"I'm sorry. As of right now we cant explain it. We have been searching for others like you for fourteen years." If we haven't found it yet, it will take much longer to find someone who has a blood type like you." I nodded, not surprised. Ever since I was born I've had this, "Unique" blood type. The doctor said it has happened three other times in history. The scientists who study me say it is different then most people. Heck I even get superpowers, basically. Never once in my lifetime have I got a sun burn, but somehow I get all the vitamins from the sun. I'm also able to run faster then most people my age, which is cool. But for some reason, I get hungry for greens, some I don't even like. The doctors could never explain it. One thought something happened to my mom before I was born, another thinks it could be a link from older generations, but no record of my family having blood like me has been recorded. It had most scientists stumped. And when the news was released to the public when I was five, people went crazy about it. Some people on the internet thought I was an alien, another thought I was a superhero, another thought I was just plain weird. As cool as those two would be, I think the third one is true. "Mhm. yes, I understand." I turned to my mom, who was whispering something to my doctor. They both looked at me and nervously smiled. "Colby, can you lease step outside? I have to ask your mother a few simple questions.", my doctor said, keeping his sheepish smile. I raised an eyebrow. "Oh, okay?" I walked outside, and as soon as I did, the door slammed behind me, and I could hear my mom and dad talk with my doctor. I looked around, then placed my ear on the door. "About three months before Colby was born, I was driving through the woods." I blinked, in confusion. What was she talking about in there? "I saw a light on the cliff face, I thought it was a car that drove off, so I went and looked. As I looked down I saw a dark black-" Suddenly as I was listening, the obnoxiously loud phone in the waiting room of the doctors office started ringing, and muffled out whatever my mom was saying. About thirty seconds later, it stopped, and I could hear my mom again. "I slipped off the cliff in surprise, and the creature, it flew up at tackled me, then put me back to the cliff face. Then suddenly, it flashed a light from it's head on me, gently, then flew off, I couldn't see what it was, because it was so dark." My eyes widened, what could have she saw, and why did she not want me knowing about it? I shrugged it off. It could be anything. I only heard half the story, after all. A few minutes passed, and it was normal conversation. I heard my doctor say, "Well that was certainly interesting. Same time next year?" I knew they would come out, so I ran across the opposite wall of the hallway, and leaned on it, casually.
My parents and doctor walked out, like nothing had happened. "Come on Colby, lets go." My dad said casually, as they walked to the counter to schedule the next appointment. We soon left a minute after, and headed home. On the way I thought about the story. What was my mom talking about? I didn't think much about it before, but I was curious. When we pulled into the driveway, my parents headed in, and I followed behind them. I went straight to my room, greeting my dog, who has to sniff your leg whenever you go away. I hopped on my bed, and called my friend, Jonathan on Skype we have known each other for about six years, and pretty much are the best of friends. We are kind of lazy, especially since we live on the same street, but we usually play video games together, or sometimes go outside. I sometimes vote to go out, but we are usually equally lazy. "Hey Jonathan guess what?" I let him know pretty much everything I heard at the doctor, about the story of the black animal, creature, thing, but quietly so my parents didn't know I was listening in on them. "Weird." He told me, and I shrugged. After that we stuck to our schedule of playing Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, or any other basic games our cheap laptops can handle. Later, the time was about 9:00 at night. We played for about two hours. The sun was starting to set and I was about to have dinner. My mom called me right on time. "Hey, I'll be right back. I gotta eat." I set my laptop on my bed, and walked into the kitchen. "After this I'm heading to the cliff where I saw that, "Thing"." My mom saw me and immediately stopped the conversation with my dad, and started eating the pizza that was on the table. "What happened?", I asked her, knowing she was going to the cliff, which intrigued me. "Nothing, I just have to run an errand after dinner." She looked nervous, which made me really curious. I acted like I didn't care, which was the exact opposite, and sat down at the table. I ate one slice of pizza, and ran to my room with an idea. I whispered into the microphone of my laptop. "Heads up, I think we should spy on my mom." I said, quickly, getting my shoes on, which I took off right after I came home from the doctors office. "What?", Jonathan asked, confused. Meet me behind my car, and I'll explain there." "Fine." He sighed, and got up, headed to my house. " I closed the laptop, and ran through the kitchen again. I looked to my parents, and smiled awkwardly. "Hey I'm going over to Jonathan's for the night. That okay? They nodded, being I spend nights over there all the time when I'm bored. "Alright, you know the drill. Come home at nine thirty tomorrow. Got it?" My mom stared at me, expecting a yes. "Yep, pretty much the drill by now." I waved goodbye, and acted like I was heading home, but really I was meeting with Jonathan behind their car, as planned. "Why are we here?" The other fourteen year old stared at me, confused. "We are spying on my mom, she is going to that place I told you about earlier. "Why?", he said. "Because, if this was the reason I have the strange blood type, I am going to see how it happened." I replied. He sighed. "How do we, "Spy", on her if she is driving there?" I pointed at the trunk. "We are going to hide behind the back seats." I looked at me annoyed. "Can't you just do this alone?", he asked. "No! I need you to come! You can help me debunk this.", I told him, climbing in the trunk, quickly. "Colby I really don't think we should-" Before he could finish, I pulled him in and slammed the back door quietly. My mom was heading out to the car, and hopefully didn't see us. "Here we go. Hopefully I can get answers on why I have this weird blood." My mom started the car, and we ducked down, to avoid being spotted.
