Standing Stones- book 2 - Necklaces and Ink
"Hey Pez!" I heard a familiar filly's voice. It was Hope. We were walking to school together. "How is everything going?" The light brown Pegasus asked.
I shrugged. "It's going okay." She gave me that look she always gives me when she has a question. Not a normal question, but one of those questions you would ask if something was strange.
"Pez... I've been wondering... why do you always look at me like... that?" She asked me.
Oh no... she's onto me! I thought. Maybe I should tell her.
"Well... because, uh... never mind." I choked out nervously. Although clearly dissatisfied with my answer, she just shrugged it off, and we continued our trek to the school house. I hoped we weren't too late. If there is one thing I know about Hope, it's that she absolutely hates being late. I wonder how this will play out.
Hope's eyes widened as she saw that the school yard was empty, with all the other foals having filed in already. "Oh crap! We're late!" I sighed.
Shouldn't have jinxed it.
Hope grabbed my hoof and ran at full speed, dragging me to the school house where Miss Cheerilee was waiting. I don't know why she's so worried though! Miss Cheerilee isn't too strict. I guess that's just how Hope is... We arrived at the school which was full of fillies and colts. It was all part of the routine. Well, not on weekends, of course.
When we walked in it was quite a sight! Ponies were throwing books at each other like they always do. "Settle down, children!" Said Miss Cheerilee as she walked into the room.
"Nah. I'm good." I grinned, talking back to the teacher. The class found it funny... except for Miss Cheerilee (who sent me to the timeout chair). That's when I got the idea to show off! Everypony loves a class clown. "Hey! Miss Cheerlie! Yo mama so fat that when she sat on an iPhone it became an iPad!"
Some ponies found it funny.
"That's a bit mean-spirited," mumbled Scootaloo. I wasn't quite ready to give up yet! I picked up a straw and launched a spitball at Miss Cheerilee.
"Boring!" Diamond Tiara yawned dramatically.
"Pez, I'll be talking to you after class!" Miss Cheerlie stated, unimpressed. I decided I would try one last trick to make everypony happy. Scanning the room, I laid my eyes on the science materials left over from the previous day's lab. I picked up a glass bottle and smashed it on the ground. I don't know where I was going with that one. This bottle was full of a smelly, ink colored chemical. It got all over the fillies and colts in the class. They were not amused!
"It got all over my Scooter!" Scootaloo screeched angrily. Everypony else was complaining also.
"No! M-my necklace." Hope shuddered in distress. I felt my insides freeze. I hadn't meant to do that. That wasn't a good sign. After a few agonizing hours of glares and dirty comments, school was finally over.
I galloped to catch up to Hope, unhesitant to ignore Miss Cheerilee's orders. As I approached, I felt a lump in my throat. I knew I screwed up badly. There wasn't much I could do to fix it.
"I'll get you a new one." I told Hope. Maybe if I did this she would calm down.
"That was the only one in all of Equestria!" She snapped angrily. I was about to say something, but she interrupted. "Never talk to me again." I stopped in my tracks. Hope walked off, leaving me alone.
This was bad. I just had to make it up to her somehow! I had to right the wrongs I have done.
I walked into my house and looked for some things. "Hey Pez! Back from school?" Said a filly who looked almost like me. It was my twin sister, Minty. She was on her phone talking to her coltfriend, Blueblade. Ignoring her, I headed upstairs to find something to make her a new necklace with.
I found some beads and a string and a plastic heart. I got everything ready and started making the necklace. It was two hours later when I finished it. I headed out to go find Hope. It wasn't long before I found Hope under a tree near the edge of Ponyville with her face buried in her hooves.
"Hey..." It was all I could say at that moment.
"Go away, Pez..." She muttered, with a mixture of sadness and anger. I approached her and put my hoof on her shoulder.
"I am really sorry about the necklace..." I told her. Then I pulled out the necklace from my saddlebag. "I know it's not much but, I just needed to make it up to you..." I placed the necklace on her. She looked at the necklace, then back at me.
"Forgiven." She sighed, then she gave me a smile. "It's kind of hard staying mad at you... even though you're a bit of an idiot." She said teasingly as she hugged me. I wished that we could just sit here and embrace and never have to leave.
Alas, Hope drew away, scuffing the ground with her hoof awkwardly. "Well... I better get going." She said as she walked off to head home. I'm just glad that she isn't mad anymore. And in the back of my mind, I still don't know if I have a chance.
