Getting the job "Manehattan! A city where hopes and dreams come true. Where people who were once nobodies become the talk of the town. Too bad I'm not famous here.....or anywhere in that matter." I chuckled to myself as I stepped off the train. I took a moment to really take in the sight, what I heard was definitely true: it's a lot like New York which is where I am from and spent most of my time. The only thing is this city is populated with ponies that can on two legs instead of four but can speak English very well which was very fortunate. I came here because I really wanted to find a job in a new area and meet some new peopl-er I mean ponies, luckily this place has both. "Well, there's no point standing around. Time to find myself a job." I said right before diving into the sea of ponies filling the streets. Despite my college education I wanted to start out small and then work my way up the ladder like most successful people, maybe a waiter for a fancy restaurant or an employee at a five star hotel. Unfortunately for me no restaurant or hotels were hiring at the time which I'll admit was a bit of a downer for me but I still continued my search. I then tried looking around for positions like barkeeper, cashier, tailor, paperboy, policemen, etc. Only to get rejection after rejection after rejection. Hope seemed lost when I stopped at a barbershop, although they weren't hiring at the time one barber told me about a small repair man business and so I decided to set my sights on that. I was given directions to the place which was an old looking three-story house complete with a garage and backyard, I walked up to the front door and gave it three good knocks. A full three minutes passed with no answer, I was about to knock again when I suddenly heard a loud sound coming from the garage. Being naturally curious I peered through the dirty garage door window to see an old broken down pickup truck with sparks coming from underneath it. I knocked one last time on the garage door which caught the attention of who was underneath, a figure wearing a dirty blacksmith's apron and welding mask emerged from underneath and lifted the garage door with ease. "Uh, excuse me sir but I heard you were looking for another employee. Correct?" The stranger said nothing, he simply turned around and walked back inside. I felt like a real loser at that moment but then heard a voice. "You're coming in or what? I gotta let down the garage door or the bugs will get in." The voice was slightly muffled but indeed came from the stranger, I hesitated a bit but quickly entered anyway. The interior of the house matched the exterior perfectly: the walls were dirty and the paint was peeling but other than that it was pretty decent, the figure lead me to what I would guess to be the living room. He sat down on the plushy pink couch, I joined him. You could pretty much guess my reaction when the figure took off his welding mask....and turned out to be a woman, she was a dark brown pegasus mare with a messy unkept black mane. "Wow, I had no idea you were a girl. I wouldn't have-I mean not that you look like a man I just mean-" Her expression was a cold unamused look, I better change the subject and fast. "Ahem, so like I was saying earlier I was hoping you would have an opening for me. I have my resume right here if you need any more information." I then reached into my satchel, pulled out a giant folder filled to the point of bursting with papers and handed it to her. She flipped through the pages for a few seconds, I felt confident that she would be no doubt impressed. My heart then sank like a boat as I watched her crumple the pages up into a ball and tossed it into a nearby waste basket. "Wh-what did you do that for!?!?" "All those papers meant nothing to me, therefore it means nothing to this company so it is garbage." She said bluntly. "B-But I-" "Look, we need someone who actually has experience in this line of work. We have no time to hold your hand and walk you through this step by step so you can go ahead and walk yourself out." She said pulling out a magazine article from underneath her seat cushion and began reading. "It's good thing I thought ahead and made copies." I grumbled underneath my breath as I headed for the front door when suddenly there was a loud scream upstairs. "Brass help! The sink! Ahh!" "Oh my Celestia, not this again." The brown mare groaned right before she headed upstairs. A split second later I could hear the both of them screaming, I rushed upstairs to see what was going on. I immediately spotted water flowing underneath a door to one of the bathrooms, I opened the door to see two mares practically wrestling a broken sink faucet. The first mare was the rude one I've already met, the second one however was a grey unicorn with a curly purple mane. Both was being sprayed mercilessly by the faucet, the unicorn's white T-shirt was beyond soaked giving a pretty vivid view of her bra which were at least E-sized cups. I immediately looked away. "Well don't just stand there, do something!" I yelled in my head. I spotted a rusty red toolbox on the floor and pulled out a wrench, I charged at the sink being sprayed without mercy. I managed to get underneath and closed the pipe with the wrench causing the wild waterworks to stop, I then found the replacement faucet next to the beige mare and swapped the old one out for this one. The sink was then working properly in no time. "And that should do." I said trying to dry my face with my shirt. "Thanks for your help." The grey mare panted. "No problem. I'm Miles Sterling. " "Oh I'm Silver whistle and this is my sister, Brass gears." "We've met." Brass rolled her eyes. "So are you here for some assistance?" "Uh, actually I was hoping to get a job here." "A job? Well did you ask Brass?" "Yeah. I did." "Then welcome aboard then." "Wait what?" "Didn't Brass hire you?" "No, she didn't." "Really?" Silver then turned towards her sister. "Brass why didn't you hire him?" "Because he's unexperienced. And I have no time to train some rookie." "He fixed the faucet just fine." "Yeah, but that's one thing." "Fine, I'll train him then." "Really!?!" I asked, my heard pounding with newfound hope. "Sure. You can start first thing in the morning." "Oh, I uh-" "What's wrong? You don't have a place to stay or something?" "No not really, just got off the train actually." "Hm. Then you can have the guest bed room, well actually I have to clean it first but you can sleep on the couch tonight if that's okay." "Sure, thank you so much." After helping drying up the whole bathroom Silver whistle gave me a pillow and a warm blanket for me to sleep with tonight. I'll admit I wasn't exactly sleepy at first but I soon changed my tune when Brass mentioned that I better sleep as much as I can because the first day is always the hardest in her opinion. I watched as the brown mare left the living room and I gotta say: Brass has a nice fat ass. //-------------------------------------------------------// First day on the job //-------------------------------------------------------// First day on the job I was awoken by a fierce slap to the face with a dirty rag, I look up to see Brass looking down at me with her usual unamused look . "Is this how you wake people up in the morning?" "Only with people I find annoying. Now get off your ass already, we've got a job to do. Here's your work clothes. I'll be waiting in the truck." She sat down a small stack of clothes on my chest: a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots that already have dried mud stains on the bottom. She turned and left with a huff, I could tell right away she still isn't so keen on letting me on the team. If I want to keep this job I better show that I know what I'm doing. I hustled up the stairs, took a shower, brush my teeth, put on the fresh set of clothes, and joined Brass gears in the rusty pick up truck. "So what's the job?" "It's a repair job, we'll get the details from the caller. He's a new client so it wouldn't be wise to mess up." "Right. Got it." She twisted the key to start the truck, only to hear raspy sputtering sound coming from the engine. "Celestia dammit." Brass said as she angrily hit the steering wheel. "Do you-uh want to check underneath the hood?" "Sure, why not?" We both exited the truck, I popped open the hood and immediately a black smog cloud blew into my face. Brass started to snicker but stopped when I looked at her. "So what's wrong with it genius?" "Well.....for one thing I don't think this is supposed to be in there." I groaned as I pulled out a rotting pizza box from the engine. "Yeah, I have no idea how that got in there." She said taking the box out of my hand and tossing it over her shoulder. "Let's go, we're late now." It was a short trip through the city until we reached the caller's house which was a rusty looking two-story house. Brass knocked on the door, a minute later the door opened and a large burly looking stallion stood in the doorway. "There you are, 'bout time you got here." "Sorry about that, you see we were having some issues with the truck and-" "I don't want to hear it, are you going to do the job or what?" "Y-Yes sir, what is it you called for again?" "Do I have to explain everything? (sigh) The downstairs basement's heating and cooling system is busted. I'm sweating like a pig." "And smell like one." Brass mumbled underneath her breath. "What was that?" "Nothing sir, we're on it." She turned to face me. "I'll check out the basement while you get the tools from the truck." "Got it." I jogged back to the truck and collected the toolbox from underneath the steering wheel. As I headed back into the house the stallion looked at me as I entered the living room. "Hmph, so what are you anyway? Some kinda grease monkey?" He laughed. "Just tell me where the basement is." "Down the hall and to the left, can't miss it......even with your small IQ I'm guessing." I really wanted to tell this guy off but thought twice about it, I wanted to keep this job after all. I followed his directions and found the door to the basement already open, walking down the stairs I was immediately hit with a harsh heat wave. The basement floor was filled with hot steam and Brass was no where in sight. "Brass! Brass, where are you?" For some odd reason I felt like I was in a horror movie scenario when suddenly I felt someone touch my shoulder, I quickly turned around to see Brass. "Whoa, easy man. Paranoid much?" "Sorry, I guess I watch too many horror movies." "Good to know." "Let's just finish the job already. So what do we have to do?" "Well first we have to shut off these valves and the client said there's 12 in all." Brass said walking over to one of the pipe lines on the ground and twisting the valve shut. "That's one." "Alright then, easy enough. Oh, here's one." I said shutting off another pipe line. This continued until we turned off 11 in total, meaning there was one left somewhere. "Up there." Brass said pointing at the last one. Unlike the others it was attached to the upper part of the wall near the furnace. "Great, how do we get up there?" "Quick get on your hands and knees." "Wait, what?" "Not like that idiot, I'm going to use you as a stool to get up there duh." "Fine." I got on my heads and knees, she stood on my back and reached for the valve. "Did you turn it yet?" "Almost....got it." Suddenly she slipped causing us both to topple to the ground, when I came to I realized she was laying on top of me. She looked at me with her hazelnut brown eyes, I was frozen in place. I could feel her moist sweaty body fur through my sweat drenched shirt, this is bad. But still I couldn't help but like the feeling of her laying on me, so much that I didn't notice my hands sliding down her smooth back and stopping at her nice soft ass. She gasped as my hands dug deeper and let out a moan as I gave it a nice slap before I started to began to massage her. I almost lost myself in the moment when she suddenly punched me in my forehead before and stood up. "Hmph, we will never speak of this again." She said leaving the basement. I sat up rubbing my forehead, I don't know what happened but I think I just screwed up....big time. I began to walk back up the stairs when I heard Brass screaming, I ran up the rest of the stairs and entered the living room to see the stallion pinning her down on his couch. "Get off of me you drunk asshole!" She hollered. "Now, now. That's no way a lady should talk, I should tech you to learn some respect. How about I pull off these troublesome jeans so I can buck that nice, juicy fat ass of yours huh?" The stallion's fun was cut short by me pulling him off of her and throwing him to the ground. "What the hell you think you're doing!?!?" I yelled. "Mind your own business grease monkey!" The stallion yelled as he threw a punch. I barely dodged it and tackled him back to the ground. Brass joined in and helped me put the drunk in a submission hold for a few seconds until he eventually passed out. Both of us were panting hard, we decided to leave the stallion where he was and head back home. The entire ride we were both silent until she sighed loudly. "You okay?" "Yeah I'm fine." "Do these kinds of things happen a lot?" "Only when we do a job for a psycho. Thanks by the way." "Hey no problem. Um, about what happened in the basement." "Like I said...we will never speak of it again." "A-Agreed."
