Imprisonment

Celestia sighed with content as she sat on a balcony, watching her favourite student playing with her friends in the Canterlot garden. If Twilight knew that the Princess was spying on her, she’d be very angry, but she loved seeing the young unicorn playing with her four friends. “Oh Twilight, if only you knew how important you will be one day.” Celestia sighed again, this time with sorrow as she thought what would await the filly in a few years.

Celestia looked at the clock on the wall next to her bed and realized that it was time to lower the sun and raise the moon before tomorrow’s summer sun celebration. She closed her eyes and said softly, “Good night, dear sister, may your dreams be sweet and peaceful.” Then the golden sun was slowly replaced by the silvery light of the moon. The Princess saw Twilight say goodbye to her friends for the night and she and Spike began walking back to their tower. Celestia herself retired to her own bedchambers for the night. ‘Wake me if there are any problems.” She told the guards stationed outside of her chambers. “Of course, Princess.” The guard replied. “Thank you Shade Sentry.” The guard nodded again and turned to the hall outside of the princess’s chamber, not knowing of the danger lying in wait for him, and the ruler he protected.

Celestia went into her chambers and got into bed, worried about what she would see in her dreams tonight. She closed her eyes and instantly faded into blackness. “Rise sister, and face your Nightmare!” yelled a voice from the inky shadows. The princess got to her feet and faced the voice.

“Let us get this over with, witch.” She replied, hearing manic laughter, steadily nearing.

“Do you truly wish to face that which you have created? Or would you rather face the victim that you cruelly imprisoned with a monster?” A patch of light appeared in front of Celestia, and sitting in that light, chained to a rocky ground, was the sister that the princess had lost nearly one thousand years ago.

“Luna!” Celestia yelled, rushing forward to help her sister. But as she moved forward, a black shadow swooped down and landed in front of her.

“You would act as a friend, after countless moons of abandonment? I will not allow you to trick her that way.” The beast said, smirking with needle-like teeth.

“How can you talk to me that way, monster? I will go to my sister’s aid, as I have attempted to do for the past thousand years.” Celestia replied, a scowl marking her normally regal face. The beast’s smile only grew larger.

“You call ME a monster?” It giggled, “You didn’t even TRY to help me!”

The princess’ anger grew to the breaking point “YOU ARE NOT MY SISTER!” she screamed as she put her full power into a wave of magic that blasted outwards, illuminating the moon’s surface and evaporating the shadow, but that lasted for only a moment before the wave faded into the distance and the shadow blocked her path once again. Fully exhausted from the magical outburst, Celestia dropped to the ground, and the shadow only laughed,

“You will never regain your sister, monster.” Celestia could only watch in despair as the shadow turned, and began walking towards Luna, who could not avoid the beast, and it enveloped her. Celestia attempted to reach towards her pained, writhing sister, before her arm drooped and the door to her chambers burst open, waking her from the nightmare.
