Prologue: Derpy's Day
"This day marks a momentous occasion. This day is the day when our dear Ponyville, a name synonymous with simple antiquity reaches it's bicentennial."
The roar of approving hoof beats echo through town square as hundreds of ponies of all color and creed listen to their trusted mayor.
"Built up from dirt and mud Ponyville has gone on to become the breadbasket of Equestria. That is why today we are here to honor our most honorable citizens with this.."
The stage lights up as a large white jade chalice rises in a cloud of mist. The crowd of ponies eyes widen at it's chiseled glory. "This solid white jade - cough..". Fog continued to roll in over the stage. The mayor panicked. She was acting mayor during the bicentennial and her reputation was on the line. "Derpy!" she cried. "Blow those clouds a little more gently!"
Poor Derpy stumbled out of the fog on stage and tripped over the jade chalice. The crowd gasped as it wobbled around in the mist, finally teetering off the stage. Faster than a speeding paper airplane Derpy dove under the valuable object, catching it in her hooves. The crowded erupted in cheers as Derpy gave a happy derp-eyed grin...

Suddenly, for no clear rhyme or reason, Derpy's head decompressed and burst in a loud wet crunch. Blood, brains, spinal fluid launched in all direction with the jade chalice slowly being filled with fluids pumped from Derpy's jugular vein. Two bloodshot yellow eyes floating to the top of the gory monument. With a nasty gurgling sputter her hide began to rip, causing lines of blood to spray out of gruesome fissures.
The cheers of joy had become cries of terror. Ponies shrieked, the fainted, some just galloped away fearing whatever did this to Derpy was still present.
In a wet pop Derpy's torso burst into red pasty liquid. Shards of bone launched into the sky with trails of blood like hellish fireworks.
Minutes passed, ponymedics arrived on the scene, but Derpy was by this point was a mangled glob of flesh paste, hanging off the edge of a large stone cup.
Something is happening. Some force unseen. There is nopony immune to it's judgement. This day will be the worst day in everypony's life.
