It all began with a mare named Starlight Glimmer,
A very distant relative of Sunset Shimmer.
She didn't like Twilight ruining her village of hidden inequality,
So she decided, "I'll go back and change history!!"
So Starlight Glimmer went back in time,
And flipped everything around on a dime.
She killed the Mane Six in the past,
And said, "Now I'm gonna have a blast!!"
Then Starlight Glimmer returned to the present,
Only to discover that it wasn't all that pleasant.
For by removing the Mane Six,
She'd exposed Equestria to nasty tricks.

First came the Nightmare from the moon,
And she said, "Oh, am I back too soon?!!!"
She covered Equestria in eternal night,
And gave everypony quite a fright.
Everypony began to starve to death,
Then Discord escaped and quoted Macbeth.
The Nightmare asked, "Who's Macduff?"
And Discord said, "You'll find out soon enough."
War between the two raged,
And Chrysalis decided she wouldn't be upstaged.
She invaded with twenty thousand Changelings, I hear,
And ponies' love vanished, replaced by fear.
Then Discord used his powers to restore the day,
And the Nightmare didn't like it this way.
She said, "I'll team up with Chrissy, that old bat,
And that will take care of that!!"

Then the king of shadows returned,
And in his eyes a fire burned.
He dueled with the Princess Cadance,
And impaled her with a lance.
Celestia was imprisoned in the Everfree forest,
And there were traps for the unwary tourist.
Thestrals stood on guard,
And timberwolves prowled the yard.
Then a new force entered the field,
Determined to make all others yield.
For Sunset Shimmer was back,
And she was not a hack.
