On the planet Tovi you will find an island on which everyone is a wolf. Sand Pack and Forest Pack, you get the idea. But this isn’t about the two packs… no… most of this tale doesn’t even take place on Tovi, let alone Mezaa! This story starts there, and will soon take place in a magical land called Equestria. But, of course this begins on Mezaa. This is the story of Dark Blitz, a darkone from Mezaa, who discards the roots of his misguided past, and discovers the magic of friendship.
“H-he’s a darkone.” His mother stammered in shock.
His father, Cloud walks up and says, “Indeed he is. Let's name him Dark!”
His mother Purple Blitz widened her eyes, stifling sobs worriedly. “Won’t he be evil?”
“Maybe so Purple… we can only hope for the best.” Purple was about to respond, when she suddenly clenched her head and fell over. Cloud cried out upon seeing that she was struck by one of the Sand Pack members.
“Take Dark somewhere safe…” she murmured weakly. Soon after she spoke those words, Purple laid still, the rising and falling of her chest coming to an abrupt stop. She lay there, lifeless on the ground of the Forest Pack den. Cloud whipped back and forth, his eyes gleaming with fear, loss, and fury. He screamed in frustration at the hidden Sand Pack, no doubt waiting for another chance to strike.
Cloud took one last look at Purple's deceased body, and whispered, "I'm sorry." Cloud picked up the baby darkone by the scruff. Cloud raced to the portal, leaping through, where he came out into Equestria.
Cloud halted, allowing himself a minute to still his beating heart. Dark, throughout the commotion, had began to struggle, not appreciating the bumpy ride. As he set Dark down, Cloud turned back. There were no followers; hopefully his escape had been a complete mystery.
He sighed, looking down at his child, who wrinkled his nose at the sudden change in environment. “Soon.” Cloud said to Dark. “Soon you will meet your cousin Hope!”
Before the events of Friendship is Magic...
Cloud had stepped out of the out of the portal into a pleasant village dubbed Ponyville, which was within the magical land of Equestria. A radiant white Alicorn approached them and welcomed Cloud and Dark, who was still only a baby.
"Greetings, travelers! I am Princess Celestia." Said the Alicorn graciously.
The Alicorn bore a cutie mark that looked just like the sun. She stood by the school house, where the fillies and colts were heading home.
"The name's Cloud," said Cloud Blitz. Celestia turned her gaze to Dark.
"Who is this?" She inquired politely.
"That's my son. His name is Dark."
Sometime during the events of Friendship is Magic...
Eight years had passed, and darkness was across the land. The darkness was like a void. It was darker than Nightmare Moon's eternal night. The clouds were just evil looking. This wasn't going down too well. At first everypony was too stupid to notice. You know how weird they can get.
“THEY MOVE BY THEMSELVES!” Screamed Lyra.
"Really. That's what they’re scared of!?" Dark muttered under his breath. He felt his anger burn. For years, his father had hid Dark's identity from him, desperate to tamper with his destiny. Dark had always sensed there was something different about him.
Something bad. And he was. Dark was the bad guy. A darkone, a destroyer. He was the monster mothers warned their foals about at night. And now here he was, embracing his true self, ready to let this world perish.
And these fools were too dumb to fear him.
"THE HORROR! THE HORROR!" Screamed another pony. “THE HORROR! I MISSED THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!” She added. She ran after it, passing Red Apple Acres.
“REALLY! DO YOU NOT NOTICE THE DARKNESS!?” Dark screamed in frustration, his magical aura flaring. He felt relief at his voice becoming magically amplified. It felt empowering. Not that he needed it, of course.
“AH! DARKNESS!” Yelled a young colt. Everyone flipped out. The colt ran into the school house hoping to be safe.
“FINALLY! THEY GET THE POINT!”
A grey Pegasus with the name Derpy looked at Dark and said, "Are you selling muffins?"
"I honestly do not know how to respond to that..." He groaned with a confused look.
Just before Dark could start the complete destruction, six ponies, all mares, galloped to stand in front of the Ponyville town hall. Dark realized that he could sense their intentions. They were there to use the Elements of Harmony against him.
Dark hesitated. He felt that these Elements were of extreme magical abilities. The Mane 6 began to float. Shaking his doubts, Dark focused his evil power to float, the aura enveloping his body growing brighter. Dark was also ready for a fight, but another thought tugged at the back of his mind: was Dark as evil as he thought he was?
“So do we turn him to stone?” Asked Rainbow Dash.
Twilight looked at Rainbow Dash in horror. “NO! He is just a little colt! Let me talk to him.”
Twilight turned to the colt, ignoring Dash's protests, and asked him, “Why do you want to do bad things?”
He glared at Twilight, his eyes burning into hers. “Bad things… that’s the answer… I am made of bad things, so I must be bad.” He smirked, as if he had told a rather clever joke, but Twilight could see that the colt was obviously not proud of this fact.
“No. You don’t. All bad things have some good in them. You have good in yourself.” Twilight insisted.
“But… I’m a darkone.” The colt replied in a depressed tone, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
Twilight held her gaze, “That doesn’t mean you have to be evil. There is a magic… that magic is the magic of friendship. It doesn’t just exist in us six… it is in all of us. It exists in Lyra, Derpy, Discord, the Sirens. It even exists in you.” Twilight avoided staring as the darkness shrunk. It grew smaller and smaller, until it finally dissipated into nothing. The darkness disappeared completely and the young colt stopped floating.
He looked up at Twilight with infliction in his eyes. “So I can be the good guy?”
“Exactly.” Twilight smiled warmly.
The colt fumbled around nervously, his eyes already moist with relief, shame, joy, sorrow, and utter perplexity. Twilight drew closer, wrapping her foreleg around his shoulder.
"My name is Twilight Sparkle."
The colt lowered his head, hesitant to make eye contact again.
"I'm Dark."
And so Dark was reformed. He went on to make new friends. Soon he discovered a stone called the stone of skill. He and some friends did amazing things, like stop dragon attacks and defeat many evils. His cousin Hope thinks the victories against those evils were from the stones alone but, Dark knew better. He knew that it was the magic of friendship inside them. He had a friend named Pez. Pez was the one who introduced the stones. Pez carried the stone of solution. But, that is a different story for a different time.
A few years later, Dark is now an 11 year old colt. Dark isn't the smartest pony (that would be Hope), nor is he the dumbest (that would be Pez). As you know from this story... he was... not bad, but misguided. He never wanted to be bad, he just thought he was destined for it. He became good, of course. He and most of his friends are blank flanks because they are still kids. I would tell you the moral is not to judge but, that would be cheesy... even though it is kind of true. So... don't judge a game by it's case. The next chapter will tell you what went on in his life after this happened. Also, don't judge a pony by their first story!
