The Conversion Bureau: Change of scene
The Conversion Bureau: Change of scene

Chapter One: Moving out
So there I was, standing in front of the old hospital building that had been turned into a Conversion Bureau. Well I should start from the beginning, my name is Kevin Dolya and I am 15 years old and I live in the very small town of 1770. I have blue eyes and long light brown hair. I was also a tall and skinny, most people called me mop head because I was almost like a mop, without being made of wood that is.
‘This is the day Kevin... this is the day that everything changes.’ I thought to myself, as I walked up the the automatic doors. I was struck by the cold air of the air conditioned room, it felt like the old hospital but with a happy feeling to it. I walked up to the desk which had a human sitting behind it, she was filing her pink nails, but it looked like she was going to paint them too as she had pink nail polish with her.
“Ummm... Hi there, I’m here to sign up for conversion,” I asked awkwardly.
“Sure thing hon,” she said, as she put her file down and handed me a clipboard with a sheet of paper and a pen, “Fill this out and return it to me please.”
“Thanks.” I said, while returning a big smile. I strolled over to one of the chairs that dotted the lobby of the building. I sat there with the clipboard in hand and began to write down my details.
Name: Kevin Doyla

‘Wow, that was simple for signing away my life.’ I thought to myself, as I handed it back to the receptionist.
“Everything seems in order Kevin, now if you head through those doors and take the first door onto the left you’ll be in the orientation meeting, its going to start soon so I would hurry up before you miss it.” She said, motioning me with her hands to the pair of double doors that used to lead to the Emergency room’s.
“Thanks.” I replied as I headed through the doors.
I sat in the class room by myself, the room was filled with chairs but all of them were empty. A light brown pony trotted in expecting there to be more but only saw me.
“Well then.” the pony said, in a masculine voice as he trotted up to me, “So I guess I should give you the orientation speech but I’ll just skip that part and get to the questions that you have.”
“Okay... well when do I get ponified?” I asked as he sat next to me on his haunches. He was dark green and he had a light silver mane and deep brown eyes.
“Well regulations say you are to be ponified by the third day, but if you want to speed up the process we could do it now so us ponies have something to do.”
“Sweet, lets do that.” I said eagerly,
“Okay then, so follow me please to the examination room because we have test to do before we give you hooves.” he said as he happily trotted in front of me.
“So what kind of test are they?” I asked, as he lead me through the empty hospital white bleached corridors of the hospitals.
“Well its one and that’s to see which strain of potion to give you so the transformation doesn’t hurt, and were here.” he said, as we arrived at in a large room with various vials filled with different colors. “Oh I forgot to mention, you don’t have to turn into a pony. We have potions that can turn you into anything you can think of or a mare.”
“Wait what do you mean a mare?”
“It’s your version of a woman.”
“But I am a dude... I like being a dude, but tell me more about what I can turn into.”
“Well we have one that can turn you into a griffin, a diamond dog, a baby dragon, a foal, a buffalo, a zebra, a seapony and last but not least a kangaroo.” he said, after pointing to the various vials behind him.
“I think I’ll stick to turning into a pony.”
“Okay then, let me just prick your finger with this.” He said, as he held a small needle in his hoof.
“How are you doin- Ouch!” I cried, as I began sucking on the finger that he had drawn blood from.
“Well being an earth pony I can pick up things easier than the other types of ponies because of my different type of magic.” he said as he put the needle in a computer.
“Wait there are different types of ponies?” I asked in disbelief.
“Yes, earth pony. Like myself are more intune with the earth. Unicorns have physical magic and the pegasus have the power to fly.”
“Oh sweet.”
“Here we are, the regular ponification potion strain D.” he said holding a small plastic cup.
“Strain D?”
“Its just the batch name, so it changes every 6 months. Now please take off your cloths.”
“Wait what!?”
“Look it’s the regulations. If you have your clothes on you could die during conversion because it restricts the changing bone and flesh.”
“... If I must.” I said wearily while taking off my cloths.
“Good now sit up the table and drink this whole please.” he said, handing me the small cup with the potion in it. The cup was warm and it felt strange to hold, like something was wanting to crawl inside my head and take what’s good out of me and destroy it.
“Well I’ll see you in a bit, I guess.” I said, as I drank the horrible tasting grape flavored potion. “Yuck, tastes worse than a rotten avocado.”
My eyes became instantaneously heavy and the world around me began to grow dark. My body felt like it had died but left the brain alive. It was almost... peaceful, but my conscience faded as my head hit the cold metal table I sat on.
