Adrenaline Rush sat behind the wheel of her Dragon Racer, watching as the flag-bearer made her way to the starting line.
12 hours earlier:
'Okay Rush, today is a Hot Zone Drop-off.' Her street scout, Phantom Watcher, told her as she made the finishing touches to the cars engine. 'You're starting in Ponyville with about 20 kg of Alicorn Dust in the trunk. You're to take any route you can to get it to Cloud Nine's Pharmacy, drop off the package, and lose the cops.'
'Wait, why would I have to lose the cops?' Rush responded as she brushed her mane to the side.
'The cops will be given an 'anonymous' tip five minutes before the race starts.'
'Who in the right mind would-'
'Cloud Nine offered a quarter-million bits to whoever brings their shipment in, unscathed, first.'
'Who's my competition?'
Watcher cleared his throat as he pulled out a sheet of paper. 'Numbskull, Spectre, and Hook... none of the big names.'
'Then this should be easy.'
Present:
"3... 2... 1... GO!!!" The flag bearer shouts as she waves the flag, the response being a chorus of tires squealing and the roar of the engines as they hit their limit.
Rush yanks the wheel to the right, drifting around one of the turns and heading down the alleyways of Ponyville, keeping an ear open for the-
"All units we have a 10-94 in progress, please check in over."
Cops.
The race drug on through the early morning hours when Rush found herself being pursued by Canterlot Interceptors, getting that buzz that made her feel at home with her surroundings. Her finger lingered over a red button with a skull on it, tempted to remove the fail-safes on her car's engine to see what it could really do.
She then snapped the wheel to the left, causing her car to lurch in the designated direction, then jerked the wheel in the opposite direction, causing the car to go into a drift.
