Equestrian Front: Third War
Assault on Appaloosa
Previous ChapterThe British 32nd Army is camped in the eastern side of Appaloosa, US 1st Army is based in the north and the Free French Legions were marching towards them from the south. British had 300,000 soldiers, US having 250,000 and the French having 400,000.
The Royal Guards had 500,000 with repeater rifles and a few muskets along with pegasi for air superiority. A Russian Mobile AA Battalion was coming to help along with the German Luftwaffe. Among them were Boris, Wilhelm, Willis, Tommy and Leduc. They were soon going to meet on the battlefield.
The American M18 Hellcats took positions near the railway behind rocks and shrubs. The British Cromwells did the same in the east. The French would attack from the south. On one of the rocks in the north, one of the Hellcats took aim at an incoming train full of Royal Guards and opened fire along with his comrades. The Cromwells rushed in from the east breaking through the defensive lines of the thin line of the 6th Royal Regiment. The FFL were sneaking through the apple orchard from the south. Soviet Katyusha Artillery and ZSU 37's were soon going to make it.
Tommy was one of the soldiers in the British 32nd Army, he was an infantryman and charged through the town wiping out the resistance. The Cromwell's hull mounted flamethrowers quickly burned the town creating a large plume of smoke. Willis and his platoon joined in by giving sniper support from the rocks. Leduc infiltrated the apple orchard clearing out the farm. Little did they know, they sprung a trap. Pegasi suddenly swarmed all over the soldiers who opened fire with sub machine guns and rifles tearing them apart. Suddenly, black flak clouds covered the sky in a mixture of gray and red mist. On the horizon, Boris and his ZSU 37 crew fired at the swarms of Pegasi who died quickly from the flak.
1st Royal Army
General Steelhoof and his men were being sent to Appaloosa to defend it from three attackers. His men were 600,000 strong along with some ballistae and other siege machines to support. The invaders had destroyed the railway, so he couldn't go on train, they had to march on hoof. They marched for days until they reached Appaloosa, there were no signs of the enemy. Flames were still burning, dead bodies lay around, and blood painted the walls of the buildings. They walked in the middle of the town setting up camp when two of his men suddenly fell. They were being watched by the Russian elite sniper team. One by one, more of his men fell from the hidden enemy. Explosions began to appear and he felt a surge of pain in his neck. He was shot, his neck spurting blood while his eyes grew heavy. He closed his eyes to sleep and never awake again.
Allied/Axis
The Russians brought their AA guns and infantry. Snipers hid among the rocks and bushes and picked off the Royal Guards on by one. They shot more until they all went inside the buildings in which the tanks shot at with their shells penetrating through the walls and explode inside sending fragments of metal into the Royal Guards cutting them to pieces. The German Luftwaffe started bombing the town, pegasi aerial infantry tried to shoot down the JU 87 Stukas but tail gunners chopped them up by returning fire. ZSU 37mm guns began thundering from the ground filling the air with flak clouds. US and British Commonwealth Forces stormed through the city shooting anypony on sight.
Tommy's regiment was given the order to go to the city and kill all the ponies on sight. The Americans will do the same. He clutched his Lee Enfield and prepared a few Steilhandgrantes he had borrowed from Wilhelm, he threw a few of them through the windows and out came body parts of a pony. Royal Guards suddenly rushed out and fought the his regiment. He fired quickly taking down the incoming guards. MacGregor fired his Thompson at the Royal Guards. The regiment fitted their bayonets as hand to hand combat was just moments away, the British 7th Regiment was surrounded near the train platforms. Tommy and MacGregor stood next to each other stabbing Royal Guards in the throat before finishing them off with a bullet to the head.
A loud explosion was then heard and in came an improved TOG 3 with four turrets instead of one. The trench crosser rumbled through buildings burning Royal Guards alive with its hull mounted flamethrower. The Royal Guards ran away in fear. The British cheered and opened fire on the retreating guards. A couple bullets found their target and killed a few. The pegasi aerial infantry was still in the air, soldiers from the ground opened fire on them plucking them out from the sky. US infantry encircled the town trapping the remaining Royal Guards, the French stalked the apple orchards and killed any Royal Guards trying to escape. British Commonwealth troops began clearing the town of the 500,000 remaining Royal Guards. The remaining Royal Guards made one last desperate push against the British Army. All of the guards lined up ready to charge at them. British troops aimed their guns and fired while the Royal Guards charged.
MacGregor blazed away with his Thompson while Tommy was setting up a Browning 30. caliber. MacGregor and Frank defended Tommy while he set up the 30. cal on a tripod. It was minutes until it was set up and Tommy fired away sending bullets that tore through the flesh of their enemies, blood spurting on him as he fired. MacGregor threw his Thompson at the Guards as it had run out of ammo and took out his Webley revolver. He shot the Guards with his revolver whose bullets snapped the bones of their enemies and spilled their blood. Frank tore the Royal Guards with his trench gun. Their regiment was quickly being overwhelmed. Only 2 platoons were left, most already had their bayonets mounted on their rifles and quickly fought in in melee combat.
The US army began pushing their way into the town where the British were taking casualties. They were on their way to support and saw the British struggling against the ponies, they unleashed a large hail of bullets onto the ponies tearing them apart, HE shells were fired and vaporized the Royal Guards and cutting up nearby guards stringing the streets with intestines and guts. Russian snipers fired upon the Guards' commanding officers leading them to disorganize the army making it easier on the British. Other nations had joined the fight against the ponies, Finland, India, China, and Spain had joined the Allied/Axis against their struggle bringing their own teleporters and prototype equipment. Few of their troops already were accompanying the Allied/Axis assault on Appaloosa. Finnish troops accompanied Boris' 34th Guards Regiment. They had their own sniper teams and began picking off the Royal Guards one by one.
The battle continued, Tommy firing the 30. cal and Willis shooting his M1D Garand at the heads of ponies accompanied by Sherman Crocodile flamethrower tanks burning through the enemy. The army soon eradicated resistance of the ponies and wiped out the entire 1st Royal Army. The shots stopped firing, Tommy and his friend looked around. Their fellow comrades died, Frank was stabbed in the chest by a spear, Ken had bled out after a blade cut through his leg, Steele was shot by a few arrows. They took out their shovels and buried their friends. Tommy searched the bodies for any letters and sure enough he found one from Steele. He didn't want to read it. He stuffed it in his pocket and continued burying their friends. MacGregor made some crosses and took off the helmets of their fallen comrades. As soon as Tommy finished burying, he placed the crosses into the dirt with the helmets attached to them. He engraved the names of the fallen soldiers on the helmets with his bayonet.
The assault was over on the ground. The air was still full of pegasi aerial infantry who were under heavy fire from flak and machine gun fire. EAF airships began appearing on the horizon. British Supermarine Spitfires Mark IX's and Typhoons headed for the EAF trying to shoot them down. The Luftwaffe joined the RAF in their aerial battle. Wilhelm was in his new Me 262 and sped towards the swarm of pegasi blazing his 30mm Mark 108 cannons. Red mist formed as the cannons hit their targets. He sped past the pegasi to catch up with the RAF who already engaged the EAF airships. EAF Mark II airships were spotted with new gun batteries had longer barrels that shot accurately, but used a smaller shell than most of the normal ones. Wilhelm aimed for the gun barrels as one of the shells from his 30mm cannons chipped off a barrel from a battery which fired and the gun exploded itself.
The RAF engaged the zeppelins under heavy fire from the light 15mm AA guns made by Equestria's factories. The shells didn't explode upon impact making no flak clouds, they were meant to penetrate through the frame of the planes. Typhoons unleashed volleys of rockets on the engines of the Mark II zeppelin with EAF Celestia engraved on it, setting them aflame and destroying a Anti Grav. generator making it lose altitude and colliding on top of another airship below it.
The EAF Celestia was commanded by Celestia's elite guards, the airship lost altitude and fell right on top of the EAF Wonderbolts. One more of the Anti Grav. generators were destroyed and soon, the airship fell on the EAF Wonderbolts crushing the gasbags and letting lose the hydrogen gases in the air where bullets flew. One bullet ignited the spreading gases starting a flame swallowing the EAF Celestia. The EAF Wonderbolts had fire on the ceiling of the ship where pieces of wood began to fall. The wood had fire still burning and more pieces fell, a few planks fell down and started an enormous fire that began in the middle of the engine room. The engine room had been hit by the 30mm cannons whose shells penetrated through the thinly armored ceiling and fumes started to leak. The fires ignited the fumes starting a large fire in the EAF Celestia.
Wilhelm strafed gun positions on the airships to prevent intense AA fire. He flew towards an airship that fell on top of another and saw an explosion occur in the rear with smaller explosions erupting near the gun deck. The ship under it had its roof cave in and erupted into a devastating explosion that produced so much smoke that hindered the pilot's visibility as well as the other airships. Pieces of the airships flew through the air and hit the ground below. Wilhelm had an strafed the airships at their rear trying to damage the engines. One of them had a large on giving it more speed than the others, he strafed this until the large engines began sputtering and sparking. He unleashed all his rockets into it that exploded starting a fire on the engines. The EAF Endurance was the flagship of the EAF this had 600mm hull armor and 90mm Magic guns that didn't need ammo but magic to power them. Its large gun deck gave it firepower other airships couldn't. The large engines gave it more speed. Wilhelm strafed the engines until they exploded and took out most of the rear on the airship, the engine room exploded along with it igniting the gun deck of explosions as the gun batteries exploded with blue flames. As soon as the explosions stopped, a large explosion took out the whole top part of the zeppelin, the hydrogen gas bags had been ignited on the large ship. Wilhelm heard cheers on the radio channel. They headed back to the airfield that was established near Appaloosa. The assault was a success.
