//-------------------------------------------------------// Equestria's got Talent -by Scooter Dracon- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Flyer //-------------------------------------------------------// The Flyer "Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!" Sweetie Belle burst into the CMC clubhouse, a flyer of some sort in her hand. "What is it?" asked Scootaloo and Applebloom both at the same time. Sweetie Belle showed them the flyer. "Equestria's got Talent is coming to Canterlot High! This could be a huge opportunity for us!" Scootaloo jumped up in glee, though due to her leg disability, it wasn't that high. "Yes! I bet Rainbow Dash is going to be there and do something AWESOME!" "Maybe we could do something in it!" exclaimed Applebloom. "Yeah! That way, we could find out what our special talents are!" said Sweetie Belle. "But, what could we do?" inquired Scootaloo. They brainstormed what they could do together and came out with nothing. "I guess we don't have any talents that we share with each other," said Scootaloo. "Maybe what we should do is something by ourselves. Sweetie Belle has been taking voice lessons from Sunset Shimmer, and Scootaloo can ride around on her scooter really well especially since her last surgery," said Applebloom. "Yeah, I guess. Hey, when is this thing, anyway?" asked Scootaloo. Sweetie Belle picked up the flyer. "Next Tuesday after school. We have plenty of time to practice over the weekend." The other girls nodded and Applebloom checked the clock. "Wow, we've been here so long it's almost time for dinner. You two should get home." They packed up their things and went home. Sweetie Belle walked to the carousel boutique to meet up with Rarity. When she got there, she found her sewing her next line of clothing. When Sweetie walked in, Rarity did not look up from her work. "Ah, Sweetie Belle. I'm so glad you're here, could you get me some blue fabric?" Sweetie Belle grabbed a swathe of fabric from the racks. "Here you go, Rarity." Rarity looked at the fabric and said "No, Sweetie, that's aquamarine. I specifically asked for blue." "Aren't they the same thing?" "No. Aquamarine is more of a turquoise. I can't add that on this dress, as it will clash with the red." Sweetie looked at the dresses she was making. They were all red, white, and blue. "So, is patriotism in style this season, or something?" "Oh, no. I'm not selling these. These are for the band when we are playing for Equestria's Got Talent. Don't they look lovely?" "Yeah. Is this blue?" "No, Sweetie, that's navy blue. I need regular blue. Regular blue is three rows across, two shelves up." Sweetie Belle got the fabric and handed it to her sister. "So the Rainbooms are auditioning for Equestria's Got Talent?" "Well, of course! Well, except for Sunset Shimmer. She says that she would rather keep a low profile when it comes to media after what happened at the Fall Formal." Sweetie Belle could remember all too well. But she decided to shrug it off and went to the kitchen for something to eat. Her parents were always working late, so they couldn't make dinner all the time. She heated up a TV dinner and sat down in front of the TV. She turned it to Equestria's Got Talent, where a person named Noteworthy was singing. She watched, wondering what it would be like to be up on stage. But she had to stop daydreaming and look at reality. She sighed and took a bite of her mac and cheese. When she finished her meal, Sweetie Belle went up to her room to practice the songs for her voice lessons. Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue And the dreams that you dare dream really do come true Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow. Why, oh then why, can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly above the rainbow why, oh why, can't I? She closed her vocal lessons song book and put it in her backpack. When she looked at the clock, she found that it was time she started getting ready for bed. She took a shower, put her pajamas on, brushed her teeth, and climbed into bed with her retainer in her mouth. She then slept, dreaming of a grand stage. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Decision //-------------------------------------------------------// The Decision Sweetie Belle hadn't noticed Rarity listening in with her camera cell phone on, taking a video. When Sweetie was done with the song, she stopped recording and immediately sent it to Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and most importantly Sunset Shimmer. After about 3 minutes, she got a text back from Fluttershy. Fluttershy: Wow! I've heard her sing before, but not like that! Rarity responded immediately with fast fingers years' worth of experience. Rarity: I know, right? Who else thinks she should go on Equestria's got Talent? Pinkie Pie: Me! ME! Great singing! LOL Rainbow Dash: Probably not as awesome as me, but still pretty awesome Pinkie Pie: Go4it, Sweetie Belle! LOL Applejack: Applebucking astounding! Pinkie, why the hay do you always end your messages in LOL? Pinkie Pie: Element of Laughter! LOL Sunset Shimmer: I'll try to persuade her to go to the auditions. I really have faith in her talent. Rarity, satisfied, turned off her phone and raided the freezer for ice cream as she watched some TV. She pulled out her sketch pad where she drew dress designs and thought for a minute. Then she had it. Various shades of blue, pink, and yellow will definitely look nice. Oh, and a cute little headband to match! Hmm... Yes! Perfect! She sketched her idea on to paper and wasted no time in starting her next big project. That morning, Sweetie Belle got up, drowsy as always. She checked her alarm clock. It was 9:00 Saturday. Half awake, she got up and took her retainer out of her mouth and put it in its plastic case. She went to the kitchen for some breakfast, spotting Rarity asleep with yesterday's outfit on. Sweetie chuckled. She must have been up all night working on one of her "special projects". Sometimes her sister overworked herself. In the kitchen, she made herself a bowl of cereal and poured a glass of orange juice. After that, she went surfing on the internet before Rarity, after about an hour, had woken up. "Hey, Rarity," she said. "Good morning, Sweetie Belle," Rarity replied. Rarity helped herself to a fruit salad and some water. "So, Sweetie, have you been thinking about auditioning for Equestria's Got Talent?" "Actually, I have," she replied. "REALLY? Oh this is absolutely WONDERFUL news! I'll text all of my friends right away and-" Sweetie Belle cut her sister off. "It's nothing to get exited over. There's probably a hundred something kids wanting to audition. I don't really have that big of a chance in those circumstances. Even if I do have an 'amazing singing voice'." "That's why you really need to WOW the judges! And I have the perfect outfit for that! She ran to her room and pulled out the mannequin she had been sewing the dress onto. Sweetie Belle gasped. "You really did all this? For me?" The dress had a sky blue skirt with black music notes along the hem, which was decorated with lace. It had a yellow, silk sash and the top was tickle-me pink, so it would't blend with her hair. Its short sleeves ended with more music notes along the cuffs. It also had a matching yellow headband with a flower decoration on it. "Oh, thank you, Rarity! You're the best!" she said, hugging her sister. Rarity chuckled. "You better be! I spent all night working on this! Now, you can go back to the CMC clubhouse." Sweetie Belle rushed out the door, ready to tell her friends the great news. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Discovery //-------------------------------------------------------// The Discovery "You're really going to audition?" Applebloom asked Sweetie Belle excitedly. Sweetie Belle had just told her fellow Cutie Mark Crucaders that she would audition for Equestria's got Talent. Their reactions were so far good. "Yeah! Rarity even made me a special dress for it!" "Ooh! Here's an idea; maybe I could be your manager!" exclaimed Scootaloo. "Yeah! An' we could also be backup singers!" said an exited Applebloom. Sweetie Belle giggled "That would be great! But I haven't even auditioned yet!" "So, what song are ya gonna sing?" Applebloom asked. "I don't know yet. I'll probably talk to Sunset Shimmer about it," Sweetie replied. "Maybe you and Sunset can do a double act! You know how great she is at the guitar!" said Applebloom. "That's a great idea! I'll talk to her at my voice lesson." "So, you're really auditioning?" asked Sunset as she got some bottled water out of her fridge. "Yeah! I don't know what I'm going to sing yet, but Scootaloo and Applebloom said they would help me," replied Sweetie Belle. "You're really sure you want to do this? Once you make a commitment like this, there's no turning back." "I'm sure," Sweetie Belle said confidently. "Alright. So, what do you want to sing for the audition?" "I don't know yet. Do you have any ideas?" "You're pretty good at singing 'What a Wonderful World'." "Yeah. I really like that song!" "You know, you remind me of myself when I was your age." "Really?" "Yup. I was really passionate about mag- I mean- school. I wouldn't stop studying! But I didn't have something that you do." "What's that?" "Friends. I tried to make friends with a girl named Moondancer once, but we didn't really work out. It was because I didn't have friends that I eventually turned bad and- well, you know the rest. But you do have friends, and close ones at that. I think you're gonna really go far." "So, that's why you really want me to audition?" Sunset nodded. "I have faith in you. So, let's get to practicing!" "Bye, Sunset!" Sweetie Belle called as she walked out the door. "Don't forget to practice!" Sunset replied as she shut the door. Sweetie Belle walked to the clubhouse to find Scootaloo and Applebloom there, but there was two other girls outside. Two girls that Sweetie Belle knew all too well. "Hello, Diamond Tiara. Silver Spoon." "Well, if it isn't the other 'Cutie Mark Crusader'. I would've thought you'd have given up on those. Everyone knows there only for BABIES!" mocked Diamond Tiara. "Yeah. Babies," repeated Silver Spoon. "But cutie marks are real! And we're gonna get 'em!" Applebloom piped up from the porch. "Yeah. Sure," Diamond Tiara said. "Guys, just ignore them," Sweetie Belle said to her friends, who were both on the porch now. "Oh, we were just telling them about our awesome cheerleading routine for 'Equestria's got Talent'. We've been practicing for weeks." "Weeks? But the flyer was posted just days ago. How could you figure it out that they would be holding auditions at Canterlot High?" questioned Sweetie Belle. "Oh, Silver Spoon's daddy, being a rich musician, is being a judge! Our routine is sure to win!" "Now, that just ain't fair!" Applebloom exclaimed. "Right, Sweetie?" "Yeah! They shouldn't be allowed to audition with him as the judge!" Scootaloo said. "Diamond, Silver, why won't you just leave us alone?" Sweetie questioned. "Yeah. We're way to cool to hang out with you babies," Diamond Tiara said, flipping her hair as she turned away, sashaying out of the orchard. "Jerks," Scootaloo muttered. "Yeah. But now we know that they're entering, and that Silver Spoon's dad is a judge. But they didn't think of one thing," Sweetie Belle said. "Yeah?" asked Scootaloo and Applebloom. "Her dad is a musician. I'm auditioning by singing," said Sweetie Belle. "But he's still her dad," said Applebloom. "Well, we're just gonna have to work harder than them."
