The school bells were ringing in the middle of a warm spring day, followed shortly by the happy laughter and clopping of hooves of the fillies and colts scrambling to recess. After the wave of young ponies dispersed onto the play ground, a trio followed. The trio consisted of the ever renown fillies of devious destructive dilemmas, Apple Bloom the yellow filly adorning a big red bow atop her red mane, sweetie belle the filly with a pristine opaque coat and a purple and pink striped mane, and finally Scootaloo the warm orange coated filly with short violet tomcolt mane. Each of the three specific fillies sport the locally designated slur, blank flank, due to the nature of not one of them having gained their cutie mark reflecting their special talent. Ironically, while finding your cutie mark is good thing, these three torment the peaceful town by their never ending line of shenanigans in attempts to figure out what each of theirs is. They have devoted their time to it enough that they agreed to use recess and after school free time to come up with plans for their next idea, properly labeled their crusades, thus entitling them, "the cutie mark crusaders".
As per usual, as they entered the play ground they were greeted by their annoying counter parts, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Diamond Tiara was the worst of the two and most likely the worst of the entire school, but Silver Spoon usually only tailed her and meekly agreed to what Diamond said, never really spitting insults. She was more a moral support for the bully than was a bully herself. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle paid her no mind but out of the two interrogators, Scootaloo paid more attention to the grey and silver pony than she did the loud mouthed pink pony. It was just something about that pony that drew her attention away from the gattling gun like line of slurs, whether it be how she wore the braid, or maybe the style of baby blue glasses she wore and how they natural complemented her born color. But no matter what it was, the sound of the blabbering bully was drowned out as she ogled the platinum pony. After a few minutes of slipping peaks at Silver Spoon when she was sure Silver wasn't paying attention, she was interrupted by a fellow crusader.
"Isn't that right scoots" Apple Bloom said proudly unknowing that Scootaloo had not paid attention. she looked at her with the confidence that she may have finally put Diamond Tiara in a corner and had her pinned with no hope for escape and cries of mercy falling on deaf ears.
"O-oh, yeah! that's right!" she managed to answer in time while even able to hide how unsure she was about her answer only enough to fool her audience. Diamond Tiara scrunched her muzzle up before turning around and stomping off angrily with a studious and silent Silver Spoon in tow.
"Finally, we were able to get her off of our tails so we can enjoy at least one day of recess of the year" Sweetie Belle said as she decided to sit down to relax on their one day of freedom from a relentless onslaught of cruel put downs. Scootaloo reveled in the moment that she accidentally secured a day of fun for her and her friends, but now that they have it, they have no clue what to do with it, mostly due to not having past experience on the matter at hoof. They sat on their haunches and examined the school ground and saw that majority of the student were chasing each other in an imaginary epic battle that if others saw what they had imagined, the would be in complete and utter awe. The rest of the ponies seemed to have crowded and controlled any available space on the play space which contained the slide and other activities that fillies and colts are supposed to be able to enjoy during their youth. They decided to go with the first idea and started running after a group of colts giggling as their battle and false death per-sued throughout the battle filled with imaginary super powers and over dramatized mourning of a laughing filly hero's lay unrealistically dead on the ground from being blasted by pure energy.
As they ran across the ground, Diamond Tiara watched cautiously, planning her next ruthless act that she would use against them. For some unknown reason, she picked on the crusaders more than she does the rest of the class, most believed it be the lack of cutie marks and others thought it was a secret undiscovered vendetta that may have happened as if they were friends before going into school and something horrible happened during the course of the relationship. She watched silently thinking of any scheme she could, hoping that eventually she would find something to bring complete and unrelenting anguish to Apple Bloom and her supporter, Scootaloo. Just as she was about to give up and return to the class for a earlier ending of recess, it clicked, it seemed that scootaloo payed more attention to the red maned farm filly than the rest of the group. She trotted up to the group and got their attention by clearing her throat as much as loud as she can without hurting herself.
"Ahem, Scootaloo, may i have a word?"
"Uuuuggghhh! what do you want, I thought we already told you off" Scootaloo groaned as she was already tired of her tormentors tactics
"I have some information that you may want hear but at the same time keep private" by this time she had adopted an evil grin before breathing on her hoof and proceeding to polish it on her coat.
"Alright, fine, just make it quick." With that, diamond tiara started her trot back to an unpopulated area and waited patiently as Scootaloo followed.
"Well as you asked, I'm gonna make this fast, I know your secret"
"Huh? what are you talking about?" she genuinely had no idea what diamond was talking about, putting her in a semi trance of bemusement trying to put together missing pieces of a puzzle.
"Oh don't play dumb with me blank flank, i seen how you watch blanky bloom over there"
"WHAT!?!?!?" she hollered loud enough to grab the attention of a group of other passer byes "What in tarterous are you talking about Tiara?"
"I'm talking about your little filly fooler crush" Scootaloo blushed furiously at the comment that was carelessly tossed in front of her.
"I am not a filly fooler, I'm just playing with one of my friends!"
"Of course you are, your rosy red cheeks just scream that"
"Shut up diamond! All I'm doing is enjoying the day away from you and here you are ruining it again like always, it's like that's all your all you're good at, maybe your cutie mark should have been a big fat pile of manure! You big fat mean piece of crap!" at this moment, Scootaloo snapped out of her rage induced stupor to find that the entire playground was staring directly at her, every mouth stood agape. she examined the crowed not noticing the irate Diamond Tiara approaching her. Scootaloo turned to Diamond Tiaras direction, only to have her head knocked back by the sudden impact of diamond tiaras hoof to her muzzle. The punch was hard enough to leave a cut in Scootaloos muzzle causing her mentally, but not in any way physically, to black out.
......."AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH-"
......."-ET THIS CRAZY PONY OFF OF M-"
......."SCOOTS PLEASE STOP!" that line was enough to bring her back to awareness. As she came to, she saw a battered and beaten Diamond Tiara laying on the floor shivering in fear, blood gushing from her snout and multiple other lacerations caused by Scootaloo's hoof. As she eased her attention away from diamond tiara, she was met with the terrified gazes of her class mates and two best friends that had replaces their look of bewilderment that she swore they were wearing just two seconds ago, one of which had a hoof on Scootaloo's shoulder, and who better to bring her to her senses than apple bloom herself.
"A-apple bloom? what happened, why is diamond tiara all beaten up?" it was time for a look of confusion to creep onto apple blooms face from her friends words rumbling in her head along with what she just saw happen.
"What do yah mean what happened? you happened scoots, you did this to her" taken back by apple blooms words she back peddled a few steps, after the words registered she took a peak at her own hoof, and sure enough it was covered in blood, certainly not her own
"OMIGOSH! Diamond, are you ok!?" She rushed to the pink fillies side and offered a hoof to diamond in order to help her up and carry her to the school nurse, even willing to take the punishment that may come. Diamond weakly and extremely hesitantly brought her own hoof to Scootaloos in what seemed to be acceptance in help, but as always, she had a trick to where she wouldn't go down alone. She pushed her hoof hard against the fur of scootaloos fore arm and jerked it downward expecting the orange filly to follow in tow, but instead, the fur and flesh ripped clean off of the meat and bone sending diamond tiara reeling back. Diamond rapidly shook her hoof to rid herself of the grotesque mass of her school mates skin and ran away off of the school grounds, tears streaming down her face in fear of what would happen to her once word of what just happen were to spread and eventually reach her parents. As she high tailed away, her companion silver spoon ran towards the orange injured filly who was screaming as she held the area just above where her skin was removed. Silver spoon forced Scootaloo on to her back and put on a full gallop to the nurses office.
