Chapters Chapter 1: Preparing for Planning
Twilight yawned and tiredly walked out of her room and down the hallway," I'm coming," she said tiredly as she walked over to the door. Suddenly another knock came at the door. "I'm coming," she shouted angrily. She walked over to the door and used her magic to open it. She was suddenly grabbed and pulled outside. The door shut behind her quickly. Standing in front of her was a light pink pony with crazy darker pink hair.
"Twilight Twilight Twilight," shouted the pink pony.
Twilight rubbed her eyes," good morning Pinkie." She yawned as Pinkie Pie continued to jump up and down.
"There is only two days until Spike's birthday!"
Twilight yawed," and?"
Pinkie Pie smiled brightly," it's time to start planning his part!"
Twilight laughed tiredly," so that's why your so excited."
Pinkie Pie laughed," yup yup yup yup yup!" She suddenly pulled Gummy out of her saddle bag," me and Gummy are so excited to start planning!"
Twilight laughed and replied," How about we get all of the girls together and we start planning?"
Pinkie Pie stopped jumping," I'll get right on it! We will meet at Sugar Cube Corner at two!"
Twilight sighed and closed her eyes," ok I'll meet you then." When she opened her eyes Pinkie was no where inside . She sighed and walked back inside the castle. She shut the door tiredly using her magic. As she walked into the dining room Spike was walking in from the kitchen, he was wearing a chef hat and an apron with a pink heart on it. As Twilight sat down at her place Spike set a plate of pancakes in front of her. He set down his plate and sat down in the chair on Twilight's right. She smiled and said happily," thank you Spike!" She ate happily as Spike began to eat.
He smiled at her and quickly gobbled down his pancakes. In between his bights he said with a mouth full of food," so what are your plans for this week?"
Twilight smiled," I think I'm going to try to figure out how StarLight was able to remove our cutie marks, she must how spent hours studying in order to figure that out, if I could figure out something like that it would be a Star Swirl The Bearded level spell!"
He nodded," that sounds like a busy day or two, you would get even more glory for doing that."
Twilight nodded and took a bight of her food," I also think I'm going to go to the quill store and get a few quills and some ink, I've been running low lately."
He nodded and then jumped down from his chair, he grabbed Twilight and his plate happily. "I'm gonna go wash the dishes."
Twilight nodded and got up out of her chair, she looked at the clock, it was almost eleven o'clock. She walked out of the dining room and back to her room. She sat at her vanity and brushed her main out. She then removed her robe and put on her crown. She arose and walked out of the room and to the library. She shut the doors behind her and closed her eyes. Her horn began to glow and three books floated off the shelves. She opened her eyes," that spell is probably the best spell I've ever learned." Twilight walked up the stairs to her desk. The dark wood shined brightly as Twilight turned the lamp on. She set the books down beside her and sat down. She chose a navy book with gold outlined pages. She opened the book using her magic and set it on her desk. She began to read happily." How To Plan A Party by PartyPearl." She flipped the page using her magic," When planning a party the most important thing to remember is what kind of party you are planning. If you are planning a surprise party skip to page ten. If you are planning a normal party skip to page five. If you are trying to come up with a theme read here." She skipped to page ten quickly. "The most important part of a surprise party is for the person receiving the party to be absolutely oblivious to the party. The only problem is in order to throw a super spectacular surprise party you must know the pony very very well." Twilight smiled and laughed," Well I have that covered." She began to read in her head.
When planning a surprise party make sure you always have cake. The cake should always be the pony receiving the parties fervor color. The first thing to do is plan the location. Sometimes it's fun to have a party in a restaurant or even in the pony's own home. One of the ponies attending the party must distract the owner so that they do not come to the pony's house. If you are not throwing a surprise party in the pony's home you will need to have a pony take the pony being thrown the party to the location.
Twilight closed the third book happily and glanced up at the clock. She gasped being it was almost three o'clock. She used her magic and quickly levitated her saddle bag into the room. At the same time she used her magic to stuff the books into her bag and some flash cards and a notebook she had taken notes in. She quickly levitated some quills out of a drawer in her desk and some ink from another draw. She stood up and fastened the saddle back around her. She quickly trotted out of the room and through the hallway. She opened the door using her magic quickly. She ran threw the streets dodging ponies left and right. She sighed as she ran into Sugar Cube Corner. Sitting at a table to the side of the room was Pinkie, Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Fluttershy. She sighed and looked at the clock on the wall. She was just in time.

Chapter 2: Perfect Planning
Twilight walked over to her friends that were sitting at the table.
Pinkie smiled widely as she took a seat next to her and Fluttershy.
Twilight set the books down from her saddle bags using her magic. She also levitated her quills and ink and placed one of each in front of every pony at the table.
Mrs.Cake walked out of the kitchen," what may I get for you all?"
Rarity spoke first," one water please."
AppleJack continued the line after that," One hay shake for me."
Mrs.Cake nodded as Rainbow Dash spoke," I'll take a water please."
Pinkie smiled widely," I'll take a chocolate shake please! Extra sprinkles!"
Mrs. Cake smiled and wrote that down on her sketch pad as well," for you Princess Twilight?"
Twilight responded happily," one water please."
Fluttershy smiled," I'll take a vanilla shake please."
Mrs.Cake nodded," I'll be right back with that."
As Mrs.Cake walked away Pinkie turned to Twilight. "So I'm thinking! Blue balloons and lots of cake!"
Rarity smiled," The cake should be white with pretty blue icing and those blue gems Spike loves."
Pinkie nodded excitedly," yes yes yes yes yes!"
AppleJack chimed in," We should do it in the castle Dinin room."
Fluttershy nodded and replied," all of the decorations should be blue and white."
Twilight nodded," Spike would love that."
Rarity smiled," what is everyone getting the little dear?"
Mrs.Cake walked out with a tray full of drinks on her back. She set down the pony's drinks in front of them," here you are all of you! Enjoy!" As Mrs.Cake left AppleJack drank some of her shake.
Apple Jack them replied," I'm thinkin of making him some quilts or somethin."
Rarity nodded and replied," I'm going to get him some nice gems and a bow tie."
Rainbow chimed in," I'm not sure yet. What ever it is I know it will be awesome."
Fluttershy laughed," I don't know either but I know he will like it."
As the girls finished planning the party they all left their bits on the table to pay for the drinks and walked out together.
Twilight fastened her saddle bag around her and followed the rest of the ponies out.
Pinkie Pie bounced up and down excitedly," Don't worry Twilight! We have everything planned out! I will take care of everything!"
Twilight smiled," thank you Pinkie now all I need to do is get him a present and keep him away from the castle on Wednesday."
Apple Jack replied," I'll see yawl on Wednesday!"
Rarity nodded," it's a date."
Fluttershy chimed in," I can't wait!"
Rainbow chimed in after Fulttershy," See you guys Wednesday!"
As the ponies parted Pinkie couldn't help but smile! "This is going to be the most spectacular amazing one of a kind party ever!" She quickly bounced to her home and into her room. She quickly hopped down into her secret party planning room and sat down on her pillow. She set the books and flash cards Twilight had given her on her desk. She then stood up and sorted through her filing cabinets for Spike's file."Where are you," she asked herself. She smiled as she pulled it up, she bounced back over to her desk and sat it down. As she bounced over she grabbed a package of blue balloons, two white and blue table clothes, blue confetti for her party cannons, party hat cut outs, a package of games, and candles. She played everything on her desk and happily shouted," I'm ready to plan this party!" She opened her desk drawer and pulled out a quiz and paper. She hurriedly began to jot down a to-do list. She thought aloud," Talk to Mrs. Cake about the cake." She laughed at the unintentional pun and continued to write. "Blow up balloons and load the party cannons.... make the party hats.... set up the games.... get the food... make sure I have enough candles.... send out the invitations, definitely not sining telegrams!" She laughed to herself,"and make sure Twilight and Spike are occupied on Wednesday." She wiped her forehead," this is gonna be difficult but if any pony can pull it off it's the party pony Pinkie!"

Pinkie hopped up and down the streets of ponyville bobbing in and out of shops shopping for party supplies and checking things off her check list. As she hopped into Sugar Cube Corner she smiled. She jumped over the the counter happily.
"Good afternoon Pinkie it's nice to see you again," said Mrs.Cake as she emerged from the kitchen.
Pinkie bounced up and down," Hi again! I was wondering if you could make a cake by the day after tomorrow?"
Mrs.Cake smiled," planning another party Pinkie?"
Pinkie bounced up and down even more," yup! you know me so well!"
Mrs.Cake smiled again and replied," who is the party for may I ask?"
Pinkie stopped bouncing and replied quietly," I'm throwing a surprise party for Spike."
Mrs.Cake nodded," I'll get that cake ready for pick up by Wednesday morning!"
Pinkie jumped up and down," thank you so much!"
Mrs.Cake grabbed a notebook and began to write," so what color and how many layers for the cake?"
Pinkie smiled," The cake needs to be white with blue icing around the edges. It needs to be three layers tall and have gems on it."
Mrs.Cake nodded as she sketched down the order," I will get that done for you."
Mrs.Cake slipped the notebook in her apron pocket as Pinkie bounced out of the room.
"Thanks Mrs.Cake," she shouted gleefully.
Rarity walked into Carousel Boutique, she shut the door behind her and walked up the stairs and into her studio. She used her horn magic to open the door and close it behind her," alright then," she said to herself.
She used her horn magic to levitate ribbon from her shelf to her desk. She carefully looked them over and grabbed a silky red ribbon," all this ribbon needs is a few touches and to be tied into a bow!"
Rarity walked over to her mannequins and began to use her horn magic to wrap it into a bow around the mannequins neck. She cast another spell and levitated a bejewled gem box over to her. She carefully opened it and placed the gems on the bow tie securely. She Set the gem box down and smiled brightly," dear little Spike will love this."
She carefully took the bow off the mannequin and levitated it over to her desk. She used her horn magic to levitate a hat box out from under her bed and placed some beautiful wrapping paper around it and used some of her ribbon to tie it. She levitated the box back into the bottom of her bed and turned around," that way if Spike comes to help me he will have no idea I have something for him."
She frowned," I hope he doesn't mind we are going to act like we forgot his birthday."
She sighed," the poor dear." She clicked her tongue against the roof of her jaw making a clicking nose as she left the room.
AppleJack grinned happily as Granny handed her a brown leather recipe book," here you are darlin."
AppleJack took the old book out of her grandmothers hands," Thank you kindly Granny Smith. I just know Spike will love one of your apple sapphire ruby pies."
Granny Smith nodded," That was always the dragons in the ever free forests favorite pies."
Apple Jack nodded," I'll ask Rarity to help me find some Sapphire Rubies."
Granny Smith smiled," what ever floats your boat."
Apple Jack laughed as Granny Smith walked out of the kitchen, Apple Jack set the book down on the kitchen counter and walked out of the kitchen. She quietly walked out of the house knowing Granny was probably napping.
As Apple Jack walked down the streets she couldn't help but smile. After all she knew that she would be making someone else happy.

Chapter 4: Perfect Surprise
As Apple Jack walked out of Carousel Boutique she couldn't help but smile. Her an Rarity had spent the whole rest of the day collecting gems for Apple Jack's pie. Meanwhile at Fluttershy's Rainbow and Fluttershy were having a hard time deciding what to get Spike.
"How about a dragon teddy bear," inquired Fluttershy curiously.
Rainbow shook her head," I don't think so. Last year you got him a stuffed bunny and he's turning ten now so I think he's probably grown out of stuff like that."
Fluttershy sighed and then replied," this is so hard."
Rainbow flew over to Fluttershy," I have to go get him some hoof ball cards. Do you want to come with me to the Traders Booth?""
Fluttershy nodded and followed Rainbow out the door. She knew that the others would most likely get Spike gem related items and wanted to get something special. She slowly thought to herself," I wonder what Twilight will get him."
As they approached the Traders Booth Fluttershy gasped in amazement. Inside the shop was all sorts of items.
Rainbow flew down and looked at Fluttershy," I'm gonna go buy him some hoof ball cards."
Fluttershy nodded and began to look around, she saw all sorts of things but only one thing caught her eye completely. Laying on a table was a blue quilt with white wool around the edges. On the quilt were clouds and dragons flying through the sky. On the edges by the wool were gems of all colors. Fluttershy smiled and picked the quilt up," Spike will love this."
Rainbow walked over to Fluttershy with a small bag with tissue paper in her mouth," got something?"
Fluttershy nodded and flew over to the payment table. The pony standing at the cashier desk was brown with white hair. "How may I help you?"
Fluttershy placed the quilt on the table.
"Trade or pay," the cashier asked."
Fluttershy placed some bits on the table," pay."
The trader took two bits and smiled," thanks for shopping at the Traders Booth!"
Pinkie hopped up and down the streets of Ponyville, connected to her tail was a red wagon filled with party supplies. She happily hopped into her house. She dragged the wagon behind her happily. She quickly quizzed around her room. She grabbed some wrapping paper and ribbon, she then walked over to her bed and grabbed some bits out of her saddle bag. She quickly wrapped them and grabbed it. She quickly took the slide down to her party planning secret hideout, she threw the wagon into a large cubby hole with a few other boxes of party supplies inside. She carefully placed the box into the slot and yawned as Gummy crawled on her back.
"Let's get some sleep Gummy," she said sweetly.
"We have some serious party planning to do tomorrow," she laughed gleefully as she slid up her slide and into her room.
Pinkie lay down on the bed exhausted. After all what kind of party planner doesn't sleep?
Twilight quietly opened the door careful not to wake Spike. "Come in Princesses," she said kindly.
Princess Celestia,Princess Luna, and Princess Cadence stepped in.
"You said you had something to show us," said Luna.
Twilight nodded and whispered," follow me."
The princesses quietly followed Twilight to her library. Inside were three large chalk boards and a bunch of books lying around.
Twilight smiled," I spent all day researching dragon behavior, I found out something amazing."
Twilight walked over to a chalk board an smiled," Spike had been in a dragon egg for ten years I hatched him. He was supposed to be in the egg for quite a few more years before he hatched naturally. Because I hatched him he had some weird aging differences and never grew to his full length. Tomorrow Spike will be twenty years old!"
Twilight turned her head towards the princesses, they all stood in disbelief before her.
Twilight sighed," I want to give Spike the ability to be his full size for his birthday but I fear I don't have enough magic to do so yet."
The three princesses in front of it turned to each other, Celestia smiled," I would be glad to assist you in casting the spell."
Luna nodded," as would I Princess Twilight."
Twilight turned her head to Cadence who simply responded," me as well."
Twilight smiled and began to devise a perfect plan. "Alright this is how we will do it."
Apple Jack sighed as she pulled the beautiful Apple Sapphire Ruby Pie out of the oven. She put it into a plastic bowl and wrapped it," Spike'll love this," she said to herself.
Apple Jack yawned and looked out the window, it was nearly night. Just like all the other ponies it was time for her to rest. One thing was for sure though, she knew tomorrow would be a great party.
