Standing Stones- book 1 - A Dark cloud
It's weird how quickly things can change. One minute you're strolling around, enjoying the day, the next you're hearing voices and stopping an impending darkness. I know being dragonborn is more than just stopping dragons, it's stopping any form of evil. Find the time filly... That's when I first heard the voices.
"But I don't wanna!" I complained. Can a colt walk around Ponyville in peace!?
Too bad! Just find the time filly. You won't regret it... The voice promised me with a whisper. I don't understand why I should find a time filly. I didn't even know what it meant! I had nothing better to do so, I just went with it. I knew this was not going to be easy.
I traversed Ponyville, looking every which way to locate this time filly. I even considered peeping into ponies' homes. For two hours this went on, my efforts fruitless.
How will I even know the time filly when I see her?
I decided that instead of looking over every filly I saw, I would just ask. There might not be much more to it than that. With this thought in mind, I approached a lilac purple Unicorn filly (who sorta reminded me of Twilight) standing idly by the Ponyville Town Hall.
"Hey!" I called as I trotted over. " I'm looking for this time filly." I told her. She scrunched up her face in confusion. She obviously thought I was crazy, and she... well, she overreacted... a lot.
"You're mental... I will have to kill you now..." She said plainly as she pulled out a sword. I don't understand... Why does she need a sword (where was she hiding it?) What does she mean she has to kill me? I am obviously not the mental one here.
"I am not mental... well, maybe just a bit stupid." I chuckled wryly. As the Unicorn stepped closer, she swung her sword at my neck. I leapt out of the way with an "Eep!" Her sword had grazed my skin. It wasn't too serious; just a small cut. But it was enough to tick me off. I got close to her, knowing she wouldn't be able to swing the sword. That was a big mistake.
She moved her front right hoof back and punched me right in the side. I heard a loud crack, and yelped. I flapped my wings, trying to take off, but I groaned in pain and sputtered back down to the ground. Realizing I was out of options, I turned and bolted. The filly wasted no time catching up. Panting, I didn't dare turn around, as I sensed she was ready for another swing.
"Hey! Take my hoof, I can help you!" I heard a voice yell from the sky. I raised my head to see a light brown Pegasus filly reaching down as she flew lower. She held out her hoof, which I clasped on to so she could get me out of this situation. She flew up. We were in the air, far above the unicorn filly, still furiously giving chase.
The Pegasus filly flew us out, far out of town. I was surprised to see that she seemed unbothered by my weight. For a long time, she glided through the air, silently, and had a feeling we weren't stopping for a breather. After quite some time, I saw Manehatten appear on the horizon. I looked up to give her a questioning stare.
"Trust me. I have a hotel room. It's at least safe there."
I sighed and shook my head. The sun was already starting to dip. I hadn't found the time filly, I had narrowly escaped death, and I couldn't help but feel annoyed that my perfectly good morning had gone so wrong.
Man, who knew Ponyville was so dangerous?
"Your wing doesn't look too good. Let me patch that up for you!" I wasn't quick to turn her down as she pulled out a first-aid kit. I sat on one of the beds as she bandaged my broken wing. While she worked, she looked at me though the corner of her eye. "I... couldn't help but hear. You said you were looking for a time filly?"
I raised my eyebrows. "Yeah, actually."
The Pegasus fidgeted as she finished wrapping the bandage. "This glowing light called me a time filly."
I gaped, at her, and she giggled sheepishly. "I know I'm a timelord, but seriously, what's with the light?" She asked in a mix of confusion and dry humor. I looked her up and down, finally getting a good look at her. As I took in the Pegasus before me, I realized with a start that this was the closest and longest I had ever been with a filly.
Maybe I won't regret this. I looked away, hoping she wouldn't notice my growing blush.
"The name's Hope!" She told me in a cheerful tone.
"I'm Pez..." I told her. As I once again (rather bashfully) looked her over, I noticed a stone shaped like an hourglass pendant around her neck. "That's the stone of time," I blurted.
"Huh. That would explain the glowing it did." She remarked. As if on cue, it emitted a slight yellow glow. A dark cloud started to form in the sky outside. It was dark... like a void. Stop the darkness... A voice suddenly rasped. We exchanged panicked looks, then galloped to the window. Outside, the darkness was ready for a fight. I had no clue where this darkness came from.
Suddenly, without warning we both began to float. The stones emitted a super bright aura, then a bright crystal materialized between them. The crystal shone brightly, and began pulling the darkness towards it. The intimidating clouds seemed to be resisting, but they were no match. Soon enough, the darkness was gone... well not gone, but sealed away in a mysterious magical jewel. Good enough for now.
The crystal's light started to ebb away, and we floated back down (Hope grabbing on to me again, ensuring that I didn't just fall to my death). As we touched back down on to the floor, we giggled hysterically.
"We did it, Pez!" Hope cheered excitedly as she gave me a tackle hug. I would have blushed if I wasn't in excruciating pain.
"I guess we did!" I replied. "Now get off. My wing is still broken."
"Oh, sorry." She helped me up with an apologetic grin.
"It's fine." I told her. I considered telling her my feelings right then and there. How I felt so compatible with her, so perfect. But, I wasn't quite ready yet. So, I just gave her a smile. She smiled back.
I wonder what she is thinking about me.
