running from the unknown

As I soared through the sky scanning the thick Everfree forest below looking For any sign of disturbance.  My mind wondered just what we  were chasing we had been following it for four days and three nights.

It had taken a winding path all the way from the edge of the whitetail woods deep through the heart of the Everfree now near the southern end of the forest. We didn't even know what we were after.

Orders had come down from Celestia herself she said she had detected something in the in the whitetail woods she had given us orders to find it and kill it. Which was strange considering it was usually  Luna and her night guard who hunted down the monsters . It was also strange that that I hadn't seen  Any lunar guards during the night chases.

I was pulled from my thoughts when a flare went up about

Three miles away then a second a little to the southwest meaning the creature had change direction again, I headed off at top speed heading in the direction of the flares. After a while I had passed were the flare had went up and had spotted  a clearing with a  deep canyon running through it  with a fast moving river at the bottom, after looking at the canyon for few seconds  I then noticed the creature.

It was hairless with pale white skin that had been flushed red, the creature was on its knees head bent low, slowly the creature got to its feet  looked down the canyon walked about half way back to forest stopped turned around and  looked back at the forest behind it then looked at the forest across the gap and ran.

Seeing this I stopped  staring  and got to action  dropping as fast a I could I came up with a plan.

I didn't think I would make it before it jumped and I did not want to risk knocking it over the gap were if  I   couldn't stop  the thing it would probably get away. so I banked right then made a u turn so I was coming at it head on that when I hit I would knock it back across wear hopefully my comrades would soon arrive.  I watched as it jumped immediately I could tell I it was going to make and I would me it about halfway across. As I neared my target and folded my wings.

because of the angle of my approach It didn't see me until just before we hit It barely time for  the first flash of surprise to appear on it's face  before impact. When we hit I knocked it back across the gap when we hit the ground I lost my hold. And tumbled several times before I hit my head on a rock and blacked out.

Is that that all you remember ,yes princess, I keep my head down not daring to looker her in the eyes I might be a proud stallion but when princess Celestia looked at you and was obviously displeased it was quite Intimidating and made you hooves become very interesting. Very well private Rapid Mark, but Your highness I'm a sergeant, I do believe you mean you were a sergeant,  ye-yes princess : (
