It was just another day in Ponyville, the ponies were walking around town, the sky was clear and everything was peaceful. Our story starts with Twilight Sparkle, student of Celestia and bearer of the Element of Magic. Twilight was sitting in her home, the Golden Oaks Library, reading a book on forgotten magic, one chapter in particular caught her attention.
"Look at this Spike, long ago, certain pegasui could use the energy from the sun to increase their abilities and in rare cases use low level magic."
Her little assistant was busy reorganising the library's shelves. "Come on Twilight you can't really believe that can you? Who ever heard of a Pegasus using magic?"
"You forget Spike, this is a book on forgotten magic that hasn't been used in centuries."
When Spike jumped down from the ladder he was using he shook his head, he knew better than to get into a debate with Twilight. He was about to move to the next section when he burped up a scroll.
"Twilight, message from the princess."
Twilight dropped the book and took the scroll in her magic. "Thank you Spike." She undid the seal on the scroll and began reading.
Dear Twilight Sparkle
I am writing to inform you that a new pony will be moving into Ponyville, one which I happen to know quite well. I would like you to show him around the town and keep a close eye on him, he's not dangerous but is...different from other ponies. He can be a little antisocial but won't shy away from a conversation. Please make him feel welcome. In two days look out for a Pegasus stallion with a white coat and yellow and orange mane, you can't miss him.
Best wishes, Celestia.
"What's it say Twilight?"
"A new pony is moving into town Spike."
"Uh oh, we might have to keep Pinkie under control in case she scares them away."
"You're right Spike, we don't want him to be overwhelmed."
"'Him? Another guy is moving into town? Awesome!"
"What's wrong with mares?"
"Twi, there's only so much a guy can take before he needs some guy time, and with everything that goes on in this town, and I'm way over the line."
Meet Sunrise Dawn, just a stallion trying to live a normal life, although past experiences have made that hard. He never knew his parents and grew up in an orphanage until a certain sun goddess got him out of that hellhole. Since then she had raised him in secret, even from Twilight, she sent him to flight camp for awhile and he passed every flight test and exam with flying colours. When he graduated he returned to Canterlot, a few years later he moved out of the castle and bought a house in a town called Ponyville. He even found a way to earn bits, he would be a second weather pony for the town alongside a mare called Rainbow Dash, and apparently that payed really well.
Two days after Twilight had received that letter, Sunrise was on the train to Ponyville. He was in his booth with his bags looking out at the landscape, a few moments later Ponyville came into view. He checked over his bags to make sure everything was ready. "Well, this is it."
He threw on his bags as the train slowed down, when it arrived in the station he waited for the crowd to clear and began walking through town, he got a few friendly waves from passing ponies which put a smile on his face. He pulled out a piece of paper containing the details of his new home. "Ok, so I'm looking for number 35." He walked along the houses until he found his at the end of the street,Mir was a nice two story building with a small garden and it sat on a small hill with a river just flowing underneath the small bridge that lead to his path to the door. On the side of the path there was a sign with a sticker marked 'sold' on it.
He walked up to the door and pulled out his key, when he opened the door he found that the house had recently been cleaned and there was some furniture set up for him. "These ponies really are friendly aren't they?"
He sat down on one of the sofas and looked around the room, he spotted a few empty picture frames. He took out some photos and placed them in the frames. One of them showed him and hiss class at flight school, although that day they were one print short so he split the print with someone with his friends on one side and hers on the other. The next was a photo of him as a foal, curled up in the embrace of Celestia, a smile adorned his face at the memory. Celestia was like a mother to him, and he was like a son to her. The next was one of him meeting Luna for the first time, boy was that an awkward day. They eventually managed to get along and she slowly started to become like an aunt to him.
He remembers helping her to learn Morden language and culture. The next photo was of him, Celestia, Luna and princess Cadence, they had all gotten together for his twenty first birthday last week, only the princesses and bat ponies knew of his stay at the castle, he got along well with the night guard, they had plenty of sparing matches with them.
He was going to miss staying at the castle but he had to leave at some point, what better time to do that when he turned 21. He put up a few ornaments on his fireplace and walked around the house to check everything. Once he made sure everything was ok he set out to meet the mare that Celestia had told him about, she was going to be showing him around town. He had heard Celestia talk about her student quite a bit, he was always glad to here that a new spell was cast without any problems, as it put a smile on her face.
He made his way out of his home only to be facing a pink mare with a poofy mane. "Can I help you?"
"You're new to Ponyville right?"
"Yeah, just moved in this morning. I'm Sunrise Dawn, what's your name?"
"Oh, I'm Pinkie Pie, and if your new to Ponyville that means we have to throw you a 'welcome to Ponyville' party!"
"Um, Miss Pie, I'm afraid that I am not really comfortable with large crowds of ponies."
"Oh, well that's ok, I'll just keep it to a few ponies, ten max, alright?"
"That should be fine Miss Pie, where will it be held?"
"In the golden oaks library, that's where my friend Twilight lives."
"Oh, I'm actually looking for Miss Sparkle, could you show me where she is right now?"
"Okey-doki-loki, just follow me." She began hopping towards town hall with Sunrise in tow.
Yeah, I think I'm going to like it here.
