Squire of Caliban

by Cornelius McCrumpet
A lone stallion of the Dark Angels space marines is thrown into the alien world of Equestria

For the past 10,000 years, the Space Marines of the Dark Angels chapter have stood vigil over the sprawling domain of ponykind, fighting a constant war against aliens, daemons, heretics and unsanctioned unicorns. Aloof, they shun praise and glory, preferring to keep to themselves and let their combat record do the talking. Whether there is some deep, dark reason for this or they simply lack adequate social skills; no one outside their ranks truly knows for sure.

Brother Samson has just risen to the rank of full battle brother within the chapter. He is already amongst the greatest warriors in the galaxy. His aim with a bolter, uncanny. His skill with a chainhorn, masterful. His armor, polished immaculately. Yet none of this means anything when among the Dark Angels, where every warrior is held to such a standard. And while his physical skill is without question, his ability to think for himself, take initiative, and talk to anyone outside the chapter is in dire need of improvement.

Especially if he's going to save a planet without them.
