"Is she still in bed?"

Sonata Dusk looked up from her comic and stared at Aria. She was laying on the couch, staring straight at a cheesy monster movie playing on the screen. She had shown no signs of care in that question. Come to think of it, she had shown no signs of even moving in the past two hours. Sonata raised an eyebrow quizzically, leaning back in her chair to check down the hallway. "I think so, I wasn't paying attention."

"When do you ever pay attention?" Aria replied, scoffing.

Sonata snapped her head at the grumpy siren, staring her down. "I do pay attention! I told you I was going to read my comic, so I expected you to keep an eye out for her!"

Aria Blaze didn't even look at her friend, simply reading the end credits of the movie. She sat in patience for the next one. "It was a rhetorical question, Sonata."

"Instead of being the worst, why don't we go ask what's wrong?" Sonata frowned at the purple girl, putting her comic aside. The cheery siren got up, walked to the couch and snatched the remote. She pushed Aria off of herself when the girl tried getting it back. "We're going to go check on her, Aria. Let's go."

With an exaggerated groan, the mulberry siren got up from her couch dent and stretched. "Fine."

The two girls walked to the room furthest down the hall, Sonata almost violently knocking on the door. "DAGI ARE YOU IN THERE?!"

A loud groan and a sharp "No." was their reply.

"Good, then we don't need to comfort your sorry ass," Aria spoke up, crossing her arms.

A small click of the lock later, Adagio had flung open the door. The normally confident leading lady was not the one standing there. Adagio looked more like a child whose candy was taken from them by big bullies, or like a kicked puppy. She seemed scared, and that was definitely not like the pack leader they knew.

It was honestly scaring both the youngest sirens.

"Adagio? You don't look so good," Aria said with a hint of concern.

"I know. I haven't showered since my date with Spitfire. I'm not feeling it," came the disgruntled reply.

"But you shower, like every day!" Sonata gave her the cutest look of worry.

"I've been too busy thinking. Spitfire said some things that--"

"Did she break up with you? Because we'll break her," Aria asked, intimidation coating her words.

"No. Shut up and let me talk," Adagio rolled her eyes, continuing. "Spitfire said some things to me about our gems that got me thinking. We're not sirens in the Equestrian way. But, what if we still were sirens?"

The two girls blinked and exchanged looks. Sonata shrugged her shoulders in confusion. "We're not following you."

"I mean, we don't have the gems. They were one of a kind, irreplaceable. But maybe we don't need them to sing."

"Uh, kinda already tried that, Adagio," the purple siren gave her sour reply, rolling her eyes.

"Well, that was right after we were shot with magical energy, and we didn't try to keep harmony. Maybe we can unlock our power to entrance the people of this world with a little practice," Adagio gave them a grin.

"That sounds insane, but plausible..." Aria trailed off, thinking to herself.

"I say we try it!" Sonata chirped, waving her hand in the air.

There was a few moments of silence before Adagio heard what she wanted to hear.

"Fuck it, let's do it," Aria gave a slightly confident smirk, crossing her arms.

The three sirens walked into the Adagio's room, all standing how they used to months before.

The three struggled to adapt to the pitches, but soon began their signature mantra. They all found it to be surprisingly easy with effort, their voices nearly as hypnotizing as before.

"Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh,
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh,
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh,
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh.."

The three girls stood speechless, just staring at one another, amazed at the harmony they achieved with a little extra effort.

"What did I tell you?!" Adagio grinned, almost manic. "We've still got it, we can still be sirens!"

"But can we drain energy like we used to?" Aria asked bluntly.

"Who cares if we can't?! We can sing!" Sonata was so happy she was crying.

Adagio looked at her friends, motioning to Sonata. "For once, Sonata is right. Who cares? We have our voices, Aria! We can be sirens, again!"

Aria wanted to argue more, tell Adagio the whole point of sirens was to extract negative energy, but she hadn't ever seen her so happy since the Battle. The youngest siren just nodded and smiled.

"You should call Spitfire! Tell her the news!" Sonata beamed, but looked as the anxiety overtook Adagio's face.

"Spitfire.. call her? Why?" Adagio gulped audibly.

"Well, duh! To tell her the good news!"

"What news? I'm an energy-absorbing fish-pony from another world? I think she knows at least part of that."

"No, no! You don't say it like that! You have to break it to her slowly," Sonata explained. "I know! Aria and I will show you how to do it!"

"You will?" Adagio asked incredulously.

"We will?" Aria looked at her in surprise.

Sonata nodded happily, dragging them to her room. The sirens were hit with one color: pink. The wallpaper was a pale, powdery pink, and her bed seemed to be the same color as her high top boots. Stuffed animals, plushes, posters, and even pictures of her family scattered the walls. Some antique relics were there as well, Adagio recognized the Shakes Pierre skull from the original Hooflet play, also noticing Sonata's pet rock on her dresser. Adagio looked away from that gray pet, the only thing in the room not pink.

Sonata set up her tea party set she'd had for over sixty years, covering it with a cloth. She grabbed two cans of soda, pouring both into her tea pot. She grabbed a big plate of cookies and placed them in the center of the table. She walked to Aria with a whole new demeanor, one of almost a gentle formality.

"Pay attention Adagio," Sonata said with a smile, getting back into character. "Aria! You look amazing tonight, your hair is different. Did you try new clips?"

Aria stood puzzled for a minute, looking her up and down. "You're serious?"

"Of course I am! Shall we?" Sonata offered her hand, smiling at her younger friend.

"You are serious," Aria glanced at the hand, sighing and taking it, speaking enthusiastically. "Why thank you, Sonata."

"You're very welcome, Miss!" Sonata poured her a cup, giving her a few of the cookies.

Adagio was cringing like crazy, seeing her ages old friends acting like a couple just made her embarrassed to even LOOK at.

As Sonata continued her attempts to woo Aria, the younger siren got more and more uncomfortable and disinterested. This was not how she felt like spending her weekend. On an almost-date with Sonata. She only had one way out of this, playing along.

"I'm sorry, Sonata, but time seems to have caught up with us. I must get home before the strike of," Aria glanced at a fake watch on her wrist, "Now."

Sonata smiled, walking Aria back to Adagio. "And that's how you act like a gentlemare! Finally, you end the night on a high note!"

Before Aria could even react, Sonata planted a big, surprisingly passionate kiss right on her lips, effectively paling her otherwise dark purple complexion. She stood silently when Sonata pulled away.

"Like that! Just do that, and you'll be golden!" Sonata skipped out of her room and back down the hall to the living room.

Adagio stood speechless for a second before waving her hand in front of Aria's face, trying to bring her friend back to reality. "I'll.. I'll, uh, do that. Thanks Nata."

After a few minutes of the leader trying to revive Aria, she gave up and left the room to call her girlfriend. Aria came to her senses a few moments after Adagio had left, staring at the mirror across from herself. She saw blue lipstick coating her purple lips, lifting her hand to wipe some onto her finger. It all came crashing to her like a truck.

Sonata, the dumbass, had just practically made out with her.

And Aria had liked it.
