Prelude
It was a normal night as any other, when I returned home from a long and tiresome day of school, I went directly to my room, threw my backpack in its usual corner as I went, took a shower and prepared myself something to eat.
After my shower was taken and my belly filled with some pizza, I started my computer and since tomorrow was Saturday, it was easy to see how I would spend my night.
I laid back and made myself more comfortable as I was greeted with the familiar icons dotting my desktop. After a bit of pondering about how should I start, I moved my cursor and double click on the War for the Overworld Icon.
A small smile appeared on my lips as I leaned back in my chair waiting for the game to load as I felt a fresh wave of thoughts, questions and plans assaulted my brain ranging from how I was going to build my dungeon to boring everyday life questions .The game loaded and I calmly entered in it.
The next couple of hours, I spent playing the sandbox, a bit of the campaign and a multiplayer match. That's the moment when my digestion finally caught up to me and for better or worse I ran to the bathroom.
When I returned I noticed something odd, on my laptop was laying a talisman or a necklace I wasn't quite sure to be honest.
I sat down as I picked the medallion up and examined it.It was a triangle and on one of the sides it had a horse..., no a unicorn's head with wings on either side.The triangle was grey with a diamond in its center from green stone, the unicorns head was a darker grey with green colored eyes and the wings had some kind of feathers on the top wich surprise, surprise, were green.
It didn't take me long to realise what it was, a copy of the Alicorn Amulet as it was called from that show, My little pony.Although I wasn't a brony I had a friend with whom I watched a couple of episodes and they were pretty good.
Why was is it colored green instead of red?
I raised it to my eye level as I examined it intensively.What I found odd about this medallion was how realistic it looked and felt, not only did it seem to be made from metal but I couldn't see any imperfections which are so often left on such objects by uncareful sculptors wich sell them for a cheap price.And the eyes, they seemed to be an actual stone.Whoever crafted this item was skilled I suppose.
My friend probably forgot it here, but then how didn't I see it until now?And did he really have money to spend on something like this?
I shook my head.I saw people buying more useless stuff than this, it looked pretty nice and I It was close to the shows version.Nevertheless, I returned to my game.
Unnoticed by me however the medallion started glowing a little.
After a couple of minutes, I noticed the strange glow, as it started slowly but surely to intensify.
Something happened to me, as guided by an unseen force or an instinct long forgotten, I picked it up and I put it on my neck.The moment I let go of it, the strange artifact started glowing brighter and spreading until it covered my entire body.
A strange heat started spreading through my body sending electric shiver and a sensation of numbness in its wake, as for what I thought, I was completely calm , unnaturally calm as I felt no fear , no anger, nothing as I calmly waited for whatever was happening, as somehow, I knew that whatever was going on, I couldn't stop it and more importantly it wasn't to kill or hurt me.Those were my final thoughts as I finally passed out.
In a dark room where only one light pierced through, coming from the central table on wich a tridimensional map sat.
In the darkness something, a tall humanoid figure, stood overlooking it.You could see him planning as he spoke calmly, instructing somebody or something about its task.
"He's a dim-witted sort, and he seems to like marching his troops into an early grave..." you could feel him smile"...I'd say it's time to learn about traps."
The deity smiled as he watched the Underlord preparing his teleportation spell to the Overworld.The spell was not very hard and it came as easy as breathing to his servants, even in those as weakened as this one.That would be normally, but because of the damned Imperial Inhibitors there was the risk of getting sent somewhere else then intended.If that would happen he already had a plan B, wich he hoped he wouldn't have to use.
He stood there, deep in thought, as al of the sudden jerked his head to the left as a look of surprise passed his features, quickly turning into a grin.
"Well then, it seems you finally found someone didn't you?" he chuckled as he observed the strange energy signature which materialised itself in the Aether."Hopefully, he won't mind, the little... changes I made to you."
As fast as it appeared so it disappeared.The deity chuckled.A new piece has been added to the table.
The spell that his Underlord was casting finished as he started entering the Overworld.The deity smirked as he watched the spell teleporting his servant exactly where they have planned.
He patiently waited for the spell to finish as he briefed his servant about his task.
Celestia walked down her garden with a small smile on her face as she enjoyed her relaxing walk.A gust of wind drawed her attention to the tree from her left.As she looked in the tree the noticed a black raven standing.What truly drawed her attention to the bird, though, was the thing in his beak.He was holding a rusty Horseshoe.The raven stared at her, before flying away and dropping his horseshoe.
She watched him flying away as a wave of concern passed trough her.She shook her head to clear her worry.Bad omens were only a fake myth.They weren't true.
As she continued her walk she couldn't stop a pang of fear from residing in the back of her mind.
