Convicted and Rehabilitated
The Assignment
Load Full StoryIt was raining again.
He loved the rain.
Trickster the Great and Powerful showpony of Equestrias Royal courts now turned psychologist was on an airship heading towards a small island fifty miles east of Manehatten called the M.A.R.s Penal Facility. The trip was short but with the weather as it was the airship captain said they'd take it slowly as to not ram into the facility due to poor visibility conditions.
As he waited the blue unicorn was reading over an extensive, but very enlightening document on the rules of the MARs facility. He read the personnel manifest and say some names that were very familiar to him. They say that the head warden was a pony named Dusk. A threshal or batpony of great renown. She was a cunning mare which was only matched by her ruthless nature.
Reading her bio, Trickster took a moment to look at her provided photo. She was a dark grey mare with a jet black mane and bright yellow eyes. She wore a dark black uniform top with a ball cap that had M.A.R.s written on the forehead just above the brim. Se had her mane tied back in a ponytail style and had a smug grin on her face. Her name tag was over her left chest pocket on her jacket with a small badge on it that read MARs Facility Warden.
He read through her profile in great detail, thanks to Princess Twilight's meticulous detailed notes. He flicked his bangs out of his face looking at the next page to read the profiles of several other staff members and inmates. MARs was an all mare instillation with some of the most notorious and vicious criminals housed there.
When he heard about this job he took it as a sign for him to put what he learned from Princess Twilight during his reformation. Over the last year he spent a great deal of time with the purple princess learning about freindshop, psychology, law and many other things. But one thing he learned was to be humble and forgiving. Those were some of the hardest days of his life, thinking back on them he wouldn't have traded them for anything in the world.
Not fame.
Not fortune.
Nothing.
His friendship with Twilight was the best thing he'd done with his life. Not only as a career but for his mental health as well. Now he had a chance to make the lives of several ponies better. He could help them and make them happy just like he did back when he was a showpony, traveling across the lands putting smiles on frowning faces after long days. Pinkie would have been proud of me. he thought happily.
He closed the file and looked out the window seeing they were on final approach to the MARs Penal Facility. He took a deep breath and readied himself. It was going to be a hard battle, but he in his infinite confidence was ready to take this job and make it a reality. The truth was he had much opposition from the royal courts when he accepted the job to rehabilitate the prisoners of MARs.
Most thought it was a worthless investment and wanted to have the remaining prisoners execrated. They all were on death row anyway so why bother? That was their mindset, but to Trickster it was a chance to help them one last time. He had three chances to change and it turned out for the better so he wanted to give these ones prisoners a chance too. After getting royal backing to fund this venture he set out with his papers and books preparing to meet his true calling.
Helping the lost and condemned.
