princess," the draconequus across the room called out to her in his usual condesending tone as he settled on Celestia's throne, spreading his long body out horizontally on the vertical seat. "You should've learned the etiquette of being respectful to a visitor".
"Respect is to be given to those who deserve it," Luna retorted. "Not to scum such as yourself."
"Luna!" Celestia exclaimed. "Don't be so rude!"
Luna turned to her older sister, angered from being told to be kind to someone like Discord. "Doth thou not recall the meeting of this morn? Hast thou not gazed upon this being's treachery? Hast thy mind gone blank?!"
"Luna, calm down. You're Royal Speech is coming out again." Celestia said while stepping back cautiously. The last time Luna's fury had gotten this out of hand, by the end of it she had be restrained by guards so she didn't add on to the three broken windows and the gaping hole in the wall of the throne room the stood in presently. After taking a few breaths, she calmed down.
"Apologies, Sister. I just don't understand why it is that you thought to invite Discord when you knew I was already feeling the way I did."
"She thought I could help, dear Princess," Discord jumped in as he brought himself into the conversation. He floated off the throne and started sauntering over to the royalty. "It seems that your sister thinks I have the ability to cheer you up. Turn that frown upside down, as the say." Discord held the Luna's fleshy cheeks and lifted the navy-blue-furred skin up, dragging her lips up with them, simulating a smile. Luna used her magic to pull away Discord's hands (paw and claw more like it) from her, and shot a glare.
"I don't need your help, Discord," the smaller alicorn informed. "I'm just fine."
"Or course you are, Night Princess," the draconequus replied with a smirk. "Because it's completely normal for Alicorns to have water come out of their eyes."
Luna became flushed with embarrassment at the words. "I was not crying if that's you're impl-"
"Oh! oh woe is me!" Discord teased as he appeared with blue locks on his head and mascara running down his cheeks as he fanned his face with his lion paw. "I shall never truly be loved!"
Celestia decided to stop his foolery, as she could see her sister getting quite agitated with their guest. "Discord, please." She spoke firmly.
With this, Discord heeded his overdramatic act and returned to normal. Celestia could see why it was that Luna didn't treat him as an associate. The Queen turned herself towards her younger sister.
"Luna, please. I'm worried about you. What if this slum you're in keeps going on, and becomes worse? The best solution is to nip it in the bud, and I feel that Discord is the most skilled for the job. So, what do you say?"
After a moment of thought, Luna heaved out a sigh. "How long will it go on for?"
"Only for tonight, and maybe tomorrow if you're not your usual self by the end of the night." Celestia comfirmed.
With a tad more thought, Luna finally agreed. "Fine. But if he ends up making me worse than I already am-"
"Then I'll deal with him. But I don't think that's gonna happen." Celestia shot a cold look at the draconequus. "Right, Discord?"
"Oh, yes yes." Discord reassured the two. "Don't you fret Princess Luna. You'll be good as new by the time you return home."
