Twilight shook her head and finished her spell and a moment later her friend was laying unconscious on the ground. "So is...is she ok now ?" asked applejack worrying about her pegasus friend. "Yes, she is she just needs a good night's rest and she should be fine in the morning," replied Twilight ," but I need to lay down as well this spell has taken out a lot out of me." "Well I'm glad to finally have my friend back." Rainbow said obviously happy that the whole problem is solved. The girls picked up the currently unconscious Fluttershy and carried her to her small cottage where her critters were waiting for their dinner. As they were passing Applejack's prized apple Twilight stared at it for a moment with a sudden craving for apples but she shook that thought away and thought Why do I have a craving for apples? I already ate my dinner before coming here. *** It was morning and Fluttershy was in her bed waking slowly smelling some vegetable stew and pancakes cooking. She yawned and got of the bed and Angel was there to say good morning and to get a hug. Flutters hugged Angel and said : "Good morning Angel how are you?" the white bunny just smiled back to her. She walked down to the kitchen to see Applejack and Pinkie cooking. "Oh good morning sugarcube," Applejack said while finishing the stew she was cooking, "me and Pinkie decided to make some breakfast since you were so exhausted after last night, I made some vegetable stew." "And I made PANCAKES" Pinkie said jumping up and down in her usual excited way. "Oh you shouldn't have bothered girls really I could have done something on my own." she was saying while holding her head putting bits and peaces of last night's memories together, clearly trying not to be rude although she wasn't rude at all. "well here we are anyways sugarcube." Applejack said bringing the stew to the table. The three mares sat down ready to talk about last night's events. After breakfast Pinkie and Applejack said their goodbyes and went back home, leaving Fluttershy alone home.I should give breakfast to all my lovely critters, she taught so she went to get the salads, nuts and other animal food."Here you go little ones ,"she said ,"I'm sorry Applejack and Pinkie had to feed you last night, I wasn't really myself yesterday."Her critters just gave her a forgiving smile and she smiled back at them relieved that they forgive her although there wasn't to much harm done. When she was done she went out to town to visit her friends and to restock on animal food and maybe buy some fruit for herself. she closed the door behind her and trotted along the dirt path to town. She was passing an apple tree when she felt a slight pang in her stomach I wonder what that was? *** Twilight was just reading a book while eating her breakfast when spike asked her "What are you reading there Twi?" "I'm reading up on mythical creatures like marewolves ,vamponys and things like that," she answered ,"I'm curious about what happened to poor Fluttershy last night, I want to know what specifically went wrong with my spell." "oh, OK I will sort up those books you told me needed a place on the bookshelf. " Twilight nodded and continued reading her book. She found a section about vampire fruit batponies spreading their curse, the book said :Fruit batponies can spread their curse although it is unknown how because it can depend on the pony in question but it is mostly spread magically after reading that she wondered how exactly was it spread magically. She was done with her oats so she closed her book and went out to the market. Twilight was walking through the Ponyville town square when she saw a familiar yellow pegasus going to the market so she sprinted to catch up to her friend. "Hey Fluttershy," she shouted ,"wait for me!" the mare turned around to see her friend running towards her and for some reason she was glad to see her there. "Oh hello Twilight what are you doing here?" she asked. "I'm here to buy some fruit Fluttershy maybe some apples." Twilight answered. "Me to, but I also need some food for my critters." said the timid mare. They both went to buy their food but both had a funny feeling when they were passing buy the apple stand, some sort of an attraction to it. Those apples sure do look delicious... both of them thought. Both mares shook of that feeling and continued what they were here for. Upon exiting the market they were both carrying a dozen bagged apples but Flutters was also carrying a bunch of animal foods. "So that was nice." said the yellow mare. "Yes it was ," replied the lavander unicorn ;"but I do not know why I bought apples ,I just felt like eating some." "Yes me to I don't know why I did either I just felt like eating some today..." With that they both walked home. Chapter 1: The Beginning Of a ChangeIt was early morning , 7.30 to be specific and Twilight was waking up, she always was an early riser.She pulled of the purple blankets covering her and got of her bed and went to the bathroom to clean herself up.The purple unicorn looked herself in the mirror and saw the horrible mess her mane was Oh wow my mane is a real mess I can't go out looking like this! she thought and grabbed the comb, combed her mane and proceeded to wash her face.When she was done she called Spike : "Spiiike! What do we have on today's Checklist?" Spike, who was currently sorting some books in the History of magic section when he heard his friend calling.He picked up the checkilst and ran straight to his and Twilight's room. "Well we have to : Reshelf the History of magic section and the Application of magic throughout history section and I already started on the Former,next we have to pick up a batch of cupcakes from the Sugarcube Corner, Deliver the Maths basics to Cheerilee and finally help Applejack deliver some apple baskets to Filthy Rich for his garden party, oh and he asked Pinkie to plan this one for a change". Twilight nodded and Said : "Okay I will sort the application of magic right away so we can get those cupcakes quickly, I am really hungry and we don't have any food left in the kitchen." She went to the shelf that needed sorting and picked up some books with her magic.Let's see "The illusonist of the school for the gifted unicorns" and "The invisible wizard" go to the second shelf and "The mages' wards" goes to the fourth one... *** 1 hour later... "Ok Spike I'm done with the sorting are you done?" Twilight asked her assistant.Spike answered : "Yes I have finished 20 minuttes ago I was getting bored." "Well...you started early!" She said."Okay, okay calm down it wasn't a competition Twilight, come on let's get to the Sugarcube Corner I am SO hungry right now." The purple mare nodded beeing hungry herself and said "Yes, I am to let's go." Mmmm I could buy those apple muffins she tought and with that they exited the library, and went towards The Sugarcube Corner. *** Fluttershy woke up in her cozy bed and looked at the clock on the wall, it said 7.00 am 7 am, right on time to feed all the little critters she thought and immediately went to brush her mane.Grabbing the brush with her mouth, she brushed her mane into her usual long manestyle and smiling happily went to feed her critters. 20 minutes later "Ok and now for my breakfast..." she said quietly and walked to the kitchen Know, what to make for my breakfast?Let's see what I have. She thought and opened her cupboard only to see a lonely loaf of bread laying in there. "Oh my where did all of the food go?Did I really buy food for the animals but forget to buy my own?Well I did buy some apples but I ate them all." Could it be that.. no Twilight fixed that with her spell I am just imagining things. and with that she continued with her duties. *** Twilight Sparkle was walking Through Ponyvile, with Sugarcube Corner beeing her goal and Spike following right behind her.They were walking by the market when Twilight saw Applejack by her apple stand when she felt the tiny urge to eat one of the juicy, red apples, but that urge was silenced by the rest of her brain. Applejack saw Twilight and decided to say hello."Hello Twi' how you doin'?" she called to her purple friend.Twilight heard her and responded : "Fine Applejack, I'm just on my way to Sugarcube Corner." "Oh great , You still comin' to help me with those apples?" she asked."Of Course I am AJ I will be there right after I bring a book to Cheerilee." Applejack nodded with a smile and said "Ok sugarcube see ya later." Twilight waved goodbye and continued to her goal. The librarian and the dragon were walking down the street when they finally saw their destination.They walked in to see Pinkie pie busy at the counter handing out the sugary treats."Thank you and come again!", Pinkie said just before noticing Twilight walking up to her , "Oh hi Twilight I have those cupcakes you asked for." "Thanks Pinkie here are the bits." said Twilight while giving the party pony the bits.Those apple pies look tasty... she thought but immediately shook that off knowing that she mustn't spoil her lunch. "Thank you again Pinkie, see you later." She exited the bakery and was about to go to the school but she saw what time it was and panicked : "Oh no I am going to be late at the farm! Spike would you be so kind and give this book to Cheerilee, I have to go to the farm to help Applejack." "Sure Twilight but can I stop at Rarity's later?" he asked "Of course Spike have fun!" she smiled and ran to the farm. *** Meanwhile at Fluttershy's cottage Our timid pegasus was trotting happily along the road when she saw her lavander friend running towards the farm. "Hey, Twilight wait!" she called out. Twilight seemed to notice her and slowed down "Oh hi Fluttershy, I can't really talk right now I am late to help Applejack help with the party delivery." "Really? Could I join you I am done for today and don't have anything else to do." she asked being done with her chores and having nothing interesting to do today. "Sure, the more of us the quicker we will be done!" Twilight said. Fluttershy smiled and they both hurried to the farm. Sweetapple Acers in sight, the pair saw their farmpony friend bucking an apple tree. "Hi Twilight! Hi Fluttershy, you here to help to? " she asked. " Well I didn't have anything else to so i would like to help... if you don't mind that is." replied Fluttershy. " Of course you can help the more the merrier!" ,said Applejack and smiled, "Here you each take a pair of baskets and lets go:" and with that they went with their jobs. A delivery later... " Well that went well " said Twilight. " Yes it did Twi, I sure hope those don't spit on our apples just because earth ponies made m' " worried the farmpony. " Well knowing them, somebody will but who knows you might get some new customers! " Said Twilight, visibly comforting her friend. " Well see ya later girls I have some things to do, here grab an apple each. " said Applejack handing some apples to her friends. "Awww thanks AJ see you later! " replied Twilight and Fluttershy in unison. They parted ways , Applejack going back to her farm and Twilight and her timid friend walking on the road back to the town. They immediately took a bite each of their apples enjoying their wonderful taste. Twilight thought that a bit odd but seeing her pegasus friend do the same, she shook the suspicion off, but what she didn't know is that Fluttershy was making a fruitbat relapse and Twilight was joining her on the soon to be apple massacre. They continued with their meal unaware of the dangers ahead. Chapter 2: Hospital Visit The morning after she did her deliveries and helped Applejack with Flutterhsy's help Twilight was suffering from a slight headache. Her number 1 assistant made her a special breakfast, some pancakes with chocolate syrup while constantly repeating that food is always the best medicine. She thought that was silly so she took some pills to help make the terrible headache go away, but Spike did not know that so he just smiled with the 'told you so' grin when the pain went away not knowing about the little medicine that she took. Twilight wasn't particularly amused by what he thought was his victory as she had way too much to think about at the moment, but she didn't want to hurt his feeling because she knew he meant well. She finished the delicious breakfast she was given and decided that she would go and see the doctor about her headache. It's probably nothing but I should make sure I am not sick, better safe than sorry after all. she thought, wanting to be able to make a schedule right away if she was sick, being organized was important to her after all. She closed the door and went towards the Ponyville hospital for a checkup, which she had to do soon anyways. On the twenty-third this month if my calendar is correct. she smiled at her thought and how much simpler things were because of her organized nature. While she was walking through the town she saw Berry Punch, who had a bandaged hoof. At that moment Twilight had an idea in her head: Well I could ask her if she is planing on visiting the hospital, at least I will have someone to talk to on the way, maybe my time time will pass quicker and the hospital won't be as boring as it can be when you are alone there for a checkup. "Hi Berry why is your hoof bandaged?" Twilight asked. "Oh hello there Twilight." answered Berry Punch. "Just a drunk stallion who thought he was too good to pay up, I swear that there should be a law limiting how much alcohol a pony can be served at a bar." Twilight felt sad for Berry Punch, running a bar can be dangerous at times, especially when there is a celebration in town and lots of ponies go to have a bit of fun in the bars at night and while drunk, they just can't think clearly and do something stupid to themselves or others. That was only a small part of night life because most are smart enough to be careful and have a good time. "Are you planning on visiting the hospital by any chance? I am on my way now and could use some company." she asked her with hope that she would say yes. "Actually I was thinking to go later today but it would be so much more fun with somepony else to talk to." Berry said smiling at Twilight. Great! This will be easier now and I can catch up with her a bit. We haven't talked much recently. Twilight thought happily. "Great! we can catch up a bit while we walk if you want." said Twilight and Berry answered to her with a question of her own: "I'd like that, we have not been talking recently. So Twilight tell me, what got you so occupied that you were in that library of yours for so long.". Twilight thought for a second, as the question reminded her that she has been spending more time in the comfort and silence of her home than usual. Well I have been busy with my research on the whole event with the Flutterbat incident, as Rarity called it and besides it is so nice in there. "Oh you know, just research." she said. "Oh Twilight that's just like you isn't it, always working on a project." Berry teased a bit and Twilight blushed to her comment. "Well I am just looking into things." she tried to excuse herself but she found a way to escape further embarrassment as they reached the hospital. "Oh we are here already here, time sure flies when you're talking." she said trying to change the topic but to no avail as Berry Punch was still grinning devilishly. "Yes, yes it does Twilight." was the only thing she said before they reached multiple doors leading into different wings of the hospital. "Well i guess this is where we split, I am going to the neurology wing to try to fix the headache I've been having and I am positive you are just here for the doctors to take a look at your wound, I wish you luck Berry." Twilight said before turning to the door. "Thanks I wish you luck too." Berry said and waved goodbye to Twilight who waved back. *** So off to finally fix this horrible headache! thought Twilight frustrated that she was behind on her schedule and wasting precious time to something that might be just a fake concern. She reached doctor Neuron's door and as there was nobody waiting, she knocked on the door. "Come in." she heard the doctor saying. She opened the door and greeted the doctor: "hello doctor Neuron I was hoping you could fix a problem I've been having the last couple of days." To that doctor Neuron chuckled and said: "Well of course Twilight that is my job after all.". He leaned back on his chair and asked: "So tell me miss Sparkle, what is the problem?". "Well I've been having a terrible headache for the couple of days and it is really getting in the way in my research". she answered the question. Doctor Neuron put on a more serious face and said: "I see, well I will perform a simple scanning spell so we can see what is happening with that big brain of yours.". Twilight blushed a bit at the compliment an answered: "Okay doctor let's do it." "Okay, this won't hurt a bit." the doctor said and started the spell. After a couple of seconds the spell finished and the doctor smiled and said: "Well Twilight you definitely showing some sings of a slight problem , but don't worry you are only exhausted. You need a break from work and a good night's rest." Twilight smiled a bit, relieved that she wasn't sick and answered grinning: "Ok doctor I will and thank you very muchfor your help." "I am just doing my job Twilight." he smiled. These sort of things made him happy to be a doctor. Chapter 3: A Bite To RememberTwilight was on her way back to the library when she suddenly realized that she was slightly hungry, luckily she brought an apple with her for that exact reason, although she didn't know why she brought an apple when it could have been something more filling like a sandwich. Deciding not to worry about that she continued to a little spot near Fluttershy's house where she liked to relax and read sometimes. She reached her destination and just took in the beauty of the place, It was a cliff not to far of the ground making it relatively safe to be at, it also had a large, old oak tree casting a shadow over the area and providing a nice spot to lay on. It offered an amazing view on the fields blooming with flowers and forests rich with wildlife, you could even see a small river coming out of the forest and flowing through the field. It was simply breathtaking and even better at sunsets when the sun shined the last of its rays for the day and setting below the horizon. The purple unicorn took out the apple and bit into it, the apple tasted amazing, like never before and for some reason she wanted more, much more. This is amazing! I need some more but where can I find some? she wondered fore a minute before it dawned on her, Of course Fluttershy should have some, we went to the market together after all. Right now, Twilight was too far gone into her transformation into a Fruit batpony to think clearly or rationally and the only thoughts she was having were about the sweat taste of the apple she ate and her soon to be feast. She was now nearing Fluttershy's cottage and she was truely excited because she could see the enternace to it, she was so close now and she could almost taste the apples at that moment. Now in fornt of the door she knocked on the door and asked : "Fluttershy are you in there?" She noticed that the door was unlocked and pushed it open and she saw something that would make her run faster than Rainbow Dash, if she wasn't in the middle of her transformation, she saw Fluttershy only she had bat wings and a tuft of fur on each of her ears. The Flutterbat was too busy devouring an apple to notice her friend in the house. Twilight was about to go to her when something caught her interest, the sweet taste of apples that her mouth watered to every time she thought of them, she also noticed an apple just laying on the table and a step by step she was moving to it. The entire time she didn't take her eyes of it and din't realise she was drooling, in a matter of seconds she was there and after a brief moment of hesitation she bit into it. Her mind exploded at the taste in her mouth finally trigering her transformation. Her head was in a pain as her horn was pushed back into her skull and the feathers on her wings started to fall off, revealing the newly formed bat wings on the place there were normal, pegasus wings until recently. Finishing her transormation, her ears now had a small tuft of fur on her ears and long fangs peeknig from her mouth. The newly transformed Twilight picked up the apple that had fallen from her hoof while she was transforming and bit into it as hard as she could, sucking all the sweet nectar out of it leaving it an empty husk. Flutterbat finally turned around and her eyes went wide when she saw who was standing there and more importantly, how she looked like. She immidiately backed up a little, as she hasn't quite determined whether Twibat was a threat or not and hissed, Twibat mimicked her action. Somethnig was telling her that she knows that fruit batpony, that she was friendly. She hissed again asking the other fruit batpony if she was friendly and Twibat hissed back, confirming her firendly intentions because she knew as well that the other one was a friend. Acting on instinct Flutterbat offered half of her apple stash, which was an instinctive act of forming a bond between two mutualy friendly fruit batponies, creating a fruit batpony version of a coven. Naturally Twibat took the offer as she was hungry from her recent transformation. Twibat hissed at Flutterbat asking where shall their residence be and Flutterbat sugested the building they were at the moment as it was a location distant from the town, near the Everfree forest which could provide an escape route in a case of emergency plus it was near a food source, the Sweet Apple Acres. Twibat immediately agreed as the location seemed nearly perfect and both of them continued to suck their precious apples dry. After they finnished their meal they agreed to scout out the local area to form an idea where they could reside, which places should be avoided and where they could move if needed. After a couple of sweeps through the area they had a general idea of the area: there were some caves nearby which could serve as hideouts in times of need, the forest was huge and definetly a place they should explore more thoroughly in the future and possibly even move there as it was thick and secure, there was also the town that was to be avoided at all times because it was filled of regular ponies. The night was nearing its end and the two fruit batponies were tired, they hung themselves upside down with their tails tied upon whatever pole they could find. Upon tying their tails they wraped their wings around them to keep themselves warm. As the first rays of sunlight began to shine upon the land, the two fruit batponies were resting peacefully in the small cottage near the Everfree without knowing of the threats to their existence that are soon to come. Chapter 4: The Birth Of a CovenIn the morning after the coven was founded Spike woke up as he would on any other day. He rose out of his basket and yawned, he still hadn’t awoken completely. He turned his head to face Twilight only to realise Twilight wasn’t there. He wondered where she was. Thinking back to yesterday’s chores, he remembered that the last place Twilight had gone to was to the hospital and she didn’t come back at all that afternoon. It was late when he had decided that he would go to bed. He figured that she just had to wait a long time at the hospital so she had to stay out longer in order to finish all the things she had on her checklist. He couldn’t figure out why she wouldn’t come home after that. It’s not that the hospital was far away, it was fifteen minutes on hoof away tops. He was going to go to her friends and ask if they know anything. Maybe she slept over at one of their homes for some reason. First, however, he was going to have his breakfast. There wasn’t anything dangerous that could have happened to her. After all, Ponyville wasn’t that big and somepony would have heard if something happened. About twenty minutes later… Spike had just finished his relatively small breakfast that consisted of a bowl of cereal and a gem or two. The first pony he was going to visit was Rarity. He was hoping that she would help him in his search for Twilight. If he was lucky she would and he would get to spend some time with her. He was now at The Carousel Boutique and knocked on the door and soon he heard her voice. “Who is it?” She asked. “It’s Spike,” he answered. “Oh, give me a moment dear,” she said. The door to the boutique soon opened and revealed the marshmallow coloured pony. “what can I do for you darling?” “Well, Twilight hasn’t come back last night and I was wondering if she stayed over with you or if you knew anything,” he asked nervously. “I am afraid that I do not know anything dear. I could help you look for her if you want,” she said with a charming smile. “That would be great!” he said. He was excited that he would get to spend some time with her again, even if it was spent searching for Twilight. “Excellent! We should split up and go ask the rest of the girls if they have seen her. I will get Pinkie and Rainbow Dash and you can get Applejack or Fluttershy. We will meet at the library after we are done in order to decide what we should do next.” Spike was now a bit disappointed that he wouldn’t spend time with Rarity alone after all. “Ok, see you soon then,” he said and went to the orchard. About an hour later Spike and Applejack were on their way toward Fluttershy’s cottage when they heard somepony yelling. “Hey wait up guys,” called the voice. Spike and Applejack turned around and saw Rainbow Dash. “Oh howdy Rainbow,” greeted Applejack “Weren’t we supposed to meet at the library?” Asked Spike “Rarity explained everything to us and since we were done I suggested that we catch up with you guys so we can find Twilight faster,” answered Rainbow Dash. “That’s all fine and dandy but you really didn’t have to do that. It aint gonna make us get Fluttershy any faster,” said Applejack. “Well we are here so we might as well all go together dear,” said Rarity. Applejack just nodded and they all walked to the shy pegasus’s home with the exception of Pinkie who was bouncing. Fluttershy’s cottage was finally in sight and the group of ponies stopped in front of the door. Spike took a step closer to the door and knocked. “Fluttershy are you in there,” he asked, “We need to talk to you it’s really important.” “Come in,” she said calmly. The group walked in the timid mare’s home and saw her sitting on her couch, but she was not the only pony on it. The other pony was Twilight and she was wrapped in a blanket and was occupied with a cup of warm tea. That sight seemed to calm down the others but it also sparked worry and curiosity. “Twilight you are all right!” exclaimed Spike in relief and joy. “We were all very worried about you dear,” said Rarity. Twilight seemed surprised for a second before she decided to respond. “Oh you shouldn’t have been worried about me. What was the worst thing that could have happened to me? Still, thank you for being such good friends,” said Twilight. “It was Spike who organized the whole thing. When he noticed that you were gone he went to ask us for help. We only volunteered to help him look for you,” said Rarity. Spike seemed to beam with pride and joy for the praise he was getting from his crush. “Could ya tell us why ya didn’t come home last night Twi?” asked Applejack. Fluttershy decided to join the conversation at that. “Well, I found her unconscious on the grass near the road. I tried to wake her up but when she didn’t respond I carried her to my cottage so I could check if she was ok. I know I should have gotten somepony to help but I was just so worried about her that I couldn’t think clearly,” explained Fluttershy with a tone that radiated regret. “Aww that’s okay Fluttershy you were super duper scared and did what what you thought was the best thing to do. We can’t blame you for that,” said Pinkie in an effort to comfort one of her many friends. “That is very nice of you to say Pinkie,” said Fluttershy Twilight of course knew that everything Fluttershy had just said was a pure lie. They made up the story immediately after they had woken up. They knew that their friends would come looking for Twilight after she didn’t return. She was pleased that they have bought the story. “I think I will stay here a little while longer girls. I still haven’t recovered completely. I do not even know why I passed out so I will try to figure that part out.” “Ok Twilight just don’t over do it like you usually do and come back this time,” said Spike with a small smile. The group left the cottage and while they were leaving the two batponies grinned evilly at their success at fooling their friends.

She yawned and got of the bed and Angel was there to say good morning and to get a hug. Flutters hugged Angel and said : "Good morning Angel how are you?" the white bunny just smiled back to her. She walked down to the kitchen to see Applejack and Pinkie cooking. "Oh good morning sugarcube," Applejack said while finishing the stew she was cooking, "me and Pinkie decided to make some breakfast since you were so exhausted after last night, I made some vegetable stew." "And I made PANCAKES" Pinkie said jumping up and down in her usual excited way. "Oh you shouldn't have bothered girls really I could have done something on my own." she was saying while holding her head putting bits and peaces of last night's memories together, clearly trying not to be rude although she wasn't rude at all. "well here we are anyways sugarcube." Applejack said bringing the stew to the table. The three mares sat down ready to talk about last night's events. After breakfast Pinkie and Applejack said their goodbyes and went back home, leaving Fluttershy alone home.I should give breakfast to all my lovely critters, she taught so she went to get the salads, nuts and other animal food."Here you go little ones ,"she said ,"I'm sorry Applejack and Pinkie had to feed you last night, I wasn't really myself yesterday."Her critters just gave her a forgiving smile and she smiled back at them relieved that they forgive her although there wasn't to much harm done. When she was done she went out to town to visit her friends and to restock on animal food and maybe buy some fruit for herself. she closed the door behind her and trotted along the dirt path to town. She was passing an apple tree when she felt a slight pang in her stomach I wonder what that was? *** Twilight was just reading a book while eating her breakfast when spike asked her "What are you reading there Twi?" "I'm reading up on mythical creatures like marewolves ,vamponys and things like that," she answered ,"I'm curious about what happened to poor Fluttershy last night, I want to know what specifically went wrong with my spell." "oh, OK I will sort up those books you told me needed a place on the bookshelf. " Twilight nodded and continued reading her book. She found a section about vampire fruit batponies spreading their curse, the book said :Fruit batponies can spread their curse although it is unknown how because it can depend on the pony in question but it is mostly spread magically after reading that she wondered how exactly was it spread magically. She was done with her oats so she closed her book and went out to the market. Twilight was walking through the Ponyville town square when she saw a familiar yellow pegasus going to the market so she sprinted to catch up to her friend. "Hey Fluttershy," she shouted ,"wait for me!" the mare turned around to see her friend running towards her and for some reason she was glad to see her there. "Oh hello Twilight what are you doing here?" she asked. "I'm here to buy some fruit Fluttershy maybe some apples." Twilight answered. "Me to, but I also need some food for my critters." said the timid mare. They both went to buy their food but both had a funny feeling when they were passing buy the apple stand, some sort of an attraction to it. Those apples sure do look delicious... both of them thought. Both mares shook of that feeling and continued what they were here for. Upon exiting the market they were both carrying a dozen bagged apples but Flutters was also carrying a bunch of animal foods. "So that was nice." said the yellow mare. "Yes it was ," replied the lavander unicorn ;"but I do not know why I bought apples ,I just felt like eating some." "Yes me to I don't know why I did either I just felt like eating some today..." With that they both walked home.
Chapter 1: The Beginning Of a ChangeIt was early morning , 7.30 to be specific and Twilight was waking up, she always was an early riser.She pulled of the purple blankets covering her and got of her bed and went to the bathroom to clean herself up.The purple unicorn looked herself in the mirror and saw the horrible mess her mane was Oh wow my mane is a real mess I can't go out looking like this! she thought and grabbed the comb, combed her mane and proceeded to wash her face.When she was done she called Spike : "Spiiike! What do we have on today's Checklist?" Spike, who was currently sorting some books in the History of magic section when he heard his friend calling.He picked up the checkilst and ran straight to his and Twilight's room. "Well we have to : Reshelf the History of magic section and the Application of magic throughout history section and I already started on the Former,next we have to pick up a batch of cupcakes from the Sugarcube Corner, Deliver the Maths basics to Cheerilee and finally help Applejack deliver some apple baskets to Filthy Rich for his garden party, oh and he asked Pinkie to plan this one for a change". Twilight nodded and Said : "Okay I will sort the application of magic right away so we can get those cupcakes quickly, I am really hungry and we don't have any food left in the kitchen." She went to the shelf that needed sorting and picked up some books with her magic.Let's see "The illusonist of the school for the gifted unicorns" and "The invisible wizard" go to the second shelf and "The mages' wards" goes to the fourth one... *** 1 hour later... "Ok Spike I'm done with the sorting are you done?" Twilight asked her assistant.Spike answered : "Yes I have finished 20 minuttes ago I was getting bored." "Well...you started early!" She said."Okay, okay calm down it wasn't a competition Twilight, come on let's get to the Sugarcube Corner I am SO hungry right now." The purple mare nodded beeing hungry herself and said "Yes, I am to let's go." Mmmm I could buy those apple muffins she tought and with that they exited the library, and went towards The Sugarcube Corner. *** Fluttershy woke up in her cozy bed and looked at the clock on the wall, it said 7.00 am 7 am, right on time to feed all the little critters she thought and immediately went to brush her mane.Grabbing the brush with her mouth, she brushed her mane into her usual long manestyle and smiling happily went to feed her critters. 20 minutes later "Ok and now for my breakfast..." she said quietly and walked to the kitchen Know, what to make for my breakfast?Let's see what I have. She thought and opened her cupboard only to see a lonely loaf of bread laying in there. "Oh my where did all of the food go?Did I really buy food for the animals but forget to buy my own?Well I did buy some apples but I ate them all." Could it be that.. no Twilight fixed that with her spell I am just imagining things. and with that she continued with her duties. *** Twilight Sparkle was walking Through Ponyvile, with Sugarcube Corner beeing her goal and Spike following right behind her.They were walking by the market when Twilight saw Applejack by her apple stand when she felt the tiny urge to eat one of the juicy, red apples, but that urge was silenced by the rest of her brain. Applejack saw Twilight and decided to say hello."Hello Twi' how you doin'?" she called to her purple friend.Twilight heard her and responded : "Fine Applejack, I'm just on my way to Sugarcube Corner." "Oh great , You still comin' to help me with those apples?" she asked."Of Course I am AJ I will be there right after I bring a book to Cheerilee." Applejack nodded with a smile and said "Ok sugarcube see ya later." Twilight waved goodbye and continued to her goal. The librarian and the dragon were walking down the street when they finally saw their destination.They walked in to see Pinkie pie busy at the counter handing out the sugary treats."Thank you and come again!", Pinkie said just before noticing Twilight walking up to her , "Oh hi Twilight I have those cupcakes you asked for." "Thanks Pinkie here are the bits." said Twilight while giving the party pony the bits.Those apple pies look tasty... she thought but immediately shook that off knowing that she mustn't spoil her lunch. "Thank you again Pinkie, see you later." She exited the bakery and was about to go to the school but she saw what time it was and panicked : "Oh no I am going to be late at the farm! Spike would you be so kind and give this book to Cheerilee, I have to go to the farm to help Applejack." "Sure Twilight but can I stop at Rarity's later?" he asked "Of course Spike have fun!" she smiled and ran to the farm. *** Meanwhile at Fluttershy's cottage Our timid pegasus was trotting happily along the road when she saw her lavander friend running towards the farm. "Hey, Twilight wait!" she called out. Twilight seemed to notice her and slowed down "Oh hi Fluttershy, I can't really talk right now I am late to help Applejack help with the party delivery." "Really? Could I join you I am done for today and don't have anything else to do." she asked being done with her chores and having nothing interesting to do today. "Sure, the more of us the quicker we will be done!" Twilight said. Fluttershy smiled and they both hurried to the farm. Sweetapple Acers in sight, the pair saw their farmpony friend bucking an apple tree. "Hi Twilight! Hi Fluttershy, you here to help to? " she asked. " Well I didn't have anything else to so i would like to help... if you don't mind that is." replied Fluttershy. " Of course you can help the more the merrier!" ,said Applejack and smiled, "Here you each take a pair of baskets and lets go:" and with that they went with their jobs. A delivery later... " Well that went well " said Twilight. " Yes it did Twi, I sure hope those don't spit on our apples just because earth ponies made m' " worried the farmpony. " Well knowing them, somebody will but who knows you might get some new customers! " Said Twilight, visibly comforting her friend. " Well see ya later girls I have some things to do, here grab an apple each. " said Applejack handing some apples to her friends. "Awww thanks AJ see you later! " replied Twilight and Fluttershy in unison. They parted ways , Applejack going back to her farm and Twilight and her timid friend walking on the road back to the town. They immediately took a bite each of their apples enjoying their wonderful taste. Twilight thought that a bit odd but seeing her pegasus friend do the same, she shook the suspicion off, but what she didn't know is that Fluttershy was making a fruitbat relapse and Twilight was joining her on the soon to be apple massacre. They continued with their meal unaware of the dangers ahead.
Chapter 2: Hospital Visit The morning after she did her deliveries and helped Applejack with Flutterhsy's help Twilight was suffering from a slight headache. Her number 1 assistant made her a special breakfast, some pancakes with chocolate syrup while constantly repeating that food is always the best medicine. She thought that was silly so she took some pills to help make the terrible headache go away, but Spike did not know that so he just smiled with the 'told you so' grin when the pain went away not knowing about the little medicine that she took. Twilight wasn't particularly amused by what he thought was his victory as she had way too much to think about at the moment, but she didn't want to hurt his feeling because she knew he meant well. She finished the delicious breakfast she was given and decided that she would go and see the doctor about her headache. It's probably nothing but I should make sure I am not sick, better safe than sorry after all. she thought, wanting to be able to make a schedule right away if she was sick, being organized was important to her after all. She closed the door and went towards the Ponyville hospital for a checkup, which she had to do soon anyways. On the twenty-third this month if my calendar is correct. she smiled at her thought and how much simpler things were because of her organized nature. While she was walking through the town she saw Berry Punch, who had a bandaged hoof. At that moment Twilight had an idea in her head: Well I could ask her if she is planing on visiting the hospital, at least I will have someone to talk to on the way, maybe my time time will pass quicker and the hospital won't be as boring as it can be when you are alone there for a checkup. "Hi Berry why is your hoof bandaged?" Twilight asked. "Oh hello there Twilight." answered Berry Punch. "Just a drunk stallion who thought he was too good to pay up, I swear that there should be a law limiting how much alcohol a pony can be served at a bar." Twilight felt sad for Berry Punch, running a bar can be dangerous at times, especially when there is a celebration in town and lots of ponies go to have a bit of fun in the bars at night and while drunk, they just can't think clearly and do something stupid to themselves or others. That was only a small part of night life because most are smart enough to be careful and have a good time. "Are you planning on visiting the hospital by any chance? I am on my way now and could use some company." she asked her with hope that she would say yes. "Actually I was thinking to go later today but it would be so much more fun with somepony else to talk to." Berry said smiling at Twilight. Great! This will be easier now and I can catch up with her a bit. We haven't talked much recently. Twilight thought happily. "Great! we can catch up a bit while we walk if you want." said Twilight and Berry answered to her with a question of her own: "I'd like that, we have not been talking recently. So Twilight tell me, what got you so occupied that you were in that library of yours for so long.". Twilight thought for a second, as the question reminded her that she has been spending more time in the comfort and silence of her home than usual. Well I have been busy with my research on the whole event with the Flutterbat incident, as Rarity called it and besides it is so nice in there. "Oh you know, just research." she said. "Oh Twilight that's just like you isn't it, always working on a project." Berry teased a bit and Twilight blushed to her comment. "Well I am just looking into things." she tried to excuse herself but she found a way to escape further embarrassment as they reached the hospital. "Oh we are here already here, time sure flies when you're talking." she said trying to change the topic but to no avail as Berry Punch was still grinning devilishly. "Yes, yes it does Twilight." was the only thing she said before they reached multiple doors leading into different wings of the hospital. "Well i guess this is where we split, I am going to the neurology wing to try to fix the headache I've been having and I am positive you are just here for the doctors to take a look at your wound, I wish you luck Berry." Twilight said before turning to the door. "Thanks I wish you luck too." Berry said and waved goodbye to Twilight who waved back. *** So off to finally fix this horrible headache! thought Twilight frustrated that she was behind on her schedule and wasting precious time to something that might be just a fake concern. She reached doctor Neuron's door and as there was nobody waiting, she knocked on the door. "Come in." she heard the doctor saying. She opened the door and greeted the doctor: "hello doctor Neuron I was hoping you could fix a problem I've been having the last couple of days." To that doctor Neuron chuckled and said: "Well of course Twilight that is my job after all.". He leaned back on his chair and asked: "So tell me miss Sparkle, what is the problem?". "Well I've been having a terrible headache for the couple of days and it is really getting in the way in my research". she answered the question. Doctor Neuron put on a more serious face and said: "I see, well I will perform a simple scanning spell so we can see what is happening with that big brain of yours.". Twilight blushed a bit at the compliment an answered: "Okay doctor let's do it." "Okay, this won't hurt a bit." the doctor said and started the spell. After a couple of seconds the spell finished and the doctor smiled and said: "Well Twilight you definitely showing some sings of a slight problem , but don't worry you are only exhausted. You need a break from work and a good night's rest." Twilight smiled a bit, relieved that she wasn't sick and answered grinning: "Ok doctor I will and thank you very muchfor your help." "I am just doing my job Twilight." he smiled. These sort of things made him happy to be a doctor.
Chapter 3: A Bite To RememberTwilight was on her way back to the library when she suddenly realized that she was slightly hungry, luckily she brought an apple with her for that exact reason, although she didn't know why she brought an apple when it could have been something more filling like a sandwich. Deciding not to worry about that she continued to a little spot near Fluttershy's house where she liked to relax and read sometimes. She reached her destination and just took in the beauty of the place, It was a cliff not to far of the ground making it relatively safe to be at, it also had a large, old oak tree casting a shadow over the area and providing a nice spot to lay on. It offered an amazing view on the fields blooming with flowers and forests rich with wildlife, you could even see a small river coming out of the forest and flowing through the field. It was simply breathtaking and even better at sunsets when the sun shined the last of its rays for the day and setting below the horizon. The purple unicorn took out the apple and bit into it, the apple tasted amazing, like never before and for some reason she wanted more, much more. This is amazing! I need some more but where can I find some? she wondered fore a minute before it dawned on her, Of course Fluttershy should have some, we went to the market together after all. Right now, Twilight was too far gone into her transformation into a Fruit batpony to think clearly or rationally and the only thoughts she was having were about the sweat taste of the apple she ate and her soon to be feast. She was now nearing Fluttershy's cottage and she was truely excited because she could see the enternace to it, she was so close now and she could almost taste the apples at that moment. Now in fornt of the door she knocked on the door and asked : "Fluttershy are you in there?" She noticed that the door was unlocked and pushed it open and she saw something that would make her run faster than Rainbow Dash, if she wasn't in the middle of her transformation, she saw Fluttershy only she had bat wings and a tuft of fur on each of her ears. The Flutterbat was too busy devouring an apple to notice her friend in the house. Twilight was about to go to her when something caught her interest, the sweet taste of apples that her mouth watered to every time she thought of them, she also noticed an apple just laying on the table and a step by step she was moving to it. The entire time she didn't take her eyes of it and din't realise she was drooling, in a matter of seconds she was there and after a brief moment of hesitation she bit into it. Her mind exploded at the taste in her mouth finally trigering her transformation. Her head was in a pain as her horn was pushed back into her skull and the feathers on her wings started to fall off, revealing the newly formed bat wings on the place there were normal, pegasus wings until recently. Finishing her transormation, her ears now had a small tuft of fur on her ears and long fangs peeknig from her mouth. The newly transformed Twilight picked up the apple that had fallen from her hoof while she was transforming and bit into it as hard as she could, sucking all the sweet nectar out of it leaving it an empty husk. Flutterbat finally turned around and her eyes went wide when she saw who was standing there and more importantly, how she looked like. She immidiately backed up a little, as she hasn't quite determined whether Twibat was a threat or not and hissed, Twibat mimicked her action. Somethnig was telling her that she knows that fruit batpony, that she was friendly. She hissed again asking the other fruit batpony if she was friendly and Twibat hissed back, confirming her firendly intentions because she knew as well that the other one was a friend. Acting on instinct Flutterbat offered half of her apple stash, which was an instinctive act of forming a bond between two mutualy friendly fruit batponies, creating a fruit batpony version of a coven. Naturally Twibat took the offer as she was hungry from her recent transformation. Twibat hissed at Flutterbat asking where shall their residence be and Flutterbat sugested the building they were at the moment as it was a location distant from the town, near the Everfree forest which could provide an escape route in a case of emergency plus it was near a food source, the Sweet Apple Acres. Twibat immediately agreed as the location seemed nearly perfect and both of them continued to suck their precious apples dry. After they finnished their meal they agreed to scout out the local area to form an idea where they could reside, which places should be avoided and where they could move if needed. After a couple of sweeps through the area they had a general idea of the area: there were some caves nearby which could serve as hideouts in times of need, the forest was huge and definetly a place they should explore more thoroughly in the future and possibly even move there as it was thick and secure, there was also the town that was to be avoided at all times because it was filled of regular ponies. The night was nearing its end and the two fruit batponies were tired, they hung themselves upside down with their tails tied upon whatever pole they could find. Upon tying their tails they wraped their wings around them to keep themselves warm. As the first rays of sunlight began to shine upon the land, the two fruit batponies were resting peacefully in the small cottage near the Everfree without knowing of the threats to their existence that are soon to come.
Chapter 4: The Birth Of a CovenIn the morning after the coven was founded Spike woke up as he would on any other day. He rose out of his basket and yawned, he still hadn’t awoken completely. He turned his head to face Twilight only to realise Twilight wasn’t there. He wondered where she was. Thinking back to yesterday’s chores, he remembered that the last place Twilight had gone to was to the hospital and she didn’t come back at all that afternoon. It was late when he had decided that he would go to bed. He figured that she just had to wait a long time at the hospital so she had to stay out longer in order to finish all the things she had on her checklist. He couldn’t figure out why she wouldn’t come home after that. It’s not that the hospital was far away, it was fifteen minutes on hoof away tops. He was going to go to her friends and ask if they know anything. Maybe she slept over at one of their homes for some reason. First, however, he was going to have his breakfast. There wasn’t anything dangerous that could have happened to her. After all, Ponyville wasn’t that big and somepony would have heard if something happened. About twenty minutes later… Spike had just finished his relatively small breakfast that consisted of a bowl of cereal and a gem or two. The first pony he was going to visit was Rarity. He was hoping that she would help him in his search for Twilight. If he was lucky she would and he would get to spend some time with her. He was now at The Carousel Boutique and knocked on the door and soon he heard her voice. “Who is it?” She asked. “It’s Spike,” he answered. “Oh, give me a moment dear,” she said. The door to the boutique soon opened and revealed the marshmallow coloured pony. “what can I do for you darling?” “Well, Twilight hasn’t come back last night and I was wondering if she stayed over with you or if you knew anything,” he asked nervously. “I am afraid that I do not know anything dear. I could help you look for her if you want,” she said with a charming smile. “That would be great!” he said. He was excited that he would get to spend some time with her again, even if it was spent searching for Twilight. “Excellent! We should split up and go ask the rest of the girls if they have seen her. I will get Pinkie and Rainbow Dash and you can get Applejack or Fluttershy. We will meet at the library after we are done in order to decide what we should do next.” Spike was now a bit disappointed that he wouldn’t spend time with Rarity alone after all. “Ok, see you soon then,” he said and went to the orchard. About an hour later Spike and Applejack were on their way toward Fluttershy’s cottage when they heard somepony yelling. “Hey wait up guys,” called the voice. Spike and Applejack turned around and saw Rainbow Dash. “Oh howdy Rainbow,” greeted Applejack “Weren’t we supposed to meet at the library?” Asked Spike “Rarity explained everything to us and since we were done I suggested that we catch up with you guys so we can find Twilight faster,” answered Rainbow Dash. “That’s all fine and dandy but you really didn’t have to do that. It aint gonna make us get Fluttershy any faster,” said Applejack. “Well we are here so we might as well all go together dear,” said Rarity. Applejack just nodded and they all walked to the shy pegasus’s home with the exception of Pinkie who was bouncing. Fluttershy’s cottage was finally in sight and the group of ponies stopped in front of the door. Spike took a step closer to the door and knocked. “Fluttershy are you in there,” he asked, “We need to talk to you it’s really important.” “Come in,” she said calmly. The group walked in the timid mare’s home and saw her sitting on her couch, but she was not the only pony on it. The other pony was Twilight and she was wrapped in a blanket and was occupied with a cup of warm tea. That sight seemed to calm down the others but it also sparked worry and curiosity. “Twilight you are all right!” exclaimed Spike in relief and joy. “We were all very worried about you dear,” said Rarity. Twilight seemed surprised for a second before she decided to respond. “Oh you shouldn’t have been worried about me. What was the worst thing that could have happened to me? Still, thank you for being such good friends,” said Twilight. “It was Spike who organized the whole thing. When he noticed that you were gone he went to ask us for help. We only volunteered to help him look for you,” said Rarity. Spike seemed to beam with pride and joy for the praise he was getting from his crush. “Could ya tell us why ya didn’t come home last night Twi?” asked Applejack. Fluttershy decided to join the conversation at that. “Well, I found her unconscious on the grass near the road. I tried to wake her up but when she didn’t respond I carried her to my cottage so I could check if she was ok. I know I should have gotten somepony to help but I was just so worried about her that I couldn’t think clearly,” explained Fluttershy with a tone that radiated regret. “Aww that’s okay Fluttershy you were super duper scared and did what what you thought was the best thing to do. We can’t blame you for that,” said Pinkie in an effort to comfort one of her many friends. “That is very nice of you to say Pinkie,” said Fluttershy Twilight of course knew that everything Fluttershy had just said was a pure lie. They made up the story immediately after they had woken up. They knew that their friends would come looking for Twilight after she didn’t return. She was pleased that they have bought the story. “I think I will stay here a little while longer girls. I still haven’t recovered completely. I do not even know why I passed out so I will try to figure that part out.” “Ok Twilight just don’t over do it like you usually do and come back this time,” said Spike with a small smile. The group left the cottage and while they were leaving the two batponies grinned evilly at their success at fooling their friends.
