How much time has passed since we first met, Twilight Sparkle? After I stole your crown, you chased me all the way to a world you didn’t even know existed. It was a world with so much disharmony, so much complexity that not even Celestia, Equestria’s Celestia could begin to comprehend. A world were magic was nonexistent.
Yet still, when you arrived, it only took you but a day to adjust. You were awkward on your first day, yet you managed to find the people identical to your friends back home and befriend them as well. I split them apart, but you brought them back together. You now act as the glue that holds everyone in place.
Only darkness lingered in my heart, and my desire to rule over Equestria was what fueled me to commit such despicable acts. Yet, where there is darkness, there is also light. Your light is what outshined the blackness in my soul, and all the hatred that had blinded me then vanished, and my eyes opened. I was introduced to a hideous reality. I screwed up. Big time. And everyone knew it. I sought power and failed. I failed as a student who once studied under the great Princess of the Sun. I failed as a wielder of magic once I abused my gift. And I failed as a pony of Equestria when I stole from you, Princess Twilight Sparkle.
I knew then that I had sealed my own fate. Exiled from my home, and to forever live in a world void of any magic. The humans, that is what we call this world’s inhabitants, know of my true self and saw me at my worst. And for as long as I am here, they will continue to despise me for everything I’ve done. No one will ever trust me, and I only had myself to blame.
At least, that is what I thought. You then put your hand on my shoulder and smiled. You’ve said to me words of encouragement, assuring me that with effort I can make up for everything I’ve done. Your friends, the ones I’ve hurt the most, were willing to give me a chance. To love me as a friend.
That’s when I knew how powerful the magic of friendship is. Despite the flaws a pony possesses, you must get to know them first before you judge them. Give them a chance, and you may be surprised. That’s what you showed me, Twilight. You showed me the good that can come in life—my life, if I were to simply take a leap of faith and trust in others.
After our battle with the Dazzlings, I have long pondered on whether we should have let things end right then and there. Seeing those three girls up on stage, powerless, humiliated and beaten… At the time, I was satisfied. It was our victory. But the Sirens…
Not long after you left, I wrote to you once more. I wanted—no, needed to find them. They’ve done a lot of harm, just like me. But like me, they were also lost. They had no way, no path to guide them. You taught me the value of friendship, so I felt compelled to help them as well. If I had just let them be, guilt would have eroded my heart. But I could not do it alone.
Our friends… For some reason, with the exception of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, they didn’t understand. They didn’t want to look for them. They didn’t want to give them a second chance like they gave me mine. It was baffling. What made me different from the Dazzlings? Why am I any special? What do I have over them? I made mistakes too, so why…?
Five years… Five years I’ve been searching, with your occasional aid. I have found no signs of them, but I just couldn’t give up. They were out there, I know it. They need help and the both of us are willing to give them the chance they need to make up for their past sins. I’m not the only one who deserves your friendship.
We were seated within Sugarcube Corner, munching away on the delectable treats the shop had to offer. You’ve been here three days already, staying in my apartment while we searched for the Sirens. As usual, we’ve had no luck finding them. It frustrated me to no end, especially since our search has been going on for this long. I barely found the time to do this nowadays with my job and all, and you have your own duties as a princess of Equestria.
We’ve both changed considerably in appearance. We no longer have the appearances of teenagers, but young adults.
My hair, reminiscent to our species, is now tied into a ponytail. While still similar to my former tastes in my teen years, my fashion sense had become more suitable for someone my age. I sported my trademark black leather jacket, with the sleeves folded up to my elbows, and underneath was a white tank top that reached just past my hips. Since I grew a few feet I have taken a habit of wearing pants, and today I’ve chosen to go with some navy tight-fitting denims, and a pair of black women’s dress shoes adorning my feet. Yeah, not the most feminine look.
You, on the other hand, are gorgeous. You’ve also tied your hair, but into a messy bun with stray locks falling down to your neck. You wore a plain white blouse tucked in a black leather pencil skirt, your legs concealed in brown stockings and feet sporting a nice pair of silver high heels. With those cute square-framed glasses you’re wearing, you can pass for a really sexy high school teacher.
And hell, I’m willing to be the delinquent who gets stuck in detention with you…
“…and I don’t really think they’d even be in the same state or country given the time that’s passed,” your voice snaps me back into reality. My eyes meet yours, those beautiful orbs of violet. Your gaze pierces through me, and my mouth runs dry. Oh Gods, I didn’t even hear a word you said! I am so sorry, Twi! “Sunset, are you okay?”
I cleared my throat, trying so hard to fight the blush that threatens to spread throughout my face. “Y-yeah, sorry. Just spaced out a little.”
You furrowed your brows at me and I gulp. “Oh? Am I boring you?”
I brought my hands up. “No! No, of course not! I just have a lot on my mind!”
“Really? I’ve been talking for five minutes, twelve seconds, and two milliseconds, and you haven’t said a single word. Usually you would bring up your input every twenty to forty seconds after I start. After that, I would speak for another thirty-six seconds before you would agree or counter whatever I say.” It’s both adorable and creepy on how you can easily keep track of that kind of stuff. “Did you even hear anything I said?”
I bit my lip. “…Something about Romanea?”
You grunt. Ugh. “At least that part you heard. Anyway, I overheard some people talking about some funny ‘Youtube video’ that took place in Romanea. It was a group of three girls singing in front of a large crowd in a town square. They were…not that impressive, I heard.”
I sigh. “Twilight, it could be anyone—”
“Or it could be them. Sunset, think about it. With how many years passed, don’t you think they might have moved on from Canterlot City, let alone the state itself? Wouldn’t they have wanted to get as far away from the source of their shame as possible?” You point down. “People know them here. They need a fresh start, therefore they move from place to place.”
“So you’re saying…they’re nomads?” You nod. “Well, yeah that does make sense. Though even with how long it’s been since we’ve seen them last, I never thought they’d be able to get the money and resources to even leave Canterlot City. They could have worked, yes, but I doubt they would come up with the cash and documents to travel that far in just five years.”
“You could imagine what one can do when they’re driven, Sunset. For them, their drive is to settle wherever no one can recognize them. There are three of them, so they all could have worked. And like you said, it’s been five years. They may have only recently moved out of the country.”
Sighing, I nod. “I guess… Alright, I’ll look into it. I just hope this isn’t some wild goose chase.”
“It’s better than nothing. And you were right to contact me all those years ago. I was so foolish to not even consider checking to see if they’re alright. We did take away a huge part of them, after all. We barely had the state of mind to even think about how they felt. And when you wrote to me that time…”
“They feed off of the negative energy from people and ponies. It was their source of food. Their survival.” I look back up at you, my face probably having formed a frown. “And we shattered their only means of gathering such energy.”
“If they’ve been alive this long then maybe they don’t need it,” you assure me, taking my hand in yours. “Don’t worry, Sunset. We’ll find them. Someday.”
With such gentle contact and words, I offer you my own reluctant smile. While still unsure, I am willing to put my faith in your words. “I can only hope there wouldn’t be too much damage when we finally find them. Time can either heal wounds…or deepen them.” I squeeze your hand, and you squeeze back. I don’t even bother to fight down the blush this time. I want you to know just how grateful I am of all you do for me. And even the sight of my humility is the least I can give to you.
“You guys want seconds?!”
You and I are startled by the all-too-familiar jolly voice of our hyperactive baker friend. Pinkie Pie was standing next to us, a menu on one hand and a tray of sundaes balanced on the other. Like always, her lips wore a face-splitting grin, though I swear I could see said smile being a few centimeters wider. Also, her bouncy hair was being even bouncier than usual. And she was barely moving a muscle.
What was she so happy about? Well, happier than usual?
You shake your head and smile kindly. “None for me, thanks.” You then look back to me. “You want seconds, Sunset?”
I too shake my head and give Pinkie a thumbs up. “We’re good, thanks Pinks.”
She playfully pouted and held out the tray to us. “Aw, but I wanted you both to try my latest creation! I’ve worked super-duper-do-luper hard to make the flavor just right!” She inched closer, smiling again. “I need to know if this will be good enough to put on the menu!”
Having been a guinea pig for the baker’s creations in the past, I have every right to decline and demand to have anything she makes kept at least ten yards away from me. All those sweets… All that syrup… Chimmicherry… Cherrychangas… Chimmicherry… Cherrychangas…
Oh Celestia, make it stop!
I quickly brought my hand up and gently pushed the tray away. “I said…we’re good.”
“Not even a teensy-weensy, itty-bitty, little-wittle taste?”
“Pinkie—”
“I am offering these treats to you both for free, Shimmy. Why do you refuse my good will? After everything we’ve been through?”
“The hell are you talking about?” What’s with her? “Pinkie, please. We just don’t want any—”
I froze midsentence when she leaned in, her smile quickly being replaced by an intense glare boring into my eyes. There was a hint of…something in the baker’s eye that scared me a little. To an outsider it may just seem like she’s staring at me, but right now I felt like she was looking into my soul. Her eyes narrowed, and I can’t help but swallow. Could it be, that in some wordless way, she was demanding that we take the sweets? I know Pinkie has a tendency to be pushy, but to this extent…?
“I made these especially for you two,” she said, her voice ominously calm. “It is extremely rude to turn away such gifts. People like me sacrifice time, shed blood, sweat, and tears to make sure our customers and friends are happy with what we make them. To you baking may be trivial, but accidents can happen.”
“Pinkie—” I tried to speak, but she cut me off again.
“My Granny Pie lost a finger cutting some blueberries when she was making a special wedding cake for my mom and dad. She was so tired yet determined to make it perfect for their special day. She cried as blood spilled onto the berries and batter. But it was not the pain that made her shed tears. No, Sunset…” She tilted her head to the side, eyes narrowing a bit more. “The fact that she screwed up was an even greater pain than losing an appendix. And so she tried again, without even treating the wound.
“My parents were shocked with what happened, but Granny Pie just told them to enjoy the cake she had made them. She sacrificed a finger, yes, but what she really wanted was their appreciation for her efforts. I could have lost a part of myself making these delicious treats for you, and you have the nerve to refuse them?”
This has taken a turn for the uncomfortable. I wanted to give a retort. I wanted to argue that there couldn’t be any possibility of losing anything by preparing a couple of sundaes. I wanted to say that her grandma, kind as she may be, was foolish to ignore her injury. But again, no words would come out. It’s like she’s taken away my ability to speak or think. That…story she just told us was beyond disturbing.
I almost considered giving in and accept the parfait when you came to my rescue. “Sorry Pinkie, but Sunset and I have to be somewhere right now. Had we not any other affairs to attend to I would gladly try whatever you’ve made. I hope you understand.”
She finally broke eye contact with me and turned to you. The expression on her face was unreadable, and while relieved of the weight of her gaze, I still felt uneasy. What the heck is she thinking? What’s with her attitude today? I try to speak, again, but nothing comes out. I feel like I need to say something, but again I can’t.
Suddenly, the girl reverted back into her usual bubbly self, a very wide grin spreading on her face once more. “Okie dokie lokie! Sorry for being a Pushy-McPusher-Pants, guys!”
“It’s fine, Pinkie. We’ll be on our way now.”
“Bye~!”
And with that, the baker took off. I still sat there, my jaw hanging, my mind trying to comprehend everything that just happened. What the hell was that about? Why did Pinkie act that way? It’s not the first time we’ve refused something she offered, and yet for some reason she took this time as an offense. She was so bent on having us try those things out. She was, in a subtle yet obvious way, agressive! This goes beyond Pinkie Pie behavior. She was downright disturbing…
“Sunset?” your voice calls out to me, snapping me out of my stupor. “I’ve paid the tab. Let’s go.”
I nodded without a word and quickly gathered my things. I do not want to relive…whatever happened ever again. And I don’t think I would be able to look at her the same way in a long while either. I might wanna avoid Sugarcube Corner for a bit…
“What the hell was that about?” I asked, groaning as I let myself fall onto the couch. The twenty-minute walk back to my apartment was spent in silence, neither you nor me knowing what to make of the earlier event that transpired. I look over to you, and I wish I hadn’t.
Your eyes were wide, brows raised, mouth slightly open and lips quivering. It’s obvious you were even more disturbed than I. Your wide eyes were staring at nothing, but I can see every emotion in those orbs of yours. You’re barely keeping it together. You could have fooled me with the way you handled Pinkie earlier, but looking at you now… Oh Twilight, are you gonna faint on me?
With a grunt, I pushed myself off the couch and walked over to you. “Come on, sit.” You don’t move. Hell, you barely even acknowledge me. I take your hand and still you give no response. “Twilight? You okay?”
You remain silent for a few more moments before finally speaking. “I’ve never…seen her that way before.” I pull you towards the couch with little effort. At least you’re cooperative. “I’ve seen her upset before, but this…”
“Yeah, I know. But hey, remember that this isn’t the same Pinkie Pie you know in your world.”
“She’s a mirror image…”
“That doesn’t mean shit. I’ve met your human-self, Twi. You may look like her, but you’re very different. This Pinkie Pie has lived in this world all her life, and Earth is a very ugly place. No one can be one hundred percent positive.” I squeeze your hand. “Don’t think about it too much, yeah? I was surprised too, but I will not let that ruin what could be left of an enjoyable day. Even if we have to spend the rest of it here at home.”
You nod, though I could tell you’re still troubled. Oh, Twilight… “Okay. Sorry Sunny, I’ll try not to think about it.”
I can’t help but smile at the nickname. You rarely call me that, and I wish you did more often. “Don’t apologize. I’ll order a veggie pizza and we can watch a movie. How’s that sound?” Again, you nod. At least you’re looking at me now. “Cool! So what do you wanna watch?”
“I’m still unfamiliar with this world’s entertainment. Any recommendations?”
Even after five years, huh? “Well, I recently rented Trotting Hill. Want to give that a go?”
Finally, a smile. “Sure.”
I smile back. “Great. I’ll order and then put it in. Just sit there, ‘kay?”
It was well past the film’s prologue when the pizza arrived. Hugh Grant had just met Julia Roberts, the plot taking off right away. Already I was smiling at the charming interactions between the two characters. The actors had really good chemistry, which is why this is one of my favorite movies to date. You seem to be enjoying yourself as well, which is a relief. I’m glad I was able to take your mind off of that scarring event. I love a smiling Twilight the best.
While I couldn’t relate to the characters in the story, I can’t help but feel myself inching closer to you. My arm was around you, and you were leaning against me. I draw you in some more, and to my relief you place your head on my shoulder. Your warmth brings me joy, and I’m barely even paying attention to the movie anymore. It’s times like these that are the most precious to me. I mean, I cherish even the smallest moments we spend together, but I rarely get these.
You nestle your head against me, and I felt my cheeks heat up. I can’t tell if you’re doing this on purpose or not. I mean, as a former pony, I know how intimate we can be. But even then we have some boundaries we shouldn’t cross as friends. And right now, you’re dangerously close to crossing that boundary.
I shouldn’t complain. In fact, I feel a little confident now with the gesture. I take your hand in mine and gave it a squeeze, just like earlier. You feel so warm. I smile when you give a squeeze back. Perhaps there is some hope after all.
I feel your hand on my tummy, making me flush a bit. Your fingers move a bit, lightly tickling me. I let out a soft moan and lean back, giving you more access. This is getting way past friendly intimacy, yet I couldn’t bring myself to care. Especially when you’re…lifting my shirt? Oh Faust.
Your hand pushes my shirt upwards, the feel of your touch sending shivers up my spine. You stop just on my ribs and try to keep my shirt from falling back down. What could you possibly be doing? Do you even realize what you’re doing to me? Do I pull away? Or wing it?
I decide to help and hold it up for you. We don’t even look at each other, my own eyes still trained on the television. You then slide your hand downwards, fingers caressing every inch of my quivering belly. You seem particularly interested in my abs, the tips of your fingers playing with every bump of muscle.
It was no secret that I work out. I needed a way to let out the stress I build up at work. Dealing with snobby talents would make you want to deck something or someone. Boxing was an incredible outlet. I barely realized that during the time I spent in the gym, my physique had changed. I wasn’t overly muscular, but I was still surprised by the amount of meat I built up.
I gasped once you reached my navel, your nail scraping at the incline of skin. Biting my lip, I lean my head back as your nail presses deeper into my bellybutton. Ponies aren’t so different than humans, yet you still seem fascinated by this. It’s still as sensitive. I moan when you stretch it. There is nothing different, Twi. I’m surprised you have only taken interest in this even after constantly using this form for the past five years.
My right hand moves to your head, fingers running through your gorgeous locks. Just this much contact from you is enough to bring me to cloud nine. Damn it, Twilight. Your curiosity can lead to dangerous things. I may just jump you if you keep this up!
To my slight disappointment, you leave my navel be. Your hand trails back up to my stomach, nails scratching lightly on my skin. Without realizing sooner, I had started to breathe heavily. I try to calm myself, licking my dry lips. I almost giggle when you began to caress my ribs.
Since you’re being so bold, I rest my head on top of yours, my lips pressed against your soft locks. You were using my favorite brand of shampoo. Lavender Grace. I take a deeper whiff of your scent and sigh. My heart races, and my confidence soars. My hand travels down your shoulder, sliding across the fabric of your shirt, until I finally reach the side of your breast.
You gasp, I stiffen. Did I overstep my bounds? Honestly, that seems pretty stupid given that you’re doing something a little past me groping your breast. You relax, and I sigh in relief. You continue to caress me, and I soon follow with a gentle massage. I lightly rub the underpart of your soft mound, imagining what it would feel like if your shirt wasn’t in the way. Oh, I can only imagine the tenderness of your skin, and my fingers twitch at the thought of it.
I move upwards, the palm of my hand now resting at the middle. I can feel your now-stiff nipple underneath the fabric, enticing me to run my thumb around it. You don’t utter a sound, merely continuing your gentle massage on my tummy. I decide to be bold and began to unbutton your shirt.
The first of the buttons go. You don’t do anything to stop me. The second button. Your caresses slow down a notch. The third one goes and I push the cloth aside. I look down and see that, as usual, are not wearing a bra. This makes things a lot easier…
Such beautiful skin…
But before I can do anything else… You pull away. I freeze as I watched you turn away from me. “T-Twilight?”
You say nothing, and that only fills more dread within me. What went wrong? Weren’t we just enjoying ourselves in a whole new level of intimacy? Wasn’t it you who initiated it in the first place? Why stop now, Twilight? Was it something I did? Please look at me…
Your eyes are then trained on the television, and I felt an overwhelming sorrow consume me. I felt compelled to just shut it off, so that you could look at me. But something told me that wouldn’t help the situation in the least. So I was forced to just sit there, dumbfounded at what had just transpired. The atmosphere had turned heavy, and I found it difficult to breathe. I just went from cloud nine to crashing down in a pit of confusion and misery in just a matter of ten seconds.
Twilight…what’s wrong…?
The hour passed, and the movie is at its climax. The more time went on, the more the atmosphere tensed. It was killing me inside, and yet I was afraid that if I even so much as uttered a word, you would pull away. I wanted to say something, but I can’t.
But then you did.
“Sunset?” you speak.
“Yeah?” I reply.
“Turn off the television.”
The dread I felt increased ten-fold at your words, but I complied. After switching off the device, you moved and turned away from me. I swallowed, fearing what words will follow such actions. You look as if you’re struggling what to say. I felt compelled to speak, but for some reason, I’ve been running out of words to say all day.
“You have feelings or me.”
What. The. Fuck? You’re kidding me. After what we did, you state the obvious as if it’s a revelation. You can’t possibly be that slow. I know you’re anything but.
“Y-yeah… I do…” I uttered out.
A moment of silence passed, then you speak again. “How long?”
I chew on my lip, seeing if there is still a way to mediate the situation. Nope, none. The truth is out, so I might as well go all the way. “When we started writing to each other, maybe?”
“…I see.”
That’s it? That’s all you have to say? “How long have you known?”
“…A while.”
I suddenly feel a bit angry. What’s with all these one-line responses? If you’ve known for a while, shouldn’t you have anything more to say? What the hell?
I lean back and stare up at the ceiling. “So what was that back there? Clearly you feel the same way, right?”
I hear you shift, but don’t look. “I was merely…confirming it.”
That brought a frown on my face. “Confirming it?”
“Yes.”
“…Like what, an experiment?”
“…Are you mad?”
“After all that, I would have thought I had more than a slight chance.” I turn my head to the side away from you. “Apparently that isn’t the case. That was beyond leading me on.”
“I didn’t mean to—”
“Well you did.” I didn’t want to cut you off, but I’m so angry. “It’s not nice to toy with someone’s feelings, Twilight. You’re the Princess of Friendship for Faust’s sake.”
“You weren’t making it any easier for me either, Sunset.”
I scoff and pushed myself off the couch. I walk over to the refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of beer and popped it open. Taking a swig, I relished in the slight sting on my throat as the liquid poison slid down. Shit, I can’t even look at you now.
“So why did you need to confirm it? Especially in that way?” I asked, running my thumb across the wet surface of the bottle. “What’s it to you to know how I feel? From how you’re acting right now I know for sure I have no chance, do I?”
“I’m not used to this type of stuff,” you say. “I don’t exactly get asked out by a lot of ponies.”
Shaking my head, I lean on the fridge. “Bullshit. Surely you’ve notice Flash asking you out. Plain as day, I tell you.”
“That’s different—”
I whip around and exclaim, “How is that different?!”
I can see you are taken aback, but you stand up. “Sunset, Flash knows we’re just friends! We just hang out casually without anything beyond friendship!”
“Wha—?!” I am baffled. Seriously baffled. “Do you even see how he acts around you?! You’re not stupid, Twilight. You figured out my feelings, so why not his?!”
“He said so—”
“Really, Twilight? Words can only hold so much truth. Do not tell me you didn’t even consider the fact that he may like you more than as a friend!”
“Even if I knew about it, what am I supposed to do?!” you snap back at me, but that barely fazes me. “Am I supposed to reciprocate his or your feelings?! Huh?! I can’t do that, Sunset. We live in two different worlds, nevermind the fact that I have my duties as a princess!”
I step forward and jab a finger towards you. “That doesn’t change the fact that you led two people on. He asks you out and you say yes. I hold you close and you hold me back. You fucking felt me up! How are we supposed to know that you see us as nothing but friends? Yet despite of knowing how I feel about you, you have the gall to betray my trust and molest me as an experiment to confirm your assumptions? That is fucking insensitive, Twilight Sparkle!”
“Oh, well excuse me for not having the experience regarding romance! Need I remind you of the kind of upbringing I had? How awkward I was, and still am, with others?!”
“You have a ton of friends! You always tell me how you’re surrounded by wonderful ponies who love and understand you! So don’t give me that crap of being awkward with others!” I take another step forward, feeling some tears coming. “Do you have any idea how painful it is to even hope for your love? Do you even know what you do to me? What you just did to me? To Flash? To anyone who has the same feelings we do for you? If you’re not interested in any of us then just reject us outright. Don’t play with us, damn it!”
For a while, we hold each other’s gazes. I can see the conflicting emotions behind your eyes, and I feel my anger slowly being replaced by grief. I realize that despite what you did, I still feel awful putting you in such an unwanted position. As much as I want to hate you for hurting me, my feelings for you are far too strong to even try. Do you see this, Twilight? Do you see how much I love you?
You then lower your head and fiddle with the hem of your shirt. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re sorry,” I repeat you. “That’s really all you have to say?”
“What do you want me to say?” you ask, looking back up at me.
“How about a proper rejection? No beating around the bush, no bullshit… Just reject me.” I hold my arms up. “There is no way you can hurt me more than you already have.”
Your eyes wander away, and my anger returns. Really? After all that was said, you choose now to hesitate? “Twilight—!”
“I don’t love you.”
I shut my mouth and stare at you. I mean, those are the words I asked for right? I had expected them. I knew they were coming. So why did it still hurt? Why do I suddenly feel like my heart was brutally split in two? Damn it all…
Nothing else can be said to follow that, so I take another large swig of my beer. The sting in my throat is nothing compared to the emotional pain I am currently going through. Looks like I’ll need more of this swill. If I’m lucky, I’ll die of alcohol poisoning. Heh, how fucking emo.
I walk past you as you began speaking. “Do you want me to leave?”
I reach the couch and sit, nodding. “Yeah, but not right now. I’d hate to kick you out at this hour.” I then shoot you a cold stare. “But you had better be gone when I wake.”
“Of course,” you say with a bow of the head. “Good night, Sunset.”
“Hm.”
I continued to down my drink, eyes no longer on you. I can hear you walking towards the room, but you stop. What is it now? “…Can I still write to you?”
I couldn’t help but smile. How does one answer that after experiencing the events that had transpired? To keep in contact with the source of your pain? “…No.”
There it is. Years of friendship down the drain. The trust I put in you, betrayed. The love I was willing to offer, cast aside. It hurt, but I’ve made my decision. What’s said cannot be taken back. I hope you realize that, Twilight Sparkle.
And with that, the sound of your footsteps fade into the bedroom. Now’s the time to drown in my sorrow. Now’s the time to finally let everything go. Now’s the time to bear the consequences of my decision.
Now’s the time to cry.
The rays of the sun hit my face and I am immediately greeted by a blinding pain in my skull. I let out a pained groan as I cover my eyes to block out the sun, though the throbbing in my head did not relent. It was futile. I will have to deal with this.
The couch really was an uncomfortable place to sleep in. Truly, my body now felt stiff as a board. Each joint was sore, and the only movement I can make are from my arms and neck. Perhaps I was slightly paralyzed? If so, then my morning just got a whole lot worse.
After minutes of struggling I finally managed to get all my limbs to work. I pushed myself up and let my feet fall onto the cold floor. I heard clanking and felt my headache worsen. I looked down to see several empty bottles scattered beside the couch, and immediately dreaded the task to clean everything up. Though I am going through immense discomfort, procrastination is outside my principles. Better suck it up, Shimmer.
With another groan I stood up and made my way past the bottles, careful not to step on any of them. Though after a few steps after traversing through the messy living room, I was suddenly hit with the urge to hurl. Ignoring the pain in my body, I rushed over to the sink and let everything out. My pained gagging filled the entire house, with an occasional sob, and I was finally relieved of the contents of my stomach. The side of my mouth was smudge with sick, and I quickly washed it off and drained the sink of the disgusting waste.
My chest and gut hurt, but at least I no longer felt the need to empty myself anymore. “Fuck...”
Since I survived through the night, this will be the last time I drink this much. Hell, I’m not sure I even want to touch alcohol again. Perhaps I’m traumatized?
I wash my face to clear my head, and I felt memories of the previous night rush back to me. Being used and then rejected by you… Yeah, that certainly beats the physical pain I woke up to. How is it that things got so bad so fast? Seriously, worst night ever. This tops my becoming a demon.
Muttering out another curse, I look towards the bedroom. Did you leave already? I did tell you to depart before I woke up, so I guess you should be gone. To have you here any longer would just lead me to do something I’ll regret. I’m pretty messed up.
It hurt. It hurt so bad. Why did life have to be so cruel? No, why did you have to be so cruel? Damn you, Sparkle. You were the best thing to ever happen to me. And now…
“You better not come back…” I mutter.
But hey, I’m also at fault right? I got my hopes up, became way too confident, and expected way too much and ended up getting hurt in the end. So fuck me, then. Why not throw something else at me? Clearly I deserve this! What can possibly be worse than this?!
“Is that a challenge?”
I whip around, startled by the voice. “What the…?”
“You truly believe you can’t possibly suffer any more than you are right now?”
There it is again! This voice though… It sounds so familiar…
“Dear Sunset, you have yet to realize that your pain is only just beginning.”
I then feel a slight breeze on my neck, causing me to freeze. My heart thumped painfully in my chest, and images of a horrible monster flashed in my mind. It can’t be…
Swallowing, I slowly turn around to find…
“It ‘s been a while.”
Author's Note
I hope you guys like this! I intended this to be a more light-hearted story considering it's Sunset Shimmer. And I love her to death, so putting her through so much pain was a horrible experience. But I had to remind myself of the universe my story will be set in. I need to keep with the tone.
You don't really have to read my first story to understand this one, but they are in the same story category. It's just that this is Sunset Shimmer's story. And if there are any errors, I apologize. English isn't my first language, and I worked on this from 8pm to 6am. So yeah, tired as HELL!!!
Next two stories will center around Sunset again. Her's is the story arc I really wanna work on. They will be multi-chapter, so I hope you're looking forward to them!
Drake out!
